Chapter 1
Summary:
Theta Sigma met a Pink and Yellow human girl over a century before he would be known as The Doctor.
Notes:
In this Chapter Rose is 10, and Theta and Koschei are whatever the equivalent age is for Time Lord kids
Chapter Text
Theta Sigma was bored, listening to a lecture from his class' instructer, Borusa about the planet they were visiting, earth. It was boring, he wanted to explore the planet, not just hear about it. He had thought they were here to explore not just for a boring lecture. Theta looked at his best friend Koschei from the corner of his eye, he could tell how bored his friend was, not as much as him, but it wasn't a competition... Still very bored, though
"Hey," he whispered to his friend.
"What?" Koschei hissed back.
"This is boring isn't it?"
"Obviously."
"Let's go explore, they won't notice we're gone."
Koschei shrugged, "alright, let's go."
Theta grins as he stealthily leaves, feeling Koschei's presence close behind him, not being noticed was helped at least a bit, by the fact that they were at the back of the group, no one to either side of them or behind them.
Once they were safely out of earshot of their class and teacher Koschei looked at Theta, "so, where are we going?"
Theta thought for a moment before pointing, "that way." He said, grinning as he ran in the complete opposite direction that they had come from.
He could practically feel Koschei's sigh as the other boy followed him. "We have no idea what we're doing."
"That's half the fun!"
"Sure, whatever." No matter how annoyed Koschei made his voice sound Theta knew his friend was grinning just as broadly as him.
After a few more moments of running they had made it to a park... Although, it didn't seem to be very well kept, but there seemed to be a few human children playing, for some reason one particular girl caught Theta's eye. With blond hair and a pink shirt, short sleeve for the weather, she looked nice, and she was playing with a black boy, for reasons he couldn't explain, because she was only human and he was a future Time Lord, he felt something in his stomach, sinking. No! He had to play with her...
"Theta!" Oh, right, Koschei was here, "what are you looking at that ape for?"
"Her... Her timelines!" He breathed, actually only noticing them now, golden and beautiful, more then any other human he could see around this place, intricate and woven into a tapestry that he couldn't bring himself to read for some reason.
"What-" Koschei stopped, and Theta could feel his friends' surprise despite their lack of touch, "okay, wow... How can a stupid ape have those?!"
"Shhhh." Theta hissed at his friend, before looking back toward the girl, who was now looking back at the two of them, he gave Koschei a glare.
And before Koschei could respond they both heard an, "oi!" Theta's head snapped up to see the pink and yellow girl in front of them.
"I- sorry if you heard this idiot, he can be rude often." He put his hand out to the girl, "I'm Theta Sigma. You can call me Theta, or Thete." He barely let anyone outside of Koschei or his brother, Brax call him that but this girl felt important somehow...
She took the proffered hand with a smile, her tongue touching her teeth, "'s nice to meet you, Thete, I'm Rose Tyler."
"Rose Tyler..." he tested out the name, and it easily flowed off his tongue, "it's a pleasure." He's glad he learned Earth English, it had felt important back then and it still did. He blinked as he felt an unknown yet somehow familiar presence in his mind, the name of the presence was on the tip of his mind and yet... He shook his head and took his hand out of Rose's, immediately missing the warmth of her hand in his and the fit.
"Anyway, who's your friend?" Rose asked.
Koschei knowing it was his turn, took her hand, "I'm Koschei, ms. Rose..." He leaned down and kissed her hand, and Theta would have ripped them apart if Koschei hadn't looked up at him with wide eyes, now no longer with the insanity that had been in them since the day they'd both looked into the Untempered Schism, "the drums..." He whispered, "they're gone..." Koschei looked at Rose, eyes wide, "what kind of human...?"
Theta heard a musical laugh, but knew it couldn't be from Rose, it was telepathic, and humans weren't. "Anyway," he said seeing Rose's confused face and deciding to change the subject, "can we play with you?"
Rose smiled, still looking a bit confused, but smiling nonetheless, "sure!" She let go of Koschei's hand and Theta could practically feel the moment his friend's mind got overtaken by the drums again. "Come on!"
They spent the next couple of hours playing, and it was possibly the most fun Theta has ever had, he knew it would eventually come to an end, especially once he felt Borusa's presence coming nearer, with heavy hearts he promised Rose they'd meet again. He knew he'd keep that promise, he had to even if it took hundreds of years for him. He and Koschei ran back to where Borusa was, knowing that they'd both have a punishment.
A heavy punishment it was, they had to write a whole essay on why the no intervention policy existed, and why it was important to follow... Haha, as if he'd listen to that stupid rule.
It was many centuries later after the worst event in his life when the Doctor would meet Rose Tyler again, although their first meeting was buried behind so much grief and loss that it would take almost a year and another regeneration for him to fully recognize her.

Chapter Text
Zaidendestinwild had travelled to this universe from another. His mind felt strangely quiet here, though that might have simply been because this universe was so far from his own. He had escaped the War when his father, across multiple regenerations, began enacting a plan that was both brilliant and utterly mad: flying all of their TARDISes in perfectly spaced intervals around Gallifrey. Zaiden never found out what the plan was meant to achieve. He’d simply taken the chance to slip away—escaping the Time Lock, and with it, the only home he’d ever known.
He was pulled from his thoughts when the TARDIS sent him a telepathic image of something directly outside. A small craft hovered nearby, barely large enough for a single person. Through its slightly tinted glass, he could just make out a figure, a young woman, blonde, possibly blue-eyed. Curiosity got the better of him. Zaiden strode to the doors and eased them open, peeking out.
Zaiden leaned against the doorway, peering out at the small craft. “Hello?”
She stared back at him, eyes wide. “Who are you?” Her voice was muffled by the glass, but thankfully, his TARDIS had already extended the atmospheric shield around the doorway, allowing her words to carry through.
“My name’s Zaidendestinwild—but that’s a mouthful, so just call me Zaiden.” He introduced himself with a quick smile and a friendly wave. “What’s your name?”
“Jenny,” she answered.
Zaiden blinked. That was… unexpected. Definitely not Gallifreyan.
“Nice to meet ya, Jenny. Hold on a sec—I’ll do something so we don’t have to talk through the glass,” he said. With that, he stepped back inside, closing the doors behind him and heading for the console to rematerialize around Jenny’s ship.
Zaiden grinned as he saw Jenny look around and open her ship --the glasslike canopy retracting before she got out into the control room. "This... Is this A TARDIS?" She asked, slowly.
"Yes." He blinked --if she wasn't a Time Lord, or any sort of time traveler, how would she know what a TARDIS is?
"But.. I thought... My dad was the last Time Lord..." She didn't seem to realize she'd said that out loud.
"I'm from an alternate universe." He told her softly. "He may be the last, but if he was then how are you alive...?"
"Progenation machine, on Messaline. There was a war, generational, the rest were clones, but Dad put some of his own genetic make-up inside the machine, so here I am. Dad fixed everything, but I guess he thought I'd died because he left before I woke up. Weeell, I thought I was dying too. I suppose being made from a Time Lord may have made me different from the others." She shrugged.
"Who is your Dad, anyway, jenny?" Zaiden asked, though he had a suspicion about what the answer was.
"Oh, The Doctor."
He snorted, "of course, the first person I find is my technically, sort of sister, before even running into him."
"Wait, wait, wait! You're an alternate version of one of my dad's kids..." She seemed to stop and think for a moment before she continued. "You escaped the Time War?"
"You know about it?"
"Dad mentioned it a couple of times the day I was created, mostly compared it to the one on Messaline at the time..." She sighed sadly in remembrance, "I think he was scared at first when I was created, than over that day, until my death he got used to it, and I think he'd wanted me to travel with him before I got shot."
He paused before answering her original question. "Yeah, I was able to escape. Dad in my universe did this thing where multiple of his regenerations all flew their TARDISes around Gallifrey, I didn't know what their plan was, but I was able to get through the time lock. I was surprised at the amount of cracks there were in the universal walls, it was rather easy to get through."
"Oh..." Jenny paused for a moment, "sorry- I don't know what to say..."
"It's alright, we should get your ship to the vehicle port, then maybe do some exploring in this universe, see if we run into Dad, and if we don't there is still so much excitement to be had." Zaiden is almost glad he doesn't have to deal with the rules of being a CIA agent anymore... He understood now, why his Dad left Gallifrey and didn't look back unless he absolutely had to. There was of course other reasons that had to do with what Zaiden's idiotic brother wanted to make Susan into... He shook his head, no use thinking about his neice now, he doubted he'd see her, even if he and Jenny did run into the Doctor.
"Okay, how do we move it, though? I suppose I could fly it through, but it'd be harder to navigate than open space." Jenny frowned in thought.
"Well... I suppose if you'll be travelling with me for the foreseeable future you won't need it anymore..."
"Oh! We could drop it off back on Messaline!"
"Alright, I'm not sure if my TARDIS knows the space-time coordinates we need, though."
"Oh right, well it was..." She then proceeded to tell him the coordinates of the planet Messaline and the year she came from.
"Alright, let's get it back there and then we travel all space and time!" He couldn't help but grin, a whole new universe for him to get to know and little to know rules... Okay, well there was still no messing with fixed points of course, but otherwise.... Nothing! Just exploring with his newly found, and as of now only known sibling of this universe.
"Yes!!" Jenny grinned as Zaiden put the coordinates she had told him earlier into the TARDIS console, and off they went...
Into time and space!!

This chapter and the next one are directly connected, I switched their order because of that important connection...
Chapter 3
Summary:
Lyther and Corin (the Metacrisis Doctor) taking care of their kid (part 1)
Notes:
I'm honestly not sure myself when Rose opens her locket/biodata module, and becomes Lyther again, if any commenters are willing to help with that, the three options are as follows:
1. Sometime just before the second visit to Satellite Five and just before Nine's regeneration.
2. After The Christmas Invasion but before 'New Earth'
3. Between 'New Earth' and 'The Girl In The Fireplace'
(The last option I feel is the worst in it's Drawn-outness, I kinda want it to be after 'New Earth' so Rose can still be read as '100% human by Cassandra's robot spiders in New (x15) New York, but that also feels a little drawn out with the fact I've already gone through 3 chapters in the main fic from just writing Series 1 Episode 1... So, yeah I really need help here.)
Separately, technically the kid is Lyther and the fully Time Lord Doctor's kid, but since Corin is still the same person (even after Ten regenerated) he is also the boy's parent..
The fully Time Lord Doctor is called Thete by Lyther, Corin and anyone else in the know.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Their son, Roranicus 'Rory' Arthur Tyler was a normal child if a little quiet thanks, in at least a small part, to being more of a faster learner due to having a Time Lord brain from his father, he was only in Kindergarten and yet already understood concepts you might learn in year 5 of primary school. It would have been more if Lyther had let Corin teach him further, but she wanted to fit in at least a little with the humans around them, and their son knowing Quantum physics by the age of 6 is a lot to much, that's why she put the name 'Rory Tyler' on his School registration forms the year before.
Not that Lyther cared much how people saw her and Corin, after all Corin had chosen that name and she liked it, but Rory? Rory was just a kid, he deserved to be seen, even if a bit weird, as a mostly normal kid, despite his mad inventor of a father and equally mad, if less scientifically gifted, mother.
One day, after getting home from school Rory ran up the stairs, to his room and shut the door loudly, not quite a slam, but not the usual volume that he'd shut it.
They gave each other a glance, Lyther speaking up first, "should we go and ask him what's wrong?"
"No, I'm sure he'll come to us when he's ready." Corin answered.
Lyther nodded, "alright" she said, "let's go sit down then."
They went and sat down on the couch together. Corin turned on the TV...
As they were about to talk about what to watch, they heard a familiar noise..
"Is that...?"
"No, somehow the materialization noise sounds slightly different... Though how there'd be a Time Lord around that isn't Thete, I have no idea." Corin rubbed his chin as he thought.
There wasn't much time to think as the door of the cabinet-shaped TARDIS opened and a face poked out, "hello.." Then their eyes widened, 'sorry I hadn't meant to park in a house. In my universe no one lives here."
Lyther grinned, she had known, no matter how many times both Thete and Corin told her there weren't, that there were Time Lords in other universes.
"But the causal nexus- I thought those were almost impossible to cross.. Even more them alternate universes after.."
"Wait!' Someone else could be heard from inside the TARDIS before a young lady also poked her face out... "Dad?"
"Jenny?" Corin's eyes widened, "you're alive?"
"Yup," Jenny popped the 'p' with a grin.
"Wait..." The new guy, a brown-skinned ginger with blue eyes, looked towards Corin. "Dad?"
It took Corin a second to fully register what exactly the implications and the look in the man's eyes, "which one are you?"
"Why can't you tell?"
"That's a long story that I'll answer once you tell that you're one of my better kids."
"You mean just not Mikaylonixorion?"
"He wasn't the only terror, even if it was his horrid decision that made me take Susan and run." Corin gave him a look.
"Okay, alright yeah... it's me, Zaiden."
"Okay, so one of the better ones, even if you did join the CIA."
Zaiden shrugged, "well, I wanted adventure, but I couldn't quiet run like you. I didn't have a good enough reason."
Corin nodded, "fair enough..."
Lyther took this as their opportunity to speak, "It's nice to meet you, Zaiden, my name is Lytherionactropoliseus, or Lyther, not quite a Time Lord, though our species' do have a similar longwinded naming structure. I disguised myself as a human for awhile until your father found me." She smiled and stood up, putting her hand out to shake.
Zaiden smiled back and shook her hand, "it's a pleasure, I assume you're my step-mother as well?"
"How did you guess?" She asked rhetorically, with a sweet tone.
Zaiden laughed, "you just feel like Dad's type, almost more then Mom was."
Lyther smiled, "I guess you clocked me right away." She let go of her handshake with Zaiden and looked at the other blond in the room, "and Jenny, it's so nice to finally meet you. I had a feeling you might have beaten the odds and lived, so like your father."
Jenny grinned, "yea, it's great to finally met you, Dad mentioned you quite a few times last time I talked to you."
"All good things?"
"Oh yeah, of course."
Lyther nodded and looked at Corin, "now dear, shall we explain to them how you are here and not quite as telepathic as you once were?"
"Oh sure..." He did then tell the story of his creation within the 27 planets event, with Lythers help in places.
After a few moments of silence Zaiden Spoke, "Human-Time Lord Biological Metacrisis?"
"Yeah... The Time Lord version of me is travelling around space and time at this moment, saving planets and all that he does come back on occasion, especially since Rory needs some almost proper Time Lord training."
"Rory?" Zaiden asked.
"Our son," Lyther answered, "He ran up to his room just moments before you materialized here."
As if on que, footsteps could be heard coming down the stairs. "Ah, there's the little guy."
"Popsss, I'm not that little!" Rory exclaimed, the pout evident in his voice.
"Ohhh." Zaiden grinned, "a little brother!"
"Brother?" Rory asked as he walked into the living room.
"Yeah, I'm from another universe, but I plan to always come back here, and I'm a way better driver then what I've heard of Dad."
"Oi!" Corin exclaimed.
"12 months, not 12 hours. Not to mention that time you brought the TARDIS back here 2 days later instead of two hours, Thete could barely bare waiting for that time."
Rory grinned, "yeah, Dad was running up the walls more then I was."
Lyther ruffled Rory's hair with a chuckle. "I'm almost certain Rory is the only child with less energy then his father, especially at the age of four."
Zaiden snorted, "Really? Well, that might have to do with Rory being an only child, I was the third child of five, we could be rather chaotic."
"Extremely so," Corin agreed, "but Roranicus here is a quiet kid in comparison to most of you guys."
"Why did Dad name me that? It's some kind of Roman name. I prefer my nickname."
"I like Roranicus," Zaiden shrugged, "at least it's more human-y then my full name."
"Yeah, not nearly as bad as Gallifreyan names." Corin agreed.
"I'm glad none of the kids at school know my real name, but they're already so mean because I'm quieter and smarter too!"
"Don't worry about what they say, Rory, you're the most amazing boy I've ever known." Lyther said and Corin nodded with a grin.
Notes:
Yes, Rory calls Corin and Thete by different names, and no 10 hasn't regenerated yet, well this is only two years off from 11 crash landing into Amelia's back garden soo... Yeah.
Chapter 4
Summary:
He was about to reveal the truth to the Doctor.
Chapter Text
A long time ago The Master would have genuinely called themself good... When they were still Koschmazulanatikal Koschei at the Academy... When they could still call Thelar Theta their friend, running through fields of blue red grass the smell of Lytherion Arkytior blossoms and the feel of wind rushing through their hair as they pushed and shoved sent each other fun prank ideas telepathically as their hands brushed occasionally...
They had recently found out how regeneration came to be and he wasn't sure if he was more mad about what was done to their friend, the fact that regeneration had come from the abuse of a child, or the fact that it had come from the Doctor of all people... Theta, their first friend and biggest enemy. She really had tried to change, but of course that didn't last, the Master could never be 'good' as much as the Doctor wished it.
Maybe Lyther could help him, after all even when she was disguised as Rose Tyler she could still stop the Drums for as long as they'd shook hands for. Although after he had betrayed the Doctor and stabbed themself in the back... Not to mention 'The Year That Never Was' before that, they doubted she'd forgive them.
The Drums get louder in moments when THOSE memories resurface, that was why ever since she started to remember they'd buried the memories deep into the back of their mind, but even with how good they usually were in matters of brains, thoughts, and how to control them, they couldn't seem to do it with these stupid memories after their most recent trip into the matrix. Unlike the Doctor they weren't lucky enough to have had their memories erased.
No, instead they regained their memories of a previous life, and they can't seem to leave them the hell alone.
Ba-bum, Ba-bum, Ba-bum, Ba-bum.
He wouldn't couldn't kill the Doctor, but he would reveal this to her, probably cause an identity crisis or two. How could he reveal this kindly, kindness wasn't his thing, maybe if Lyther had revealed it, but no. Lyther had told Missy that she had to be the one to tell The Doctor. So here the master was, in the Matrix waiting for the Doctor to get there.
"Maz, what the hell are you doing here?" A familiar voice asked, although it wasn't the Doctor as he'd expected.
"Lyther," he responded, "I could ask you the same thing."
"Okay, well I was going to ask you about what you've been thinking with all your stunts. We both know that you don't want to do this, I can see it in your eyes Maz..."
"What am I supposed to do? Changing didn't work, it didn't stick! I can't be good not anymore!" He looked away from her, "I should have followed you that day... When you left Yerfillag, then Rassilon wouldn't even have known I existed, let alone put these damn drums in my head!" He growled, "they get louder whenever I even think about that time!"
BA-DUM, BA-DUM, BA-DUM, BA-DUM.
The Master saw as Lyther walked towards them, "no! Don't come closer- I don't deserve to be purified of the drums!" That was the truth, after everything they've done, The Master doesn't deserve that.
Lyther continued walking towards him anyway. "Maz," she spoke softly, taking his hand in hers "I'm so sorry I told you to do this, finding the truth out must have destroyed you... And with your mental state being how it is... it's no wonder you snapped and relapsed."
He knew he should pull away but he was nothing if not selfish... The Drums were gone, and he could feel Lyther's soothing presence in his mind.
"It doesn't mean I like or agree with your actions in the slightest, but no matter what you're still my sibling, and I love you."
"I..." Koschmazulanatikal The Master swallowed through the lump in his throat, "I love you too..." That was the first time in centuries that the Master had legitimately said those words in a truthful manner. It felt nice....
"Now, I think tHe Doctor's about to get here, I don't want them to know I'm here yet. I'm sorry, I'll see you in a bit." Lyther's sorrow could be felt even as she let go of his hand.
The drums immediately returned, beating against his skull as Lyther went further into the Matrix...
BA-DUM, BA-DUM, BA-DUM, BA-DUM.
Only mere seconds later did the Doctor appear In the Matrix.
Chapter 5
Summary:
They're back on Yerfillag after centuries.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
It was common knowledge on Yerfillag that not everything could be found through science, such as the animal forms that around 50% of the population could transform into. Most were some form of large four-legged animal, although there were some who were, for example the size of a house pet, or on rarer occasions, something like a rodent. Though, even those with the large feline or lupine forms have variations such as fur color even between those that can match their biped form versus those that don't,
For those that do match their biped hair colors.
The most common colors black and brown.
The least common hair/fur colors are: blond, red/ginger and white (albino).
For those that don't match their biped hair colors.
The most common colors are White (non-albino), and yellow
The least common/most rare colors are pure gold and bronze.
These forms do not change through regeneration, even the eye color stays the same. the fur on the animal doesn't always match the Celestial's hair color either, often does for the black and brown haired ones it will, for the blond and ginger ones it is possible too because those can be natural hair colors, but pure gold and bronze? No, gold and bronze coats don't match hair colors as those are not natural ones.
There have been combinations of different shades, like light and dark brown, or even in rare appearances, dark brown and black. It is even rarer, though seen in about 1& of this population to have ginger and brown, at 0.5% it is even rarer for one to have gold and white or gold and yellow.
How to tell the difference between Gold and yellow:
These to are similar but for one, the golden coat will shine brighter, and will almost glow in the dark if groomed properly, either they groom themself like an animal in their form, or someone else will have to groom them with the proper shampoo for their hair type. Thich, thin, straight, curly, et cetera.
Golden coats are usually very thick as well as soft and need lots of caring for...
Lyther was finally able to come home, she had to brush up on this since even the TARDIS didn't have this, it seemed that, despite how those Time Lords became how they did by experimenting on the one she had always loved the most, they had somehow been able to ignore it, either that or the Doctor didn't care enough to have the TARDIS keep any books about shifters in the TARDIS' library.
"Whatcha reading?" She looked up and smiled.
"Heya, Maz. Just rereading about shifters. Did they teach about them on Gallifrey? I could never find any books in the TARDIS library about them..."
"They did, technically, but we were taught to basically ignore it, because only one quarter of he population of Time Lords had the ability, and despite them being one, Theta never cared enough to reread any of the class material on it."
"wait, only 25% how did it become half as likely when the one who gave them the ability to both regenerate and shift was a shifter in the first place?"
"I have no idea, Tecteun probably tried her best to modify the genetics to not have the shifting ability at all, but failed." He smirked at the idea the bitch had failed, "and that's good because I couldn't imagine not having my shifter form."
"Me neither Maz, it's actually been awhile since I've seen it, you wanna go out for a run in our forms?"
"Sure, why not. It might be fun."
The twins as they once were and are again, ran outside and transformed into their animal forms, both wolves, Lyther pure golden with chocolate brown eyes, and Maz with an inky black coat and piercing blue eyes. They looked at each other and then howled at the sky before running side-by-side as they once did, although they'd often have had Thelar between them, with a bronze coat and green eyes and Donna behind them with her ginger coat and green eyes.
But this time it was only the twins running together occasionally bumping together, before playfully jumping at each other with playful growls.
They tousled in the blue grass, for a moment both imagining that they were children again, playing together and waiting for their two friends to join them. lightly biting and scratching each other, not enough for permanent marks, just playing.
"Oi!" They looked up simultaneously to see... Donna... Oh yeah, she had come with the Doctor, who despite not remembering had wanted to see their old home. Lyther had called Donna who was at the time on earth with her husband, Shaun, to ask if she had wanted to come. She of course had agreed, how had they both forgotten?
Lyther gave her an apologetic look, and sent telepathically, 'do you wanna come play, for old time sake?'
Donna grinned and transformed into her lupine form, with a howl and jumped at the two.
At some point later the Doctor had joined them, despite not remembering any point before being Theta Sigma of house Lungbarrow they had joined the other three in their play-fighting.
All in all, it was a very fun time, it was a few hours before the four of them were called inside for lunch, as if they really were kids again, and wow! The home cooked Luffaigi that Aunt Cora made was one of the best things she'd eaten in awhile. She was almost sad that they'd be leaving to travel the next day. Although the travelling would still never really get old.
Notes:
Yes, this is post series 12... I still can't decide how much I should change the timeline for this AU vs canon, what I do know, however is that Donna opened her Chameleon arch watch just after the metacrisis happened, so Corin is still very much human even though Donna isn't. Can't have two Time Lord Doctors running around the same universe, can we?
If you're wondering, the main difference between Celestials and Time Lords is the amount of regenerations. while the Time Lords were made to have 12 regenerations by Tecteun and Rassilon, a natural Celestial has 120000 regenerations, Yes The Doctor for the first, and every subsequent, cycle post mindwipe of experiments was forced into the same cycle as every Time Lord. After every mindwipe they were given a new cycle and de-aged.
