Chapter Text
It should've been a nice vacation.
A nice, pleasant, and stress-free vacation.
Just a nice vacation to Alola—soaking up the divine rays of Solgaleo while hearing others complain about "too much water".
A nice vacation.
Oh, how Pollux the Eelektross wished it was just a nice, pleasant, and stress-free vacation.
What was supposed to be a month long vacation in Alola with his trainer Emmet and his brother, Ingo, along with the other pokemon they had, turned into misery. They were set to return home by August 31...
It was the morning of August 27 when the trainers disappeared.
Everyone was in shambles. They searched high and low for them, but found no trace of them. They ran through many possibilities for the cause of this (like abandonment, they're actually just talking a super long walk without them, or ...death), but there were already reasonable answers on why this couldn't be the case (the twins love their pokemon so much that if they didn't, none of said pokemon would be here today, neither of them can handle being in the sun for too long or they'll get headaches, and death... They didn't have a valid reason to combat the possibility of them passing.)
It's August 29, two days after the incident, and no one was doing well. Most of them had been in their pokeballs for hours, and those who aren't were currently in mourning. Pollux was part of the latter, as he curled up in one of Emmet's many white coats (though this one was for the winter, given the fluff). The Joltiks were on him as well, draining out the excess electricity he accumulated due to stress. Once they did that, they all scurried off to the other room, possibly to annoy their mother. The EleFish pokemon pouted a bit, he wanted them to stay for a little longer but alas, the Joltiks are fickle little things.
Pollux yawned as he snuggled up to the coat more: tossing, turning, anything and everything. Though he never showed it, the electric eel is very worried about both of them (but moreso for Emmet). If the twins were no longer alive then...
"..." Pollux didn't want to think about the outcome. He can't accept their death. None of them will. Tears spilled from his eyes before silently sobbing into the fluffy coat. He's horrified at that thought, he doesn't like it at all. But what if...
No, no, no... That's impossible. If they truly were dead, then Castor's flames would've burned bri-
...Where IS Castor?
Sadness quickly turned into panic and urgency when Pollux realized that the sentient chandelier that was the new form of the carcass of his twin which feeds off of the life energy of others is not here with him. Untangling himself from the coat, Pollux dashed around the vacation house in search for his brother, feeling his heart rate rise rapidly. Every area he went to, there was no sign of Castor... And he certainly wasn't going to disturb the others to ask if they knew where he was.
Just as he was making a round to the corner, Pollux saw bright purple lights coming from the small gap under the bathroom door. Not letting this chance go, he quickly went over to bang on the door, "Castor? Castor, are you in there?!" Pollux cried out. A moment of silence passed... Then one, then two... Before the doorknob started to twist. "Please stand back!", said the voice from the other side (just in time because Pollux had already moved away when the doorknob moved... And he could've sworn that Castor's voice sounds different.)
The door swung open, the scent of wax and ember enveloping the room. Pollux coughed for a bit before squinting his eyes at the figure that emerged before they widened: a familiar body with an unfamiliar smile. Their feet didn't touch the ground, for they were floating and a purple aura glowed around their body. It took Pollux a few seconds before registering that this was...
"...CASTOR?!??!" Pollux was confused and shocked: his Chandelure of a brother... Took on his (Castor's) trainer's form. Castor only nodded, "Indeed, brother. I'm sorry if I scared you for a moment." The ghost Pokemon–now human wore Ingo's pajamas to cover himself: he looks exactly like his owner... If you didn't pay attention to the fact he's floating, glowing and smiling.
The paralyzed (haha) Eelektross blinked two times before shaking himself out of his stunned daze. "...N-no, it's ok. But... Why are you taking on Ingo's form? You swore to never do it again after... You know..." "Ah..." The two shared an awkward silence this time (although it is technically Pollux's fault for bringing up the 'incident'). "Well that's all in the past, so let's not mind it right now," Castor said. "Since there is, unfortunately, no trace of Ingo and Emmet, I thought that maybe... We can take their places." He explains all too casually, for Pollux at least.
Pollux... Didn't know what to say now. Now, on one hand he wanted to go along so that no one would think something bad happened. But on the other... Could they really pull it off? Can they play it safe enough to not get caught? Castor looked back at him, waiting patiently for his answer. After a solid minute, Pollux gave in, "...Alright. But if Helen sniffs us out, I'm blaming you." Castor only chuckled, "She won't, I promise." He assured.
A lightbulb seemed to go off in Castor's head, for his face lit up and pulled out a bottle of pink liquid. Pollux tilted his head, "What is-" "Since you can't really transform into a human like me, I asked a friend for help." Castor interjected. It took Pollux a second to register which friend his brother was talking about and was immediately concerned for himself. "Are you sure?" "Yes." "But he doesn't even know what-" "Trust me."
Pollux sighed before taking the bottle and gulping it down in one go... Big mistake because his face scrunched up once he realized the flavor that he almost threw up before physically stopping himself to drink it all disdainfully. Castor winced at his expression, but before he could say anything, Pollux's long body started to morph into a human's. Once the transformation was over, Castor hovered to Pollux's side as he fell to his knees, coughing. "Sweet?," he asked while rubbing his now-human as well brother's back. "Sweet..." Pollux hissed in reply. They both really don't like sweet flavors.
