Work Text:
Playing rock, paper, scissors with Han Sooyoung on a sunny Saturday really isn't a part of my plan, it never even crossed my mind.
"We're too old for this, Han Sooyoung."
"No, you're wrong. You're just a boring man, Kim Dokja. Learn how to have fun." HSY said rolling her eyes at me.
"Just one more and you will have to do a dare, KDJ."
"I know how to have fun, HSY." now it was my turn to roll my eyes.
"I won't lose to you." I said but luck really is not on my side. I'm losing by a landslide and it's not funny.
"Yes..."
"...by reading." the both of us said at the same time smiling at each other. And by then my loss was also evident, I showed paper while HSY showed Rock.
"You lose!" HSY shouted while pointing and laughing at me at the same time.
Sigh.
"What is it?" I asked pertaining to the dare I have to do unwillingly but I will still go through because I'm a man of my words. I don't bail on my promises or commitments.
"Hmm..." with one hand on her chin and one finger on her temple, HSY acted like she's thinking for something but I know her, I know the smirk on her lips, I know that she already planned what I'm going to do, like she's so sure I was gonna lose. And she was right, I lost.
"I dare you... to cross the street, tell someone that they're cute, give them your number, and then run away."
Dejectedly, I responded a simple, "Fine."
HSY offered me a napkin and a pen.
"You really are not prepared for this, HSY." I said, sarcastically. And all I got from her is another smirk.
Sighing, I wrote my number on the napkin and gucking it on my pocket after.
While waiting for red to turn green, I observed the street in front of me. Finding a suitable target, someone that won't get offended or someone that clearly has no significant other that I may anger if I so much as go near them.
Unfortunately, red turned green and I still haven't found someone.
"Faster, KDJ!" HSY shouted, clearly impatient.
And as HSY instructed, shouted rather, I jogged. Looking from right to left scanning a safe target I belatedly remember to dodge the streetsign that is positioned too low to be lawful.
Really. Just my unlucky luck.
Holding my forehead, trying to still myself in spite of my world spinning slightly, I felt a hand at my back.
"Are you okay?"
"Do you think---"
Remembering the dare—yes, despite my spinning world—I looked up. And oh gosh is he so handsome that it's so out of this world.
"Hurry up!" HSY once again shouted. I don't even know how the hell is her voice so loud. It's kinda embarrassing sometimes.
"You're cute, do you know that?" I said. And I didn't get any reply from him.
Giving him the best "charming" smile I could, I took the napkin
from my pocket, took his free hand—the one not on my back—and placed the napkin on it.
"Thanks for the concern. Call me." was the last thing I said before running back across the street and leaving the site with HSY who is laughing at my clumsiness and my bruised forehead.
