Work Text:
I’m wishing you all well
Mind at peace within your cell
Eddie lay in bed, reading a book that caught his eye at the library the other day. He kept his laser focus on the pages and words until he felt a dip in the bed. Chris.
He smiled to himself, still reading as he felt the weight of the other man on his chest, the mop of hair spreading across his chest as he shut the book and gently set it on their nightstand, grabbing the corner of their comforter and casting it over them, the fabric melting into their connected shape.
Covers up, I cast you off
I’ll be watching as you breathe
I lie still, you move, I send
Eddie watched Chris, his eyes lazily coming up to make eye contact, Eddie feeling their heartbeats pressed against eachother, the way Chris shifted to get comfortable. Everything he did was beautiful in Eddie’s eyes.
You… off around the bend
The shorter let out a content sigh, his arm eventually snaking around Chris and holding him close, the other coming up to rub circles with his thumb on his forehead to coax his eyes shut, watching the other man as he drifted off into quiet sleep.
I hold your head deep in my arms
My fingertips they close your eyes
Off you dream, my little child
There's a sun around the bend
There's a sun around the bend
Eddie kept his eyes on his partner for who knows how long, watching his peaceful expression as he slept. He felt at peace, the weight of the other seeming to push out any other strain on his body. Just what they both needed.
All evenings close like this
All these moments that I've missed
Please forgive me, won't you, dear?
Please forgive and let me share
With you around the bend
The man awake eventually realized it was time for him to sleep too, snapping out of his trance and reaching for the light and taking his reading glasses off. The lamp was switched off, darkness enveloping the room. Eddie slowly relaxed his muscles, his eyes shutting as his hands found his way to the other man’s hair, the soft locks against his skin.
Inevitably, sleep came over him, washing him away to a land of peace where he knew harm couldn’t catch up to him.
You're an angel when you sleep
How I want your soul to keep
On and on around the bend
