Work Text:
The studio lights cast everything in amber when Jongseong walked in, twenty-three minutes late to their scheduled session. Heeseung didn't look up from the mixing board immediately, couldn't, if he was being honest with himself. His fingers continued to adjust levels with practiced precision even though every setting had been perfect for the past ten minutes, the same ten minutes he'd spent trying to convince himself that the flutter in his chest wasn't anticipation, wasn't the pathetic eagerness of someone who had been counting down hours like a man dying of thirst counts drops of water.
He'd heard the door, felt the shift in the room's energy like a discordant note breaking through carefully orchestrated harmony. More than that, he'd caught the familiar scent, that expensive cologne Jongseong wore without even thinking about it, the way some people breathe. It clung to everything, the air, Heeseung's clothes after their sessions, the inside of his car when he gave Jongseong rides home in the rain. It had taken up residence in Heeseung's apartment like a ghost he couldn't exorcise, following him into dreams he woke from aching and desperate and hating himself for wanting something he couldn't have.
"You're late," Heeseung said finally, still not turning around. His voice carried that particular edge he'd perfected over years of dealing with difficult artists, but underneath, his chest felt tight with the kind of desperate relief that came from finally getting the fix he'd been craving all day.
"Traffic was awful." The lie came easily, as it always did with Jongseong, but god, even his voice was unfair. Rich and warm with that subtle rasp that made everything sound like pillow talk, like secrets whispered in dark rooms. It was the kind of voice that belonged on late-night radio, designed to make lonely people feel less alone, to make them lean closer to their speakers and pretend they were being spoken to specifically.
The truth was, Jongseong had been sitting in his car in the parking garage for fifteen minutes, staring at his reflection and wondering why he'd chosen this particular outfit, why his heart was hammering against his ribs like something caged and desperate to get out. He'd been doing this for weeks now, arriving with his pulse already racing, his skin hypersensitive to every glance, every accidental brush of fingers when Heeseung adjusted his headphones.
When Heeseung finally swiveled in his chair, the breath he'd been holding escaped in one sharp exhale.
Jongseong stood in the doorway like he belonged in a painting, all long lines and casual elegance that seemed entirely unconscious. One shoulder against the frame, hip cocked just enough to emphasize the lean grace of his body, that soft smile playing at his lips, not the calculated seduction Heeseung sometimes caught glimpses of, but something gentler, more natural. Like he was genuinely happy to be here, happy to see Heeseung specifically, and the devastating innocence of it made something clench painfully in Heeseung's chest.
The suit was dark olive green, rich as forest shadows after rain, tailored to perfection across shoulders that seemed broader every time Heeseung saw them. The blazer hung open like an afterthought, revealing the deep V of the neckline that plunged low enough to show the hollow of his throat, the sharp line of his collarbones. No shirt underneath, and Heeseung's brain stuttered trying to process whether this was deliberate provocation or just Jongseong's natural unconsciousness of his own effect on people.
The golden skin that stretched between the dark fabric seemed to glow in the amber light, unmarked and perfect, begging for fingerprints and teeth marks and every claiming touch Heeseung had been imagining for months in the shameful privacy of his own apartment.
"Like what you see, hyung?"
The words fell from Jongseong's lips like they belonged there, casual and affectionate and completely devastating in their innocence. There was no calculated seduction in it, no deliberate provocation, just genuine curiosity tinged with something that might have been hope, and it hit Heeseung like a physical blow to realize that Jongseong actually wanted his approval, actually cared what he thought.
Heeseung's mouth had gone dry, his tongue darting out to wet his lips in a gesture so automatic he didn't realize he was doing it until he caught Jongseong's eyes tracking the movement with fascinated attention.
"We should get started," Heeseung managed, his voice rough with the effort of maintaining professionalism when every cell in his body was screaming at him to catalog every inch of exposed skin, to memorize the exact shade of gold Jongseong's collarbones turned in the amber light.
But instead of moving to his usual position on the couch, Jongseong drifted closer, moving with that unconscious grace that made everything look like dancing. He wasn't trying to be seductive, Heeseung had seen him when he was being deliberately provocative, all sharp edges and calculated charm. This was different. This was just Jongseong existing in his own skin, comfortable and unconscious of the way the fabric of his blazer shifted with each movement, revealing new glimpses of skin that made Heeseung's fingers ache with the need to touch.
"Of course, hyung. Always so focused." Jongseong's voice carried a warmth that suggested genuine affection rather than challenge, but there was something underneath it, a kind of restless energy that spoke of someone fighting their own impulses. "Sometimes I wonder what it would take to make you lose that focus, just once."
The admission was soft, almost absent, like he was thinking out loud rather than deliberately trying to provoke. Which made it infinitely more dangerous, because it suggested that Jongseong thought about making Heeseung lose control the way other people thought about the weather, casually, frequently, without fully understanding the implications.
"Control," Heeseung said carefully, "is important in a professional setting."
"Is it?" Jongseong moved toward the vocal booth, but every step was an education in unconscious sensuality. The way his hips moved, the casual roll of his shoulders, the absent gesture of running his fingers through his hair, none of it calculated, all of it absolutely lethal. "Because sometimes I think you're a little too controlled, hyung. Sometimes I wonder what you'd be like if you just... let go."
When Jongseong stepped into the booth and began adjusting the microphone, his blazer fell open completely, and Heeseung had to grip the arms of his chair to keep from making a sound. The expanse of golden skin was even more devastating up close, smooth and perfect and unmarked in ways that made Heeseung's mouth water with the need to change that.
But it was the way Jongseong moved that was truly destroying him, completely unconscious of his own effect, adjusting the mic stand with the kind of casual flexibility that made the blazer slip off one shoulder entirely. He wasn't performing; he was just existing, just being impossibly beautiful in the most natural way possible, and it was killing Heeseung by degrees.
"Can you hear me okay?" Jongseong's voice came through the monitors, and there was something almost vulnerable in the question, like he genuinely wanted to make sure everything was perfect for Heeseung specifically.
"Yeah," Heeseung managed, his voice coming out rougher than intended. "Perfect. You sound perfect."
The smile that spread across Jongseong's face at the praise was incandescent, transforming his features from merely beautiful to something that belonged in religious art. Pure joy, unselfconscious and radiant, and Heeseung felt something crack in his chest at the realization that such a simple compliment could make Jongseong light up like that.
When Jongseong began to sing, Heeseung understood with devastating clarity that he was fucked beyond redemption.
The voice that filled the space between them wasn't just technically perfect, it was intimate, like Jongseong was singing directly into Heeseung's ear rather than into a microphone. Rich and warm and slightly breathless, with that subtle rasp that made every note sound like a caress. But more than that, there was something unguarded about the way he sang when he thought no one was really listening, something raw and honest that he probably wasn't even aware he was revealing.
Heeseung watched through the glass as Jongseong lost himself in the music, eyes closed, body swaying slightly with the rhythm. The blazer had slipped further off his shoulders now, hanging on by nothing more than the slope of his arms, and every movement revealed more of that golden skin that seemed to glow like it was lit from within.
But it was the expression on his face that finally broke something vital in Heeseung's chest. Pure vulnerability, the kind that belonged in bedrooms and confessionals, the look of someone who had completely forgotten to perform and was just... being. Being beautiful and unguarded and absolutely devastating without even trying.
The song ended, leaving them suspended in charged silence. Jongseong's eyes opened slowly, finding Heeseung's through the glass with an intensity that felt like being seen for the first time in years.
"How was that?" The question was soft, genuinely seeking approval, and there was something in his eyes that suggested Heeseung's opinion mattered more than any review, any critic, any industry professional who might eventually hear this recording.
"Again," Heeseung said, his voice barely recognizable even to himself. "From the bridge."
The second take was even more devastating. Jongseong seemed to settle deeper into the song, deeper into that unconscious sensuality that was destroying Heeseung's carefully maintained professionalism. The way he moved to the rhythm, the absent gesture of running his fingers through his hair, the arch of his back as he reached for higher notes, none of it performed, all of it absolutely lethal.
Heeseung's knuckles had gone white where they gripped the armrests of his chair, and he was vaguely aware that his breathing had gone shallow, desperate. Six months of careful control were dissolving under the weight of watching Jongseong exist in his own skin, beautiful and unconscious and so perfectly unaware of the effect he was having.
"One more time," he managed when the song ended, his voice thick with something that had nothing to do with professional feedback.
By the third take, Heeseung was hanging onto his sanity by threads. Jongseong had completely lost himself in the performance now, moving with unconscious grace that made the blazer slip and shift with every gesture. The fabric was barely clinging to his shoulders, held up by nothing more than luck and the laws of physics, and Heeseung was rapidly running out of reasons not to cross every professional boundary he'd ever established.
The way Jongseong's throat worked around the notes. The flutter of his eyelashes when he hit the emotional peak of the song. The absent way he licked his lips during the instrumental bridge, completely unconscious of the gesture but devastating in its casual sensuality.
"That's enough," Heeseung said finally, but his voice came out strangled, desperate.
The booth door opened, and suddenly there was no barrier between them except Heeseung's rapidly dissolving self-control. Jongseong stepped into the control room, bringing with him the scent of expensive cologne and warm skin and something indefinable that made Heeseung's mouth water.
"Enough?" Jongseong's voice was breathless from singing, but there was something else underneath it, a kind of restless energy that suggested he was feeling the same electric tension that was making Heeseung's skin feel too tight. "But I feel like I'm just finding the right... feeling."
He moved closer, close enough that Heeseung could see the way his chest rose and fell with each breath, could count the individual droplets of sweat that had gathered at the hollow of his throat. Close enough to notice that Jongseong's pupils were dilated, his cheeks flushed with something that had nothing to do with exertion.
"You're..." Heeseung started, then stopped, because how could he explain that Jongseong was devastating him without even trying? That every unconscious gesture was unraveling months of careful control? That he was seconds away from doing something that would destroy every professional boundary they'd established?
"I'm what, hyung?" Jongseong's voice was soft, genuinely curious, and there was something in his eyes that suggested he was finally becoming aware of the effect he was having. Not calculating it, not weaponizing it, just... noticing it for the first time.
The realization that Jongseong was just now understanding his own power was the final nail in the coffin of Heeseung's self-control.
"Destroying me," he admitted, the words torn from somewhere deep in his chest. "You're absolutely destroying me, and you don't even know it."
Jongseong's breath caught, his eyes going wide with something that looked like wonder rather than triumph. "Hyung..."
"Do you have any idea," Heeseung continued, his voice rough with months of suppressed desperation, "what it's been like? Watching you, wanting you, trying to be professional when all I can think about is marking every inch of that skin you show off so carelessly?"
"I didn't realize..." Jongseong whispered, but there was something in his voice now, a breathless quality that suggested he was finally understanding the game they'd been playing without rules.
"No," Heeseung said, standing slowly, deliberately, like a predator finally done with restraint. "You didn't realize. You just existed, just walked around being impossibly beautiful and unconscious of it, and it's been killing me for months."
When his hand finally came up to trace the line of Jongseong's jaw, the younger man melted into the touch like he'd been waiting for it his entire life.
"Show me," Jongseong breathed against his palm, and there was nothing calculated about it, just raw want and the devastating honesty of someone finally understanding what they'd been unknowingly offering. "Show me what I've been doing to you."
Heeseung's control, so carefully maintained for months, didn't just break, it incinerated completely, leaving nothing but desperate want and the primitive satisfaction of finally being given permission to take what had been inadvertently offered for so long.
When their lips met, it was with the force of months of suppressed hunger finally being unleashed. Jongseong yielded to it completely, his unconscious sensuality finally finding its purpose, and Heeseung understood with devastating clarity that this, this desperate, beautiful surrender, was what he'd been slowly going insane waiting for.
"Still don't understand what you do to me?" Heeseung murmured against his lips, his hands fisting in the fabric of that damned blazer that had been tormenting him all evening.
Jongseong's smile was radiant with newfound understanding and something that looked suspiciously like relief. "I'm starting to," he whispered. "But I think I need more demonstration."
And finally, finally, Heeseung stopped pretending that professional restraint was anything more than self-torture, and decided to show Jongseong exactly what months of unconscious seduction had been doing to him.
