Work Text:

Lying together on an old picnic blanket, Luna and Pansy watched the clouds pass by in the clear sky. Luna was on one of her rambles, this time about how that cloud looked especially like a Nargle, the sun supposedly giving it a mischievous glint. Pansy, as usual, was listening.

They were alone in a forest clearing, nothing for miles other than themselves and the sounds of nature. The light covered everything in a dreamy glow, and the birds sang in the canopy, filling the air with a pleasant melody – pure bliss, as far as she was concerned. A moment stolen away from the world, just for them.

Picking a buttercup, Pansy twirled it in her fingers, the yellow petals shimmering as they spun.

"You know," Luna spoke quietly, rolling over, "sometimes, I see you as the sun."

Looking to her, at her hair glowing in the light, Pansy laughed softly. "The sun? I think that's you."

Luna shook her head. "No, my love. The sun is far too unforgiving for me."

Propping herself up so that they were eye to eye, Pansy pouted at her playfully, earning a gentle giggle in return.

"You think I'm unforgiving?"

"I think you're you – unapologetic, shameless, bold. You burn bright, louder than most of us. The sun, in all its glory."

Her fingers traced over Pansy's, taking the flower that she held. Holding it up, Luna's eyes softened as she watched the yellow glisten under her chin.

The sun, or more accurately, Luna's sun.

"I suppose that makes you the moon, then?" Pansy asked. She turned away to a small patch of daisies dancing in the breeze.

"One could only dream of being her…" Luna sighed, and Pansy was sure she'd already thought of being so thoroughly, "but I see what you're saying."

She plucked a few, crossing her legs and facing away momentarily, focused on chaining them together.

"Quiet and lonely," Luna continued faintly.

"You can be quiet with others," Pansy replied, "but no, that's not why."

Finishing forming a circle – with a slight assist from her magic – she shifted back to Luna, holding the flowers behind her, but she was too busy with the clouds to notice.

"You're gentle, and kind. Bright, but in a delicate way. If we weren't held by gravity, I think you'd float quite happily amongst the stars."

"That I would," Luna replied, a smile playing on her lips, "but only if you joined me."

"Luna, I'd dance across the sky forever with you, if that would make you happy."

Pansy carefully lifted the daisies up, watching happily as her face lit up at the gesture. As she sat upright so that they could be placed on her hair, Luna scooped the yellow flower out of her lap and tucked it above Pansy's ear, her other hand finding Pansy's waist to pull her close.

"That would be fun, but I'm quite happy with you here," Luna murmured, "My beautiful sun, all mine."

"My gentle moon," Pansy whispered back, softly pressing their lips together.

She would do anything for her, impossible dances included. But if she could stay here forever, with Luna in her arms, she would.
