Work Text:
“You—!” The young man let out a harsh sigh, “Alban, we’ve talked about this before—” Alban slightly turned his head towards the other, chuckling as he shrugged his words off, “Oh? So you’ve been keeping track of my life? Last time I checked that’s not a prefect’s job.”
Riddle’s eyebrows furrowed, his fist tightened, and— “You’re looking a bit red today Queenie, how about you have some tea? I’m sure that’ll keep your blood pressure down!” The other laughed as Riddle lashed at him, Alban ran towards one of the rose bushes, separating the both of them.
“I’ll have your head off!” Riddle yelled as he ran towards the other, the chase didn’t last long as Alban started casting a spell, “You know my defense is way too high for that— still, it’s nice that you try!” He gave the other a playful wink before summoning a portal and jumping through it.
Alban brushed his shoulders off, letting out a small laugh as he did, “That should get Riddle’s blood boiling, for now I’ll—“ He paused as he heard a groan beside him, had someone followed him. He kneeled down and started poking at the unconscious body next to him, “Hey, wake up, hasn’t anyone told you not to go down the rabbit hole?”
The other groaned, slapping Alban’s hand away from them, “You know for a stalker, you seem pretty unknowable on my unique magic.” Riddle let out another groan before muttering for Alban to shut up, “Pretty rude of you to tell me to shut up when you were the one who went through my portal,” Alban says as he continued poking the other, he only stopped when he heard the other muttering again.
Alban hummed asking Riddle to repeat himself, “..nurse.. ..throw up…”
“Only if you say yes.”
In response Riddle started to hurl causing Alban to immediately stand up, and open a portal to the nurses office, “Yeah, as much as I love teasing you, I am not dealing with puke.”
When Riddle woke up, he was greeted with the scent of tea, and a face he didn’t want to wake up to, “It’s kind of dumb of you to go through my portal knowing full well that you’re still weak to my portal’s side effects.”
“What a thoughtful thing to say to someone after just waking up,” Riddle sarcastically noted as the other handed him a cup of tea, “Don’t worry I didn’t poison it, Alistair made it.”
“I know, his tea was always better than yours.” Alban’s eye twitched, his hand gripping on the teapot tighter, “I have classes I need to get to— so if you don’t mind, in which I’m sure you don’t, I’ll be taking my leave, see you later Queenie.” With that Riddle was then left alone, he stayed in the nurses office for a few minutes before soon leaving.
Riddle, wanting to thank Alistair, soon searched for the other through the entire school, asking other students, and staff if they had seen him. Sebek told him that Alistair was last seen with Silver, but when he did find Silver the one he had been looking for was no where in sight, he then asked Ace and Deuce who were currently dragging Genjiyū away from a fight with a student after provoking them, Riddle then gave up on asking the troublesome trio and decided to ask the responsible one, Marie, who was currently getting yelled at by Sebek to get back in class. Riddle swore he had just seen Sebek on the other side of the school building.
It was nearing the end of school, Riddle then finally gave up on his search for Alistair.
As Riddle made his way back to the dormitories he heard a familiar voice, it was Alistair, Riddle sighed, of course he found the person he had been looking for after giving up, he decided not to worry too much about it as in the end he found Alistair. Riddle walked up towards the other, thanking him for the tea he had made for him, Alistair showed confusion, he hadn’t made tea for anyone, and that wasn’t a lie.
This caused Riddle confusion, wasn’t Alistair sent the tea to nurses office? Alistair laughed when Riddle explained the entire situation to him, his only response was, “Maybe you should ask our white rabbit first before you thank me.”
Alban’s ears twitched as he heard a sound behind him, it was rare for anyone to be awake this late, much less the kitchen. He paused when he heard the footsteps stopping behind him, “And what are you doing here so late? Aren’t you afraid that our Prefect will cut your head off?” He warned, not wanting another innocent student getting their head cut off, plus it kept stress away from Riddle, considering he had just recovered from an overblot.
“I— ..I wanted to thank you— for making the tea,” He stopped as he heard Riddle’s voice, placing the pot down before turning towards the other, “Did Alistair tell you?” Alban only heard shifting from Riddle.
“So he did tell you.”
“No— I just— ..Thank you okay.”
It took Alban a while before he could answer Riddle, Riddle wanting to clear the silence tried to talk but was shortly cut off as Alban handed him a cup of tea, “You’re welcome. You— You should go to sleep soon, you wouldn’t want the other’s knowing you broke your own rule.”
Riddle says a small thanks, before humming in agreement, “Goodnight, Alban.” Riddle softly smiled, as he walked towards the door, he swore he could faintly hear a quiet— “Goodnight—“
He turned back towards Alban, who seemed to be still brewing tea, Riddle knew that Alban liked his tea a bit strong, still the same as when they were kids. Seeing as the other was clearly too occupied to answer his question he left, “—Riddle.”
