Work Text:
Amongst the flowers, scattered wide,
My eyes draw to one spot.
There, woven ‘tween the poppies lies,
A lone forget-me-not.
I pass the garden by each day,
With each, grows my intrigue.
When last, I offer help, they say,
To simply let you be.
My awe compels me yet to peer,
Amid its guarded cracks.
Your picket fence, a mere veneer,
To hide their foul attacks.
I watch you wither; curl up small.
Blue petals all but fade,
Until no hue remains at all,
And they lay down their spade.
Amongst the flowers, now on high,
My eye still begs that spot.
With promise, though all flowers die,
To e’er forget you, not.
