Rin is dead, lying on the ground, blood pours from her mouth down her neck. It traces around her jaw, it slides slowly, or maybe fast. Time seems to have stopped working.
Her eyes are closed, she looks peaceful, like everything went back to how it has been before. When life has been simpler.
When Rin would drag Obito in the fields, laughing as his foot slipped and he fell on the ground filled with flowers. And she would sit down next to him. And she would giggle, and Obito would look fondly at her.
It has been simpler. It has been better. Rin loved laughing, Obito loved her laugh. Any seconds now, she would get up and laugh that he fell for this prank.
That the hole in her chest, where her heart is, is just an illusion.
She's blurry, noises fill the silence, they sound like...
Oh, he's crying, Obito realizes, hes crying and Rin isn't getting up, theres no laughter, theres no hand to rub the tears of his cheek as she smiles gently at him.
"Obito, why are you crying? " she would say, kissing his forehead "come on, Minato sensei is waiting for us" she would grab his hand and run, run like they did on the fields.
Run like she couldn't run from the danger that killed her.
But Rin can't be dead, because if Rin is dead, how is the world still alive? Still moving? Isn't the world covered in blood, isn't the world dead quiet instead of laughing? Rin should still be alive if the world hasn't stopped.
His hands are covered in her blood, as he cradles her corpse, she would want to wake up with her teammate next to her.
She will wake up confused, then see him and cry out "Obito! " as she would throw her arms around him, "how are you alive? Obito.. "
And he would tell her about Madara, and how these days of not seeing her has been a torture and how he wants to run in the fields with her again and wants her to not cry, just laugh, even if he's gone.
Because the world won't stop for Obito. But it will stop for Rin.
The world is still moving. But his world isn't.
Why? Why Rin?
Shes so injured, surely a medic can help her. If he has to hunt Lady Tsunade to save Rin so shall he!
Shes losing so much blood.
Shes so cold, this temperature must be horrible for her wounds.
He doesn't want Rin to die.
'And sometimes your wants aren't what will happen' his mind supplies, a voice like Madara, he's lying. The world needs Rin.
He needs Rin.
