“Alright, so we need vanilla, flour, chocolate chips of course, sugar, sour cream–”
“The hell we need sour cream for? Thought these muffins were meant to be sweet,” Logan interrupted.
Morph playfully swatted his arm as they continued to gather the ingredients. “They are, but a bit of sour cream keeps them moist. Now help me by greasing the pans.”
Logan shook his head, but did as he was told. He might gripe a little, but he did love helping Morph bake.
“So what’s the plan to have these ready for tomorrow? Bake tonight and nuke ’em tomorrow?”
Morph gasped dramatically . “I’m going to pretend you didn’t just say that. Absolutely blasphemous.” They stepped away from the preheating oven and started whisking some of the ingredients. “We’ll let the batter rest overnight and bake tomorrow before Jubilee gets up. Only thing left to do after that will be to sprinkle the coarse sugar on top.”
Logan tried to hide a grimace. “Does it need more sugar on top of the chocolate and what’s in the batter?” He moved to stand behind them and wrapped his arms around their waist.
“For this recipe, yes, it does. It’s bakery style.” They stopped their stirring for a moment to turn and press a kiss against his head. “When it’s your birthday, you’ll get to choose what you want.”
“What if all I want is right here?” He punctuated the question by nuzzling into the crook of their neck, making Morph laugh.
“Well, I’m still going to make something for you anyways. Can you pour the wet ingredients into the dry ones while I fold them together?”
