Tanjiro couldn't help the smile that stretched onto his face as he made his way to the Butterfly Mansion. His mission had been a success, and he was finally heading home. He couldn't wait to see his sister, his friend, and his boyfriend. He knew Inosuke would probably be fine, but he hoped Nezuko wasn't scared while he was gone. He saw the butterfly mansion come into view, and he couldn't break out into a sprint.
When he reached the entrance, he smiled and walked inside. The little butterfly girls immediately greeted him. "Hi Tanjiro! We're so happy you came back safe and sound!"
He smiled widely at them. "Hi Sumi! Hi Kiyo! Hi Naho!"
"Do you have any injuries?" Sumi asked, worried.
"Nothing serious," he assured her. "Just some bruising, but nothing a good night's sleep won't fix." He smiled at her, and her worry washed away.
"That's good!" She said, smiling again.
"Do you know where Nezuko is?" He asked. They all shook their heads. "That's okay. Do you know where Inosuke is? Or Zenitsu?"
"Zenitsu went on a mission yesterday," Naho said. "I don't know where Inosuke is, though."
"I don't either," Sumi added.
"I don't either," Kiyo.
"It's okay," he reassured them, "I'll go look for them." He walked away to look for his sister and boyfriend.
He opened the door and saw Kanao inside. "Hi, Kanao!" He said with a smile.
She paused her task and turned to him. "Hi Tanjiro," she smiled, "How was your mission?"
"It went well! No bad injuries, just some bruising," he said. "Have you seen Nezuko or Inosuke?"
"Oh, not recently," she paused, thinking. "No, I haven't seen either one in a while, but you'll probably find them together."
"Okay, thank you," he said. He didn't want to bother her anymore, so he walked away. He couldn't help but wonder why she said he would find them together.
He wasn't paying attention and accidentally bumped into someone. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" He said. He looked and realized it was Aoi. "Sorry about that, I was lost in thought."
"It's fine," she said. "How was your mission? Any serious injuries?"
"It went well! No injuries but some bruising that will heal by tomorrow," he responded.
"That's good!"
"Oh, also, have you seen Nezuko or Inosuke?" he asked.
"I haven't seen them since this morning. I had to scold that boar boy because when he was playing with her, he knocked so much stuff over," she said, getting annoyed remembering it.
"Yeah, he gets excited," he couldn't help the smile that stretched on his face when she said Inosuke played with his sister. It was nice to know some of his favorite people got along, and that Nezuko wasn't lonely. "I'll keep looking," he said as he continued his search.
Tanjiro walked the halls, still looking for his boyfriend and sister. He opened a door, thinking they might be behind it, only for Shinobu to be behind the door. "Oh, I'm sorry to bother you, Miss Kocho. I was just looking for some people," he said, about to close the door.
"Oh Tanjiro, it's never a bother," she said with a smile. "How was your mission?"
"It went well! No one died, and I only received minor bruising that should heal by tomorrow," he said with a smile.
"That's wonderful to hear," she smiled wider. "Also, who were you looking for?"
"Oh, I was just looking for Nezuko and Inosuke," he answered.
"Oh, you will find them together; they have been hanging out a lot since you left."
"Really?"
"Yeah, you should've seen how sweet Inosuke was with her. He always played with her and made sure she was okay. One night, she had a nightmare, and I went to check on her, and he was already there consoling her. When she got sad and missed you, he threw her onto his back and ran around the whole mansion till she was smiling again."
Tanjiro couldn't help the smile his lips stretched into, and the warm feeling that filled his chest. "He did that?"
"Yes, and he seemed to enjoy it too," she answered.
He smiled even wider. "Thank you for telling Miss Kocho."
"No need to thank me, Tanjiro. If you're looking for them, they may be right down the hall. I remember hearing their voices there earlier."
"Thank you Miss Kocho!" He said and went in that direction.
He slowly opened the door and noticed the lights weren't on. When he walked inside, it took him everything not to yell out "AWW". Inside the room was Nezuko in her small form, messily wrapped in blankets, and sleeping with Inosuke right by her side. He had no blankets on himself, and Tanjiro left quickly to grab him some. When he came back, he laid the blankets on his boyfriend and smiled widely at him. He placed a soft kiss on his head.
It was in this moment that Tanjiro realized his boyfriend was a trained member of the Demon Slayer Corps and could wake up from the slightest thing. In seconds, Inosuke woke up, grabbed him, and flung him to the ground, and was about to go for his throat before noticing it was him.
"Gonpachiro?" he said, confused.
"H-Hi Inosuke," Tanjiro said. He suddenly felt a heavy pressure and realized Inosuke was hugging him. He immediately hugged back. "Aw, you missed me?"
"No…" Inosuke said, clearly lying.
"I missed you, too," Tanjiro said softly. "I heard you were taking care of Nezuko while I was gone."
"Yeah, well, she means a lot to you, and I like her," he mumbled. "I could tell she missed you a lot, and I didn't like seeing her sad."
"You big sweetheart," Tanjiro teased and kissed his cheek.
"I ain't no softly!" He yelled but covered his mouth, realizing he could wake her up. He looked over and noticed she was still sleeping, and looked relieved. "I am the King of the Mountains!" he whispered.
"Yes, and I would only leave the strongest soldiers to watch over my sister," Tanjiro said.
"That's more like it," he said, smiling. He looked at Nezuko for a second and moved the blanket to make sure it was covering her. He turned back to see his boyfriend staring at him with the widest smile. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I love you, Inosuke."
Inosuke's face went red. They had said this to each other before, but every time his face would get bright red. "Love you too."
Tanjiro smiled at him before he suddenly yawned. He hadn't realized how tired he was. "Cmon, Gonpachiro, let's sleep," Inosuke said, and Tanjiro didn't have the strength to argue with him. He put his stuff off to the side and lay down. He felt Inosuke get up and looked confused, before his boyfriend came back moments later with more blankets. He smiled, and after they wrapped themselves in blankets, Tanjiro pulled his boyfriend close. He glanced over at Nezuko and smiled before drifting off to sleep surrounded by his favorite people.
