Chapter 1: Anniversary

Chapter Text

“It’s our two year anniversary, what the fuck do I get for a man who’s over 200 years old?? And don’t say alcohol cos I’m not enforcing that addiction.” said Wade.

Peter laughed, “I wasn’t going to say that, I don't know either. Was kinda hoping you’d answer the question yourself through your ranting.” He watched as Wade kept circling the car he was detailing.

“I don’t like your attitude… but I see where you’re coming from.” Wade sat down on the concrete beside Peter in defeat.

“Maybe Logan planned something for you both?” asked Peter, reaching for a clean rag.

“I mean maybe? It’s not like he could have missed the glittery hearts on the calendar.”

“Well, what did you guys get up to last year?” asked Peter, hesitant to ask.

“Oh we killed a bunch of guys and then when we got home he fu - ”

Peter put his hands over his ears, “la la la la, don’t need to know your sex life.”

“Aw but that was the best bit.” Wade laughed and laid back on the concrete looking at the clouds.

“Why don’t you talk to him and make a plan together instead of trying to surprise him?” suggested Peter, he was almost done with the car and that meant hometime.

“Eh I guess, maybe I’ll come up with something on the fly and he’ll never know.” laughed Wade as he started gathering up all the cleaning supplies, he can be helpful too ya know.

***

Wade walked through the door to his and Logan’s apartment, the scent of a vanilla candle wafted through the air and no pattering of tiny feet met him at the door.

“Logan?” Wade called out to the seemingly empty apartment.

“Just getting changed, give me a minute.” replied Logan from their bedroom. “Puppins is at Al’s before you get nervous.”

Sitting down on the couch and falling into Mount Blanket, Wade waited for his partner to appear. He wasn’t waiting long before sandalwood and old spice filled the air. Old jeans, brown jacket, and a check shirt leant down and kissed Wade on the forehead.

“Hey bub,” Logan waited for Wade to sit up before sitting next to him and pulling him into a hug. “Happy anniversary.”

Wade smiled into the kiss he planted on Logan’s cheek. “Happy anniversary to you too, peanut.”

“I know we didn’t do anything special last year, but I made reservations at that steakhouse you love if you’re up for that bub?” said Logan, a rarely shown muted shyness in his tone.

Wade’s eyes lit up, "Absolutely I am!”

Logan visibly relaxed, “Cool we have about an hour until we need to be there then.”

“I can think of plenty to fill that time up, end scene narrator.” Wade commented to no one in particular.

***

Stomachs full and slightly tipsy from the cocktails they had with their meals, Wade held Logan's arm as he was led towards the waterfront.

“I swear I say it every time but oh my marvel jesus that was the best steak I’ve ever had.” Wade said, admiring the view of the birds flying above the boats.

“You absolutely do but I gotta agree with you bub, way better than any in my old universe.” Logan led the pair towards a bench.

Sitting down, Wade leant his head on Logan’s shoulder.

“These past two years have flown by, huh peanut.” said Wade, unable to go more than two minutes without talking.

“Wouldn’t change anything about them though.”

“Me neither, happy anniversary, here's to a thousand more.” Wade squeezed the arm Logan had wrapped around him.

Logan leant down, his free hand lifting Wade’s chin before kissing him, “Happy anniversary bub.”

Chapter 2: Pet sitting

Summary:

Wade is on a TVA assigned mission and it's Logan's first time pet sitting in their new apartment.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

“For the last time bub, we will be absolutely fine. Go on, you’re going to be late.” said Logan in desperation.

Wade was due to go on a TVA assigned mission and was worried about leaving Mary Puppins home alone with Logan for the first time. They had only recently moved into their own apartment and this was the first time that Blind Al wouldn’t be there as well as Logan to pet sit the small dog.

“Are you totally sure though? What if -” Logan cut Wade off with a kiss and a less than polite shove out of the door.

“Go, mission, now. Love you.”

Wade sulked off, leaving behind a droopy eared Puppins and an exhausted Logan.

“Just you an me now, ey kid.” said Logan, Mary barked in response and nosed her lead against the wall.

“Maybe in a bit pup, let's watch some TV and have some lunch first.” Logan could have sworn he saw her roll her tiny dog eyes but decided against confronting the mutt, lest she cause more trouble that he was willing to put up with.

He’d had dogs before, when he was living in the mountains and was desperate for company that wouldn’t judge him. The dogs were always grateful for the food he gave them too which helped, there was no way he could eat a full deer on his own, no matter how hungry he was. This was his first time with a tiny little thing like Mary. Al usually had her on her knee the entire time Wade was gone and seemed to never be trouble so Logan wasn’t worried.

Wade however, in all of his antics had written, in glittery ink and unicorn stickers, a how-to guide for looking after her.

  • She eats at 9:07am and 8:34pm every day
  • Bedtime at 11
  • Sometimes she needs a foot massage to help her sleep if she’s feeling anxious
  • Take her for a walk two times a day
  • Sometimes she’ll try to swordfight you, it’s her pool genes
  • She’s friends with the dog on the left but I think it’s a toxic relationship. I’m not sure who the problem is
  • Keep an eye on the bathtub, I’ve seen her try to flood it
  • Make sure her bowl has water in every morning

Logan rolled his eyes, he loved Wade but he had had no issues with the pup when they lived with Al and he was sure they would be fine in their new place.

Mary snuggled into Mount Blanket on the sofa whilst Logan made a sandwich and put on the TV.

“You thinkin NCIS or Friends huh pup?” Logan asked the dog, not expecting a response but thought it polite to ask nonetheless.

“Bark bark.”

“Huh, Friends it is then.”

***

Logan woke up to Mary jumping on and off of his lap repeatedly, then running towards where her lead was up against the door. Netflix was showing ‘Are you still watching?’.

“Shit sorry pup, you want out? Let me get ready real quick then.”

Walking out the door, the brisk autumn breeze swept across Logan's face. They walked to the local dog park he and Wade frequented often with Mary in tow, sometimes in Wade’s arms. The pair walked around before finding a bench to relax at before heading home.

Buzz buzz

“Lemme look at this message before we head home pup. Wade is probably home now and wondering where we are.” Mary’s ears perked up at the sound of Wade’s name.

“Lo where are you? Did you not see the bath?? She almost flooded the place?!”

Mary refused to meet Logan’s eyes but he could have sworn he saw a small smirk on her face.

Chapter Text

Wade was gone. Not ‘gone’ gone, just out for the night. But it hurt like he was gone. Like when everyone else was gone. Two years had passed since he killed them all. Even if he wasn’t the one to directly butcher his friends, he more than made up for it by killing innocents in the aftermath. He was hated by everyone, they all knew him for all the wrong reasons. That date was seared in his bones.

The only way he could get himself through the night was a cold bottle of whisky, or whatever he could get his hands on really. He couldn’t afford to be fussy back then. But here and now, he couldn’t block it out, so many memories constantly hitting him and haunting his waking hours. The echo of their lives never left him. The alcohol only dulled it from deafening to a whisper.

Wade helped when he could, but there was only so much his partner could help him with when he didn’t dare tell him everything that went on inside his head. No one would want to help if he let them in.

He didn’t deserve the love and utter adoration he got from the younger man, he was broken in a thousand ways and knew Wade wouldn't stick around if he told him the truth. Why would he? Wade deserved better. Wade deserved so much more than he could ever give.

Logan finished off the bottle of whisky he opened not 30 minutes ago. A singular blade pierced only an inch through his knuckles.

Soft sobs radiated throughout the empty apartment as droplets fell to the floor.

***

Wade opened the door and let the fresh morning breeze sweep through their apartment. Opening the curtains to let the light shine its golden rays through. The mission took longer than intended but he brought donuts as a sorry to his peanut for being out for so long. Donuts made all apologies 100% more effective.

His first sign something was wrong was the two empty bottles of whisky on the kitchen table, and one on the floor.

His second sign something was wrong was the blood spatters that decorated the bottle on the floor.

“Logie?” Wade yelled, forgetting the donuts on the table and running to their bedroom.

Empty, but the bathroom door was ajar.

The water was a deep red.

“Fuck! Logan?” He rushed to the side of the bath. “Logie bear it's me can you hear me” Wade could see he was breathing but just unconscious. He stroked the older man’s face, stained with dried tears. Even with just his head peaking above the water, Wade could smell the alcohol.

***

Logan twitched, eyes fluttering, head fuzzy, still drunk. His arms, though healed almost instantly, still had the feeling of pain where his claw had gently torn the skin. He didn't remember getting into the bath but, well it wasn’t the first time he had ended up in this situation.

It was a first for Wade to have found him there though.

Ah shit Wade is home, and he's staring, and Logan was still way too drunk to want to deal with these feelings.

“Um, hey. I must have slipped.” said Logan, trying to be as convincing as possible.

“Don’t lie to me Logan.” Fuck, Wade used his name and not a nickname.

“I… um… well -” Logan started.

“You’re still drunk Lo. How much did you have?” Said Wade, a more gentle tone this time.

“I dunno, lost count, m’ sorry bub.”

“Why are you sorry peanut, what happened? I shouldn’t have left, should have come back earlier.”

“No, not sorry from you, only sorry from me.” Logan struggled to string together a sentence but Wade got the jist of it.

“Let me help you get cleaned up and we can talk about it Lo, I want to help with whatever this is.” Wade gestured to the bath and its not water colour.

Logan nodded his head, the tears started again.

***

Wade sat Logan on their bed, nice and clean and still wrapped up in a towel when the words began falling almost as fast as the tears.

“You deserve better bub, m’ a sorry excuse as a wolv’rine. Love you so much but I'm not good. Worst. I deserve mountain cave and hatred. I don’t ‘eserve you. You’re too good. You shouldn’t have to put up with me. I’m bad.” Logan rambled, alcohol still coursing through his veins.

“Oh Lo,” Wade pressed Logan’s head into his shoulder. “You aren’t bad, you got dealt bad cards, but we reshuffled the deck peanut. It’s going to be okay.”

“They won't leave my head.”

“Who won’t Lo?” questioned Wade.

“Ever’one I killed, all X-men, all friends, so many.” Logan's tears started to dry up, his eyes becoming glassy and unfocused. “You ‘eserve better than me, could get loads guys better than me.”

"No one has ever, and will ever come close to the love I have for you Lo Lo. We can work together to get the voices out of your head and stop you from hurting yourself.”

“You can’t promise that.”

“Watch me.”

Notes:

Might have gone a bit off course with this one but it just about fits the prompt lol.
please leave a kudo and a comment if you enjoyed and have any feedback.
day 4 will be a lot lighter I promise.

Chapter 4: Set in Another Time

Summary:

A TVA mission gone wrong, Wade and Logan end up in an unfamiliar time.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

“Well I think it’s safe to say that the TVA needs some system upgrades to their magic portal devices,” said Wade, taking in his surroundings. “When do you think we are Lo?”

“...” Logan wasn’t ignoring the younger man, just taking in the unfamiliar surroundings.

“Lo? … Are we?”

“Yeah I think so bub…”

“Shit.” Wade sat cross legged on the ground, staring at the TVA device in his hand.

“Yeah I second that, any chance of you being able to fix it before we get found?” asked Logan, staying standing and scouting the area for danger, his enhanced senses working overtime in this new environment.

“I have no clue, maybe they’ll realise what happened and send some hulking men to come and save us damsels,” Wade said, eyes focused on the task at hand.

Logan was practically spinning in circles keeping an eye out on their surroundings, desperate for nothing to have sniffed them out and come looking for an easy meal. Grassy plains of vegetation recognisable but unfamiliar surrounded them. They were at the top of a hill and at the base he could see huge trees covering vast areas of invisible danger and in the distance down the hill, he could see a lake or ocean, some kind of large water area with no end in sight. He wandered no more than 20 meters away from Wade to scope out more of the area, always one eye on the treeline.

A small roar was heard in the distance, followed by more bellows from the same area. Logan made his way back to where Wade was sitting.

“Any luck?”

“The lights are working and making it look like it should be working but no orange rectangles are showing up. I tried to figure out if it could reach anyone at the TVA but nothing seems to be working.” Wade said, disappointment throughout his voice.

“Fuck… we’re gonna need to find shelter in that case, it looks like we’re near a beach of either a sea or a lake, maybe there’ll be caves?” Logan said, pointing towards the water.

Wade’s eyes widened. “We might need to make a move quickly then Lo.”

Logan followed Wade’s line of sight to see a herd of Triceratops stampeding towards the pair.

“Oh my god, they’re so cute!! Do you think they’d mind if I rode on their back like a horse? Or or maybe I could take a baby one home and keep it as a pet! Wait no, I don’t think Mary would like that very much, not sure if she could handle something taking away her papa’s attention from her.” Wade monologued to himself as Logan grabbed his arm and pulled the man into a run away from the direct line the herd was heading.

***

The pair managed to find a small cave on the small cliffside at the bottom of the hill, it wasn’t much but it was enough shelter to keep them draft and rain free if needed. The TVA device was still malfunctioning but the screen has started showing a new banner.

‘Your device has been flagged for malfunction, please remain by your device, minutemen will be at your location for retrieval soon.’

“Shit at least they aren’t leaving us here for dead.” Wade said, laying back against the rocks in relief.

“Dumbass, we can’t die.” Logan rolled his eyes, a smirk was on his face.

“... well, you know what I mean.”

“Yeah, being eaten by a T-rex doesn’t sound fun.”

“But it would be a cool story to tell.”

Logan flicked Wade’s forehead before laying down next to him, the pair listening to the gentle ripples of the water.

Notes:

This was super fun to write, I hope you enjoyed my rambling, definitely a lot fluffier and lighter than day 3 lol.
Please leave a comment if you enjoyed it or have any feedback. It really makes my day.

Chapter 5: Early Morning Walks

Summary:

Logan can't sleep and neither can Wade, so they decide to take Puppins for a walk.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Logan awoke from his brief stint of sleep. The bedside clock read 4 am. Again. Sleep was the one thing he consistently struggled with. Whether it be the nightmares of his past that haunted his dreams or just the dull ache in his bones keeping him awake, he could never fully relax.

Rolling over he found that the bedroom's Mount Blanket was empty of occupation, this too wasn’t an usual thing. Wade was either way too energetic or in pain to sleep. He tended to leave the room when he woke so as not to disturb Logan’s sleep as much as possible. Logan thought to himself ‘fuck it, it’s basically morning anyways,’ and quietly got dressed.

“Cant sleep either?” Logan said to Wade, currently occupying the living room’s Mount Blanket with a half asleep Mary Puppins at his feet. Golden girls quietly playing on the TV.

“Yeah it’s the dang plot convenience again,” said Wade. Logan was used to his weird turn of phrases so took no notice, much to Wade’s disappointment. “What’s got you up this early peanut?”

“Nothing much today, just awake. No nightmares or pain which is always a bonus. How are you holdin up?” asked Logan, sliding into the seat beside Wade pulling him into a hug, enveloping the younger man in more blanket than thought possible.

“Same here, couldn’t get a wink of sleep though. Mary came to join me not so long ago, she nosed her lead but I told her it was waaaay too early for that.”

“We could take her now if you like, it's surprisingly warm for October at the moment.” suggested Logan.

Mary’s ears perked up at the conversation and jumped down off the sofa, big stretch included, and nosed her lead again.

“Well I think that’s a yes then, grab your boots pumpkin, we’re going on an adventure.”

Logan rolled his eyes but smiled.

***

The dog park was unsurprisingly empty this early in the morning. Save for a few foxes, and people finishing the night shift. The air had a slight chill to it but nothing a cosy jumper couldn’t fix.

The couple held hands as they walked, Wade holding the pup's lead as she sniffed the ground in front of them as they walked.

“We should do this more often, it’s so quiet, maybe we’ll even get to see a deer!” said Wade, excitement clear in his voice.

“You’d have to be quiet for us to come across a deer, bub.” laughed Logan.

“Rude, I can be quiet.” Wade said defiantly.

“You couldn't be quiet if I paid you.” Logan chuckled. They had had this conversation many times but it never got old. The older man thought it was endearing, it also meant he didn’t have to talk if he wasn’t up for it as Wade chatted enough for three people if he really got going.

Wade stuck his tongue out. “Well… maybe I don't want to be quiet right now”

Logan smiled and pointed towards a bench at the corner of the park. “Want to chill there a bit before heading back?”

“Yeah, I think pups legs are getting a bit tired. Think I might be getting a bit tired too, want to try getting some sleep when we get back? We’ve got until the evening before we meet up with Peter and Dopinder.”

Logan wouldn’t admit his eyes were starting to feel heavy too. “That sounds like a good plan.”

Notes:

A short one today but I still showed up and I'm proud of that.

Please leave a comment if you enjoyed it or have any feedback. It makes my day when I get the email notification.

Chapter 6: Wearing Each Other's Clothes (Alterative #22)

Summary:

Wasn't feeling the original prompt for day 6, but that's what alternatives are for.
Wade is having a high pain day, Logan leaves his jacket on the back of the couch, snuggles ensue.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Wade woke up from his nap on Mount Blanket in the living room. He must have dozed off after Logan left an hour or two ago. He’d gone for lunch with the Professor, the only one of the X Men Logan felt comfortable meeting so far. It was slow progress but Logan didn’t want to rush into meeting everyone and being overwhelmed.

Unfortunately for Wade, it was a high pain day and he could barely move without agony. He really could have done with his partner today but he knew how busy the Professor was and didn't want Logan to miss out, so faked being okay until he was out of their flat. Even with his mutation, Wade was still riddled with cancer and sometimes his healing factor couldn’t respond quick enough for the pain that radiated within him to subside. Today, even breathing too deeply hurt.

He slowly made his way into the kitchen, holding onto the furniture around him to keep himself upright. The kettle was heavy and felt like his wrist was going to break when he filled it with water.

These days were the worst, he was meant to be strong and amazing. Today he felt weak and fragile.

The hot water splashed on his hands as he shakily filled up his unicorn hot water bottle, a present from Dopinder a few years ago. Wade didn’t register the heat as anything different from the pain in his stomach muscles.

Mary Puppins was an angel as usual and helped carry the hot water bottle back to the couch whilst Wade stumbled back and fell into Mount Blanket with a grunt of pain. Logan’s jacket was lazily thrown over the back of the sofa, he must have forgotten to take it with him. Wade scooped the jacket up and put it on, embracing the smell of his partner so as not to feel so alone.

“Thanks pup.” he said as he took the bottle from her and cuddled up to it, eventually falling into another slumber. ‘Can’t feel pain if you’re asleep.’ he thought to himself.

***

Logan walked through the door of their apartment in the late afternoon, the sun still warm in the air making him glad he had forgotten his jacket on the back of the couch.

His lunch talks with the professor were helpful in acclimatizing himself in this world. He needed catching up on current and past events and X men history, deciphering what was true to his original universe and what was new. The professor brought up, again, the chance of him meeting with select members of the X men, in the hopes that Logan would join them. Once again he declined.

Even though it had been a couple years, he had learned a lot about taking care of his mental health and he knew that this fresh start he was granted could be shattered if he wasn’t ready enough to meet them. His friends who he missed so much, who no doubt hated who he had become, were alive here. But he wasn't sure if he was ready to confront them in this universe, especially when knowing how much this universe's Logan was so valued by them. Could he live up to that standard? Probably not, at least not yet. ‘But one day I will be.’ He thought to himself.

Seeing Wade on the couch brought him back to reality, his sleeping partner in his mountain of blankets was a usual sight. But wearing his jacket? That was new.

Making his way over he could see the younger man with a grimace of pain on his sleeping face. Logan also noticed the hot water bottle, now cold, peaking out from underneath the jacket.

Gently, Logan picked up Wade, bridal style, and carried him into their bedroom. Wade, still asleep and still wearing Logan’s jacket, cuddled into the warmth of his partner and grunted in pain as he was placed down onto the cold bed and tucked in.

“Sleep well bub, I’ll wake you up when dinner is ready.” Logan kissed the sleeping man’s forehead before making sure he was properly tucked in and left the room to begin cooking.

***

Logan was about to wake Wade before dishing up but Wade beat him by stumbling out of their bedroom wearing some shorts and one of Logan’s old t-shirts.

“Hey bub, couldn’t find any of your own clothes?” Logan teased as he helped Wade to the kitchen table, making sure he was safely seated before carrying on with the food.

“Wanted your clothes, comfier,” Wade crossed his arms on top of the table and laid his head down. “Did you have a good lunch with the professor?” came the small mumble.

“It was good, learnt a bit more of the earlier X men days, pretty similar to what my professor told me before I joined. He is still adamant about me starting to integrate myself within this group.”

“You gotta do it in your own time pumpkin, he knows that.” Wade said, peeking up from his arm pillow. “What did you tell him?”

“Pretty much what you said, I don’t think I’m ready yet. I get it’s been over two years but I don’t want to go back to the man I was when I first came here. He moved to a different subject after that.” Logan said whilst placing the bowls down on the table. “This should help your pain bub.”

Wade smiled, grateful for the man sitting across from him. A homemade soup with crusty bread was exactly what he was craving. “Thank you, love you.”

“Love you too bub… you should wear my clothes more often, ‘s cute.”

Notes:

enjoyed this alterative prompt a lot, hope you did too!
please kudo and comment if you enjoyed or have any feedback, its really valued and means a lot.

Chapter 7: Moving Day

Summary:

Wade and Logan leave Althea's flat for a flat of their own.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Wade carried yet another box up the stairs, Mary at his heels leading the way every time he went up and down.

“You know you don’t have to leave boys.” Wade recalled Blind Al saying as they were packing up the moving truck. They weren’t moving far, just a few streets over, but they needed their space as a growing relationship.

“It’s been nice living with you Althea but it’s time Wade and I got our own place, you’ve been great the past year and you’re more than welcome to come round anytime.” said Logan, in Wade’s recollection.

He had hugged her before they left and snuck a bag of disco dust into her hand, she smiled a knowing smile.

“Don’t be strangers boys.”

***

“Think she’ll be okay?” asked Logan.

“More than, she’s a tough cookie and was managing kinda fine before I started crashing at her place,” laughed Wade. “We’ll keep an eye on her and it’s not like we aren’t seeing her next week for dinner.”

“I guess you’re right bub, just new situations and stuff.” Logan looked at the ground, not wanting to meet his partner's eye whilst he felt so vulnerable.

“We’ll be fine, more than fine, we can be as loud as we want whenever we like,” Wade winked and brought Logan close for a hug. “And yes I mean the TV, this isn’t one of your depraved fantasy fics, as much as you know I love them.”

Logan smiled and rolled his eyes, Wade never failed to amuse him with his weird quips. “Sure bub, sure.”

“Totally sure,” Wade patted the dog as his feet on the head and picked up another box. “Come on pumpkin, let's get the last couple boxes in and then we can spiderman kiss off the balcony.”

Stacking a couple boxes and picking them up, Logan smiled, looking forward to the new chapter in his life.

Notes:

Chapter 8: Cursed

Summary:

Wade and Logan go to visit a young woman who is reported to have the ability to temporarily swap conscious's.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

“So why have we been roped into this ‘mission’ ey Lo? Thought the X men could handle their own.” said Wade, feet up on the dash of their Honda Odyssey.

“Just cos she’s a mutant doesn’t make her the X men’s responsibility, just means that the professor wants to keep any trouble at a low and it sounds better coming from someone not part of them when asked to tone it down.” Logan said as he turned the wheel down a road in a less than ideal area.

“Eh I guess, so what’s she meant to have done anyways?” asked Wade.

“Did you really not listen?” Logan sighed, running his hand through his hair. “She’s a mutant whose ability is to swap the consciences of people, so far the professor has noted her using it on just the people of her street, it’s a shit area so people don’t take any notice, just thinking the people are on drugs.”

“Ah yeah that rings a bell, so she’s just making her own on set drama series then?” Wade laughed.

“I guess you could call it that,” Logan chuckled, pulling up outside the house on the run down road. “But imagine if she did it to someone with influence, or swapped a bad guy's and a politician's consciousness, it could escalate.”

“Shit yeah, imagine a villain running a country, marvel jesus that would be bad.” said Wade, stepping out the car.

The pair knocked on the door and a young woman answered, chain still on the door.

“Can I help you?” she questioned cautiously.

“Yeah hi we wanna talk to you about our lord and saviour marvel jesus.” Wade said.

Logan slapped him. “No we aren’t, we know what you can do and we’d like a chat.”

“I don’t know what you mean -” she went to shut the door but Logan stopped the door by extending his claws through the small opening.

“We aren’t here to harm you, but others might if they find out, please let us in.”

The woman raised her eyebrows at the sight of the claws, “You’re meant to be dead though, everyone said.”

“Long story, so can we come in?” Wade interjected.

***

“It was only a little fun, I want a quiet life but it’s too amusing not to sometimes. It’s not like I can permanently force the consciousness to swap, it only lasts a couple hours.” the woman said.

“Totally understand wanting on street drama.” Wade laughed.

“But we’ve just been asked to talk to you about keeping it a bit more quiet, it only takes one time of swapping the wrong conscience before someone with bad intentions figures it out.” Logan said, more serious than the man next to him.

“Yeah I hadn’t really thought that far ahead, I'll definitely be more careful. Can’t stand the thought of some bad guy taking advantage of what I can do.” the woman reassured them.

“If you’re sure about that then we’ll tell the professor that it’s all resolved, no harm done.” said Logan.

“Thank you, both. I’ll be more careful.”

***

Back in the car Wade put his feet up and the dash board again. “That went well huh pumpkin?”

“I think so yeah, hopefully that's the last we ever hear of her unless she takes the professor up on his offer to go to the mansion.” Logan was a tad suspicious of how easy the conversation went, but kept it to himself.

“Fancy tacos for dinner?” Wade suggested, shutting down Logan's thoughts of doubt.

“Sure thing bub, I’ll ring Xavier when we get home, tell him all’s well.”

***

The pair went to bed after tacos, content in their successful mission today. Only for Wade to wake up in the early hours of the morning. He couldn’t sleep at the best of times so this wasn’t unusual for him.

He rolled over to get up, golden girls reruns called his name.

Standing up, he immediately found himself crushed with the immense pressure of gravity and fell to the floor with a loud yelp. This woke Logan up with a start, reaching for the light to see what the situation was, ready for anything.

The pair started at themselves, Logan ran a hand over his now bald scalp, eyes wide and realisation dawning on both himself and Wade.

“Fuck.” both men said in unison.
