Chapter 1: Skull

Summary:

Enid finds something special to give to Wednesday.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Wednesday was working at her typewriter when Enid came into the room, shouting, "Hey, Wednesday! Check out what I found!"

Wednesday turned around and saw Enid holding a shopping bag from her outing. Wednesday got up and took the bag and pulled out a turquoise crystal skull.

"I saw it at Uriah's Heap today and thought of you," Enid explained, "Do you like it?"

Wednesday examined the skull, delicately turning it around in her hands, when the skull caught the sunlight through the window and started glowing.

"Fascinating." Wednesday remarked.

"Whoa," Enid said, "I didn't know it could glow like that."

The skull glowed brighter as it absorbed the sunlight, and then shot out a laser towards the door, burning a large hole through it.

Enid and Wednesday stared at the broken door in shock, and then a startled Yoko, having barely dodged the laser, slowly looked through the hole and shouted, "What the hell was that?!"

Chapter 2: Mask

Summary:

Enid and Wednesday have a brief discussion about Shy Guys.

Chapter Text

Wednesday was trying to work on her novel, but it was difficult with the periodic growling coming from Enid's side of the room.

The colorful girl in question had her Nintendo Switch out, playing Mario Kart. She seemed to be having some difficulty in the race, struggling to stay in 1st.

"Enid," Wednesday said as she stopped typing, "What are you doing?"

"Oh, just playing Mario Kart," Enid replied in a clipped tone. "If you're done typing, you can come play with me."

Wednesday almost rolled her eyes. This wasn't the first time Enid had asked her to play Mario Kart with her, and it most likely wouldn't be the last.

Wednesday turned around to face Enid as she said, "If I play with you this one time, will you stop disrupting my progress?"

Enid paused her game and looked at Wednesday with surprise. She had expected the usual "no", but this was different.

"I mean, I make no promises," Enid said, "But I can try!"

"Very well."

Enid exited her game and entered 2 player mode as Wednesday crossed over and sat on her bed with her.

"I don't exactly have a spare controller, so we'll have to play with these," Enid explained as she detached the Joy-Cons from the Switch, and after configuring the controls, handed one to Wednesday. "You hold it sideways like this," Enid continued as she showed Wednesday how to hold the controller. Then it was on to the character selection.

"Some of the characters, like Yoshi and Shy Guy have color variants, so you can pick a black one if you want." Enid said, and Wednesday was thankful for the advice as she picked out a black Shy Guy.

"Hmm... I think I'll be a Shy Guy too," Enid said as she picked a pink Shy Guy.

"An interesting choice, coming from you." Wednesday remarked.

Enid then asked, "Have you ever wondered what Shy Guys look like without their masks on?"

"Not particularly," Wednesday replied.

"I mean, they wear those masks all the time in every game they appear in. Nobody knows what their real face looks like," Enid continued. "Pretty mysterious, huh?"

Wednesday hummed in acknowledgement.

"Well, almost nobody. I remember there was this one cutscene in one of the Mario Tennis games where Shy Guy accidentally drops his mask in front of Luigi, so only Luigi knows."

Wednesday nodded as the game moved to the track selection. Enid picked Shy Guy Falls.

"As long as we're on the topic of Shy Guys and their masks," Enid said with a sheepish smile.

The topic was quickly dropped as the race started, as both girls got too invested in the game to focus on anything else. Wednesday was surprisingly good at the game despite her inexperience.

Chapter 3: Three Musketeers

Summary:

Wednesday, Enid, and Agnes spend the day in Jericho, and stop a robbery.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

It was a bright, sunny day, and Enid had convinced Wednesday to take a walk through Jericho. Wednesday had initially refused, opting to work on her novel a little more, but then Enid used her Puppy Dog Eyes, at which point she relented.

Just as the pair was about to leave Nevermore, Agnes suddenly appeared out of nowhere, asking, "Room for one more?"

Enid thought about it for a moment before saying, "Okay, sure." Enid and Agnes had been on more civil terms ever since the night at the gala.

And so, the Three Musketeers (Agnes still insisted on calling them that) made their way to Jericho.

As they got into town, Agnes asked, "So, what did you guys want to do first?"

"Well, Wednesday and I were going to..." Enid began, but trailed off as she caught some movement inside Hawte Kewture. Someone was in the store with a gun in their hand.

"Oh my God, there's a robbery!" Enid exclaimed. Wednesday and Agnes followed Enid's gaze and saw the robber.

The girls wasted no time. Wednesday ran to the shop with Enid and Agnes trailing behind her.

Inside the store, the robber was demanding money. "Fill this bag with all the cash you got," he said.

The nervous woman at the cash register shakily nodded her head and opened the register.

"The only thing you're getting out of this shop is a nosebleed," Wednesday boldly stated as she and Enid entered the store.

Confused, the robber turned around to look at them, saying, "Huh? Who are you girls?"

Enid unsheathed her claws as she answered, "Your worst nightmare."

The robber smirked as he said, "What, you think that's gonna scare me? You're just two girls."

Just then, Agnes reappeared behind him, saying, "Make that three girls!" before she punched him in the back of the head, knocking him down and making him drop his gun.

The robber tried to get back up, saying "Why you little," before Enid pinned him to the floor with her werewolf strength. His face hit the floor, giving himself a nosebleed. Wednesday took out a rope and tied the robber's hands behind his back.

"Are you alright?" Agnes asked the cashier, who let out a breath in relief.

"Yes, I'm alright, thank you," the cashier replied.

A few minutes later, Sheriff Santiago arrived to take the robber into custody.

"Thanks for your help today, Addams," she said to Wednesday.

"I didn't act alone," Wednesday replied as she looked over at Enid and Agnes, who smiled.

Sheriff Santiago nodded as she said, "Well, either way, do let me know if there's anything else shady going on around here."

Wednesday nodded, and then Santiago drove away with the robber. Enid and Agnes walked up to Wednesday, and Enid said, "Well that sure was unexpected, but we stopped the robbery!"

"You two did well in there," Wednesday told them with a hint of pride in her voice, making Enid and Agnes smile more.

"We learned from the best," Agnes said. Wednesday nodded in acknowledgement.

"I'm getting kinda hungry. You guys wanna get lunch?" Enid asked. Wednesday and Agnes nodded yes, and Enid said, "Okay, let's go!"

And off the girls went, to spend the rest of the day together.

Notes:

And so, once again, the day is saved, thanks to... The Three Musketeers!

Chapter 4: Rain

Summary:

Wednesday and Enid hang out in their dorm on a rainy Saturday.

Chapter Text

It was a rainy Saturday at Nevermore. The dreary weather put a small damper on Enid's mood as she and Wednesday looked out the window of their shared dorm room.

"Aww man, the girls and I were going to hang out outside today," Enid said. "Stupid rain."

"This is my kind of weather," Wednesday said. "I've always enjoyed a good downpour."

Enid thought about it for a moment before saying, "Well, yeah, I guess rain can be good, too. It waters the plants outside, and keeps the rivers flowing."

The girls walked away from the window as Enid asked, "So, we've got all day, and I don't think this rain's going to let up any time soon, what did you wanna do?"

"Well, this weather gives me the perfect opportunity to work on my novel." Wednesday answered as she went to her desk and sat down.

"Okay, I guess I'll leave you to it then." Enid said as she plopped on her bed and took out her phone.

The girls spent the morning like this, Enid updating her blog and checking her socials, and getting into some gossip with Thing, while Wednesday typed away at her typewriter.

At noon, the weather did not change. In fact, it seemed to be raining even harder than it was before.

Enid stood up and said, "I'm hungry. I'm gonna head down to the cafeteria to get lunch. You need me to bring anything up to you?"

"If you must," Wednesday answered from her desk.

About ten minutes later, Enid returned to the room with some food, and a black coffee for Wednesday, as well as a colorful furraccino for herself.

"Lunch is ready," Enid said as she put Wednesday's lunch on her desk. Wednesday hummed in acknowledgement before Enid returned to her side of the room.

A half an hour later, as Enid was playing Mario Kart on her Nintendo Switch, Wednesday finally decided to take a break from her novel and stood up from her desk.

"Wow, for a while I thought you were gonna be at that typewriter all day," Enid said as she paused her game.

"It seems my creative juices have run dry." Wednesday replied.

"Well, good timing, because Yoko and the others decided to hang out in here this afternoon, but I told them to wait until you were done writing."

"How considerate of you."

Just then, there was a knock at the door. Enid opened it and there was Yoko and Divina.

"Hey, Wolfie!" Yoko greeted. "Did your little pocket goth finish writing yet?"

"She actually just stopped now," Enid answered. "You came just in time."

"Well, I brought some snacks, so let's get started!"

"Is that Mario Kart?" Divina asked as she walked towards Enid's bed.

"Yep. I figured we could play a few rounds." Enid said.

"Well, good thing I brought my Switch controller then." Divina said as she held up her own Switch controller.

"Why don't you come join us, Wednesday? We can do a team race together!" Enid offered.

Wednesday had no intention of playing, but she would endure it for Enid's sake.

"Wait, we only have three controllers." Enid realized. Just then, Agnes appeared in the room, saying, "Room for one more?"

"How long have you been here?" Enid asked.

"Since..." Agnes took out a yellow Switch controller from her pocket, "this."

Enid recognized the controller and said, "Wait, isn't that Eugene's?"

Meanwhile, in Caliban Hall...

Eugene looked around his belongings as he called out, "Hey, Pugsley, have you seen my Switch controller anywhere? I can't find it."

"I didn't take your controller," Pugsley answered.

"Well, help me look for it, I thought I left it here."

"I'm just borrowing it," Agnes said. "I'll return it later."

"Alright," Enid said.

The girls started out with a team race: Wednesday and Enid vs. Yoko and Divina in Coconut Mall. In-game chaos ensued as shells were thrown, banana peels were scattered around the track, and Wednesday managed to evade the blue Spiny Shell with a well-timed mushroom boost. In the end, Team Wenclair won the race, while a fuming Yoko ended up in third because she was stopped by one of the cars in the parking lot.

The next race was a free-for-all in Toad's Turnpike. Wednesday had switched out to let Agnes have a turn. In the second lap, Agnes got a Boo item, and stole a red shell from Yoko, who was about to use it on Enid. Then Divina threw a blue shell, which hit both Enid and Yoko at the same time because they were close together. In the final lap, Agnes got a Fire Flower, and spammed fireballs, managing to hit the other three racers, and allowing her to win the race.

"Wow, Agnes, just set us all on fire." Yoko grumbled. Agnes and Enid giggled, and then Thing tapped on Enid's shoulder.

"I think Thing wants a turn now." Enid said.

"Here, you can take my spot," Yoko said as she handed over her controller. "Let's see if you can beat this girl over here."

"Sore loser much?" Agnes said.

The third race took place on Mount Wario. Enid was holding a steady lead until Thing got her with a red shell at the beginning of the second section. (She couldn't block it because she kept getting coins.) Thing managed to stay in 1st for a while, even blocking out a blue shell with a Super Horn, until Agnes got triple red shells. Thing was able to block the first two with a banana peel and a green shell, but he was unable to block the third one, allowing Agnes to get past him as they entered the final section of the race. Meanwhile, Divina managed to get a golden mushroom and boosted her way into 4th place, just behind Enid.

It was a close race as the four players went down the final slope, but one of the CPU racers had thrown another blue shell. Agnes was prepared to block it with a Super Horn, but then lightning struck from another CPU racer, shrinking everyone else and making them lose their items. Agnes tried slowing down a little, but it was too late. The blue shell was already locked onto its target as it hit Agnes. The explosion had also affected Enid, but Thing managed to drive around it, winning the race.

"Alright, Thing!" Yoko shouted as Thing gestured excitedly. Even Wednesday nodded in approval.

"If it wasn't for that lightning, I might've won that." Agnes said.

"Welcome to Mario Kart." Enid said.

The rain might've been pouring outside, but the real storm was brewing inside the dorm room as the girls and Thing continued to play Mario Kart for the rest of the afternoon.

Chapter 5: Truth or Dare

Summary:

Hours after playing Mario Kart with their friends, Wednesday and Enid play Truth or Dare in their dorm room.

Chapter Text

It was after 7:30 in the evening, and the rain still didn't show any sign of stopping. Yoko, Divina, and Agnes had left the room a while ago, leaving Wednesday, Enid, and Thing to their own devices.

"I'm boooooored." Enid said, sprawled out on her bed.

"You've made that abundantly clear." Wednesday replied, trying to read a book on her bed.

"Well, are you just going to keep reading that book all night, or can we do something together?"

Wednesday looked up from her book and asked, "What do you propose?"

"We could play a small game," Enid suggested. "Like Truth or Dare."

"Alright then," Wednesday said as she put a bookmark in her book and set it down on her desk. "Truth or Dare?"

Enid thought about it for a moment before saying, "Truth."

"If you could have anything in the world right now, what would it be?"

"Well, just talking to you right now is enough for me at the moment," Enid answered. Wednesday nodded her head before Enid continued, "Although I could really go for another furraccino right now, I'm kinda thirsty. Too bad the mini café in the courtyard is closed for the night."

Wednesday hummed in acknowledgement before Enid said, "Now it's your turn. Truth or Dare?"

Wednesday thought about it for a couple of seconds before saying "Dare."

Enid gave Wednesday her Puppy Dog Eyes as she asked "Can we cuddle together tonight? Please?"

And that's how Wednesday found herself cuddling with Enid in her bed. Outside, the rain had eased up into a steady drizzle as the two girls fell asleep cuddled together.

Chapter 6: Body Swap

Summary:

Two girls switch bodies in Nevermore...

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

It seemed like the beginning of another typical day at Nevermore...

Except something had gone terribly wrong. Something that two girls were about to figure out as they woke up.

"What the fuck?!"

Yoko sat up and realized she was looking at her own body next to her. Which means...

She looked down at herself and realized she was in Divina's body.

Yoko's outburst startled Divina awake as she asked, "Yoko? What's..." and then stopped when she realized she was looking at herself.

"What the... What the hell is going on?!"

"I don't know!" Yoko answered. "I just woke up and... you're me!"

"And you're me!" Divina said as she examined herself in Yoko's body. "Did... Did we just... swap bodies?"

"Looks like it," Yoko said. "I feel kinda warm."

"And I feel all cold and dead inside."

"Well, you know, vampires run cold, we're undead creatures."

Divina got out of bed and started pacing around the room.

"Oh God, what are the others gonna say? How are we gonna tell them?" she asked nervously.

"We don't," Yoko said. "We just, pretend to act like each other."

"Yeah. Yeah, okay, we can do this... I mean, how hard is it to act like Yoko Tanaka?"

"Shouldn't be too hard, you remember all my nicknames for Wednesday, right?"

Divina thought for a moment before answering, "I remember Stabbage Patch, Woe White, Horror the Explorer, Shorticia..."

"Don't use Shorticia, she hated that one."

"Okay, no Shorticia, got it."

Yoko and Divina tried their best to get ready for the day. Yoko put on her sunglasses and Divina put on her amulet necklace before they realized they were in each other's bodies and laughed as they passed their accessories to each other.

"Okay," Divina said, "We're each other for the day, I guess."

"Let's try and stick together as much as we can, and hopefully nobody gets too suspicious." Yoko said.

"You know Princess Monotone and Wolfie are gonna find out sooner or later."

"I know, but hopefully no one else does."

The girls took a deep breath before stepping out of Yoko's room. They were instantly greeted by Enid and Wednesday.

"Hey, ladies!" Enid called out.

"Hey there, pup!" Yoko said out of habit, forgetting she was in Divina's body. Divina just smiled and waved.

As expected, Enid was a little confused. "Are you guys okay?" she asked.

"Oh yeah, we're okay!" Yoko said.

"We were just heading down to get breakfast, see you guys there!" Divina said before dragging Yoko away.

Wednesday and Enid just stood there in the hallway.

"Something's off." Wednesday said.

"Yeah, something doesn't smell right." Enid added.

"And I thought today would be uneventful. Let's see what the leech is hiding in her coffin."

And so, Wednesday and Enid went to investigate. Yoko and Divina were in for a tough day.

Notes:

Y'all were expecting Wenclair body swap, but I gave you Yokovina body swap!

Chapter 7: 7 Minutes in Heaven

Summary:

Wednesday and Enid play Spin the Bottle with Yoko and the others at a party.

Chapter Text

It had started out as a party game of Spin the Bottle. Enid spun first and luckily the bottle landed on Wednesday.

"Alright," Yoko said, with a wide grin on her face, "Into the closet with you two."

And that's how Wednesday and Enid found themselves in the closet. They had seven minutes to themselves.

Enid, knowing how touch-averse Wednesday was, said, "We don't have to do anything you don't want to."

Wednesday nodded, knowing that Enid was respecting her boundaries.

Wednesday never admitted it to anyone else, but she actually didn't mind the colorful wolf's touch, having grown used to it over the time they roomed together.

"Well," Wednesday said after a moment, "I wouldn't mind a small hug."

Enid's face lit up at that as she said, "Really? Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"I thought you hated hugs." Enid pointed out.

"Well yes," Wednesday replied, "But I find I don't hate them as much when they're from you."

Enid smiled a warm smile at that. "Do you really mean it?" she asked.

Wednesday nodded yes and said, "Get over here before I change my mind."

Enid wasted no time and slowly wrapped her arms around Wednesday, holding her tight. Slowly, Wednesday raised her arms and wrapped them around Enid, hugging her back.

"Is this okay?" Enid asked after a few seconds.

"I'm alright." Wednesday answered.

"Usually when the couple goes in the closet, they start kissing each other and making out."

Wednesday pulled back and asked, "Are you going to kiss me?"

Enid's eyes widened in surprise. "Uhh... Do... Do you want me to?"

"I wouldn't be against it."

"Are you sure? We don't have to, I mean, I was fine just hugging..."

"I know," Wednesday responded, "But I want to."

Enid thought she must be dreaming. Wednesday asking for a hug and a kiss? She never willingly asks for those.

"Okay," Enid said after a few seconds, "Only if you want me to."

Truth be told, Wednesday was a little nervous. She hadn't kissed anyone since Tyler, remembering how that went down. Enid and Wednesday never kissed each other at all before, Enid wanted to take things slow in their relationship after all.

But now Wednesday felt ready to take this next step, and luck seemed to be in her favor when Enid's spin landed on her.

Enid slowly leaned in, giving Wednesday a chance to back out, but she didn't. In fact, Wednesday leaned forward a little herself. Slowly but surely, they closed the distance between themselves and touched their lips together.

It was much better than they anticipated. Enid felt a spark that she hadn't felt before, not even with Ajax or Bruno. Wednesday noted that Enid's lips were much sweeter than Tyler's, and she didn't get any foreboding visions, so that was a bonus.

Eventually, after a minute, they pulled apart, still holding each other.

"That wasn't as bad as I anticipated." Wednesday remarked. Enid chuckled in response before they kissed again.

Well, one kiss turned into TWO, and then two turned into FOUR, and eventually became a small make out session between the two.

By the time the seven minutes was up, and they emerged from the closet, they both had their lipsticks smudged and Enid's hair was in slight disarray.

"Well," Yoko said with a knowing smile on her face, "looks like you two had fun."

Wednesday's face remained impassive, but the slight blush on her face betrayed her. Enid just giggled in response.

Chapter 8: Alpha/Omega

Chapter Text

Enid had just learned the worst possible news. For her, at least.

Capri told her that since she was an Alpha werewolf, there was a chance that if she wolfed out during a full moon, she could stay that way forever. She would also be hunted down and attacked by other werewolves due to them fearing her.

All Enid ever wanted was to finally wolf out and be accepted among her pack.

"Well, I got ONE of those things," Enid thought to herself. "Be careful what you wish for, I guess."

Enid knew she had to tell Wednesday about it. Wednesday had found out about her Alpha status during their body-swap, but she didn't know the full picture.

Enid broke the news to Wednesday in the Lupin Cages the night of the gala.

"The full moon is in two days," Wednesday pointed out. "How are you supposed to prevent that?"

"By staying calm," Enid answered. "Trying to distract myself with things that make me happy, like picking a dress for the gala."

"For a gala you aren't going to attend?"

"Bruno asked me. As a friend."

Wednesday didn't know why Enid still wanted to be friends with Bruno after he was cheating on her with another girl.

"Capri granted me an exception for my dance routine, as long as I lock up afterwards. Capri said I didn't have to face this alpha business on my own, that my strength is in my pack, but the truth is... You are my pack, Wednesday." Enid took a breath before continuing, "If I wolfed out, and I couldn't... You know, change back... Would you come and find me?"

"I have no problem hunting you down." Wednesday answered.

Two nights later, Enid had willingly wolfed out to save Wednesday from being buried alive under the Skull Tree, sacrificing her humanity and risking becoming a wolf forever. Wednesday didn't waste any time after her family defeated Issac, and set out the next day to find Enid with the help of Thing and her uncle Fester.

"If Enid is an Alpha, consider me the omega."

Chapter 9: In the Woods

Summary:

Wednesday takes her werewolf girlfriend out for a walk.

Chapter Text

It was a clear, starry night. Enid had insisted on taking a walk outside, resting her big, fluffy head on Wednesday's lap and whining all throughout her writing hour.

"Soon, Enid," Wednesday said as she softly petted the wolf's colorful forehead. "I still have ten more minutes of writing time."

Enid whined again and stared up at Wednesday with the biggest, saddest puppy eyes she could muster. Wednesday stopped typing and looked down. It was a pitiful sight, to be truthful.

After a moment, Wednesday sighed and said, "Alright, let's go."

Enid got up and started wagging her tail, panting happily.

"But you owe me a few minutes tomorrow." Wednesday added as she stood up from her desk.

Moments later, Wednesday and Enid were walking through the woods outside. It wasn't too cold outside, so Wednesday only needed a light jacket. Enid, meanwhile, had all her fur to keep her warm.

Eventually, they came across a clearing. Enid turned to Wednesday and got into a playful stance, letting out a woof.

"Of course I brought it," Wednesday said as she took out a frisbee disc. With a swing of her arm, she threw the frisbee over Enid's head, and the wolf took off running, jumping up to catch it in her mouth. Enid proudly trotted back to Wednesday to return the frisbee so she could throw it again.

"Impressive catch," Wednesday praised the wolf, who wagged her tail slightly faster in response.

Wednesday threw the frisbee again, a little farther this time, and once again Enid caught it right out of the air. Their game went on like this for a few more rounds before Enid flopped onto her back in front of Wednesday, tail wagging and panting excitedly with the frisbee clutched between her teeth.

It didn't take a detective to figure out what the colorful wolf was asking for, and Wednesday walked up to give Enid a belly rub.

"The things I do for you..." Wednesday muttered as she ran her hands through Enid's soft fur.

Enid let out a low whine as if saying, "Admit it, you love this."

"You're lucky I tolerate this." Wednesday said. Enid simply smiled. That was pretty much Wednesday's way of saying she liked it.

Eventually, after about ten minutes, they resumed their game, playing until Enid was tired enough to head back inside. Once they did, and Wednesday changed into her sleepwear, Enid whined again from her bed.

Wednesday turned to face the wolf, already having a good idea of what she wanted now as she said, "Let me guess. Cuddle time?"

Enid nodded in response and shifted her body to make room for Wednesday. Wednesday got into Enid's bed, and the wolf curled up protectively around her, letting out a content sigh as she got comfortable.

"Sweet nightmares, Enid." Wednesday said before she fell asleep in the warmth of the wolf.

Chapter 10: Nightmare

Summary:

Enid has a nightmare. Wednesday is there to comfort her.

Chapter Text

Wednesday awoke in the middle of the night hearing growling and whimpering from across the room. Quietly, she looked over and saw Enid kicking her legs in her sleep. Her face had a fearful expression.

Normally, watching someone suffer a nightmare would spark joy in Wednesday, but not when it came to Enid. Wednesday got up and crossed over to Enid's side of the room.

"Enid," Wednesday called, "Enid, wake up."

Wednesday gently touched Enid's shoulder to try and wake her up from her nightmare. In response, the wolf snarled and grabbed Wednesday's wrist, glaring at her with her bright, yellow eyes.

But then Enid's eyes widened in shock as they faded back to their usual blue, and she let go.

"Wednesday! I'm so sorry!" Enid said. "Are you okay?"

"I'm alright," Wednesday answered. "You were having a nightmare, and not the pleasant kind."

"Yeah, no kidding. Thanks for getting me out of there. Are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine, Enid," Wednesday said, not at all worried about her wrist. "Do you need anything?"

"Could you stay here tonight?" Enid asked. Wednesday nodded and got into bed with Enid, who cuddled up close to her and took in her scent. Wednesday's scent was always comforting to Enid.

"Feeling better?" Wednesday asked.

Enid let out a contented sigh and answered, "Much better. Thank you."

The two girls slept through the rest of the night peacefully without any more nightmares.
