Work Text:
Don't be scared I've done this before.
How can you be so sure, how can you be certain we won't die!?!. Uttered frantically by the boy.
With an exhausted breath an old man continued,
Well that's something I can't guarantee. I can guarantee that we will lose our vampiric powers although surviving it merely depends on how strong your will is. Xaen.
And yet you believe we will be spared from the isolating pain that is being immortal. I've tried to live a human life but it's so painful. You of all people should know this grandpa.
Watching people you care about mortals live and die all the same not having the freedom we do to have lived Millennias. I'd argue being a vampire is a form of torture suffering for our bodies and minds. It's no wonder fiction depicts us as cruel heartless monsters.
It's that we aren't, we simply just had lived too long to care. Everything else has simply fade away just like dying stars. That's the irony no?, people are like the stars they shine so bright for so long but eventually they'll die out. And no one would be bothered enough to check on them or dare.
Afterall being a star is just like being one stuck with many not everyone will be recognized and perhaps if you are lucky you get to be the biggest star.
The sun, but even then the sun's always so lonely. Being on the spotlight similar to a ballerina on stage everyone watching you one minor slip up and that's it. But unlike a ballerina the sun forced to continue through its humiliation. Don't you think that's a bit cruel.
Is argue we vampires despite being deadly allergic to the sun share the most with it. We chase after the fleeting beauty the moon could give us alas we can only run so far. We crave the family most of the stars have yet we get nothing in return. Perhaps bring the biggest brightest star has its disadvantages. Such as being the loneliest.
What's the point of hoping we will it won't live if we're going to be human join in the crowd of mortals. Yes we should be happy rejoice even in being able to live a life that has a un
certain expectancy.
