Mat and Brian were laying next to each other on Brian’s small bed, Brian’s arm wrapped behind Mat as he looked at his phone. Brian began playing with Mat’s hair, twisting it around his finger before running his fingers through it; he only did it for a few seconds before stopping, but as he stopped heard Mat complain. “Hey, I liked that…” Brian chuckled as he put his hand back to Mat’s hair and continued playing with it. Mat put his phone down and hummed as he leaned into Brian, if they weren’t cuddling before they were now as Mat started getting comfortable. Brian laughed a little, and looked at Mat, he looked so peaceful, like he was ready to fall asleep.
“Don’t fall asleep on me Matty…” Brian warned Mat.
“Uhg!” Mat sighed. “Why not?” Mat looked at Brian, the room was getting dark, neither of them realized that it was getting dark since they let the sun set without ever bothering to turn the lights on.
Brian shrugged. “I dunno…”
“Scared of being gay?”
“I’m not gay!”
“Obviously. Neither am I!”
Brian laughed. “Yeah exactly...” Mat put his head back against Brian’s chest.
“It just feels nice…”
“Yeah… it does…” Brian responded, running his hand over Mat’s arm feeling his smooth skin, listening to Mat’s quiet breaths, paying attention to the smell of his mint shampoo, and the smell of smoke, and weed from earlier that still lingered on their clothes that wouldn’t normally smell nice on most people, but it was an almost irresistible smell to him. Brian never really thought too much about his sexuality, he liked women, so he wasn’t gay, but the thought of kissing Mat’s lips while running hands through his soft hair, while feeling the skin on his chest underneath his shirt was a thought that popped into his head more times than he’d care to admit. It was a curiosity. That’s all it was. To know how soft Mat’s lips were, how they’d feel against his own, if he was a good kisser, maybe friends shouldn’t be curious about that, but it was the only good explanation he had to explain away his desire. “Hey Mat?” Mat glanced up at Brian. “Can I try something?” Mat crooked his head slightly as Brian moved his hand to Mat’s cheek before rubbing his thumb over his skin. “I’m just curious…”
“Hm?”
“Can I kiss you?”
Mat thought for a second. “Isn’t that kinda gay?”
“What!? No way! But it could answer some questions...”
Mat shrugged before adjusting himself to face Brian better, placing his hand into Brian’s short curls. “I suppose.”
If Mat was honest he had the same curiosity, especially whenever he witnessed Brian making out with a girl right in front of him, he always tried looking away but he couldn’t help but feel the way he ran his hands over her arm, or the way he held her face in place with his other hand, the way he leaned over to meet her lips. They paused for a second with barely any space between them as Brian’s hand on Mat’s cheek pulled him a little closer as their lips met.
Brian felt his heart race as Mat’s soft lips pressed against his, it felt better than what he expected, not that he had low expectations from Mat, but he didn’t expect to immediately feel his heart race, or to feel so much nervousness that started from his fingertips as he touched his fingers over Mat’s chest, and to feel his hands begin to shake as his other hand held Mat’s face in place, he didn’t expect Mat to reciprocate exactly the same by gripping at his hair, as he rested his other hand on his shoulder, and he didn’t expect what he thought would be a short kiss to last way longer than that, but still not long enough as their lips separated. Mat chuckled before quickly wiping away the saliva that connected their lips, they both smiled for a few seconds before Brian slowly moved his hand away from Mat’s face.
“Woah…” Brian chuckled. Mat laughed as he awkwardly looked away from Brian, but still cuddled up to him like he was before.
Mat cleared his throat before speaking. “Did that answer your questions?”
“Yeah… yeah it answered something.”
