Chapter Text

“Your son has proven himself Nolan. You have taught him well and he will make a fine addition to the Viltrumite Empire.” Boomed Emperor Thragg. 

Mark felt eyes all on him but he kept his head bowed and awaited further instructions whilst trying to ignore the pain he was in with his broken fibula sticking out of leg and irritation of being covered in blood and guts.  

He hated the feel of blood on his skin.  

Of course, he couldn’t show that weakness in front of the emperor and every other Viltrumite that stood in the room to watch him battle the 99 other breeds he had just killed in a battle to the death. 

”Thank you, your excellency.” His father replied in a cold stone voice. It had been years since he had heard even a remote inflection of warmth from him. That had been back on earth. 

”Arise Markus.” Commanded Emperor Thragg. 

Mark did as he was told and painfully stood to his feet finally making eye contact with the elder Viltrumite. 

”I commend you on your victory. You have proven yourself a true Viltrumite and have shed light on the path the empire shall take in restoring our power to full glory.” Said Thragg and then he stood and addressed the entire room. 

”We are going to Earth! Where we will conquer it and mate with its inhabitants and restore our power.” 

"TO THE EMPIRE!" He then bellowed across the chamber room.

"Glory to the Viltrumite Empire!" Began the chant from all the other Viltrumites.

"Glory to the Viltrumite Empire!" 

"Glory to the Viltrumite Empire!"

Mark took a deep breath.

He was going home!

Chapter Text

The last time he had been here he was seven years old and then his powers had activated and his father had taken him away from his screaming mother.  

He thought about her a lot and wondered if she was still around. 

His father had forbid him from looking for her. They had a mission to complete, and she would be a distraction. 

Still thoughts of his mother lingered in his mind and it’s why he supposed he had decided to land in Chicago for his mission. 

His father had amazingly convinced the emperor that they should infiltrate Earth first.  

Why had the emperor listened? Mark did not know but he glad that his birth world would not be conquered and destroyed yet. In the week since they had landed, he was reminded of just how beautiful the planet was. 

General Kregg and Anissa didn’t think so. Thula and Lucan surprisingly did.  

Conquest didn’t care. He wanted the first part of their mission to be over quickly so they could move onto the next part, the conquering. 

But first they had to breed. 

Including himself.  

He was expected to find at least seven concubines to mate with whilst his father was to reintegrate back into earth & disarm the planet whilst preparing for Viltrumite takeover.  

He would’ve preferred that too breeding. 

He had never even done the act before and never thought about having offspring. He hated the life he had. Why would he want his children to have it too? 

But orders were orders and so he had been scouting for mates. 

His father had explained the concept of attraction to him. He had told him to look at the other sex and if he felt any of the signs, then that was a clear indication to pursue. 

His father also taught him everything he knew about seduction. Most humans didn’t mate for reproduction purposes like how Viltrumites did. 

They did mate for children but because they wanted them, not because they needed to grow their population. They also apparently mated for fun, for emotions, for money.  

They had a multitude of reasons apparently which made seducing them a more difficult process for Viltrumites. One of the reasons his father had convinced emperor Thragg to hold off the empire conquering them. 

Mark found himself in normal clothes he hadn’t worn in so long whilst scanning an area of people who looked to be his age.  

He remembered being in school before he had been taken off world. This place was apparently like school but a more advanced version. 

College. 

He wondered if he would’ve come here had his powers have never activated? 

He wondered what it would be like to just be human?
