Work Text:
To most, Barbara of old is back. The bitter, angry woman, who sees everyone as out to get her. Had I not been her partner for so long, I would probably see her that way too.
But I know the real her.
Her anger isn't even anger, it's built-up hurt. It’s unspoken pain, unaddressed feelings, ignored emotions, and silent disappointments.
She believes I’m just like the rest, that I’ve betrayed her, left her twisting in the wind when the actions that brought us here were her saving me - again.
Now it’s my turn to save her.
I hope I get it right.
