Chapter Text
Daivik college au
Daivik was tired. He almost regrets going to college, but dropping out now would mean wasting his parents' limited money. He's lucky to be here and should be grateful. He was grateful, but he was also so very tired.
His schedule was full with an engineering major, his club and then his job at the cafe down the road. He took as many hours as he could get at the cafe, in order to have enough money to not be in too much student debt. If he was lucky he would be back in his room to get around 5 hours of sleep.
Currently, Daivik was at work. There was an upcoming play that he was expected to join, so he worked extra hours, so when the play did come around, he could focus on that more and not be as worried about money.
The day was definitely one of the better days. None of them had been yelled at by costumers, and it was generally a relaxing day. He had even gotten a few tips. He would even say the day was good. Up until the dark haired man walked in.
Daivik frowned and rolled his eyes. He didn't know why Ace had decided to come to this cafe. It wasn't anything fancy, the pastries were mediocre and the coffee was most popular among the many college students.
"Why'd it have to be you?" Was all Ace had to say. Daivik almost felt a blood vessel popping.
"I could ask you the same thing. Now are you going to order or will you prolong our suffering by staying grumpily talkative?" Ace rolled his eyes and took out his wallet. He spent some time debating what to use and Daivik was almost certain his blood was literally boiling now. Of course it stemmed from jealousy. Not having to work to your bones because daddy can pay for everything is what everyone wants. Being able to focus on your studies and not have to worry about debt.
"A latte and a muffin. Think you can handle that, oh great Romeo?" Daivik was about to throttle him, especially when that stupid smirk formed on his face. Being called anything theater related outside of theater was the worst. Daivik used to love theater, still likes it, but after so many years of being pressured to it, even when he was exhausted, made it sour. He would prefer to keep theater talk in the theater.
Daivik forces the price out and Ace went to pay.
"Your name will be called when your order's ready".
Daivik got to work making the latte. It was routine and he often daydreamed while making drinks. This time, he was thinking of Ace. What was something he could do to get a win today? He smirked when he finally got it, right when the latter was done. He glanced up at Ace. He was busy looking at something. Daivik got the latte and muffin, then he looked directly at Ace.
"Coffee for dipshit!". Was it stupid? Yes. Was it childish? Absolutely. But the look on Ace's face made it all better. He was embarrassed. Serves him right.
This had been their dynamic for a long time now. They were a pain in each other's butts. If they were stuck at the same school, might as well torment the other, right?
Ace came up to collect his order.
"Really?" Daivik shrugs and pushes the order towards Ace.
"Have a great day!" Daivik is holding back a giggle. This was so much better than he planned.
For some reason, Ace had decided this would become a routine. He came in at the same times each week. Daivik got used to it. Started knowing what Ace would order. A latte with a treat of some kind. Daivik was preparing the latte right before Ace would come in, basically just needing to add the latte art before it was ready. Of course it was never the typical art. Daivik had spent hours learning new art patterns. His favorite was a penis in the style of typical latte art. Sometimes he added googly eyes and made faces in the latte. He even learned how to give the finger to Ace with latte art.
Today Daivik had used 'Daddy's money' while calling Ace's order, and it was probably the best idea he ever had. Ace was really ticked off. If Daivik was able to, he would frame a picture of that look on his wall. Ace sat down and started practicing chess with himself. Daivik rolled his eyes before going back to work.
His day was quickly saved when his favorite person walked in. He noticed the copper hair of Onyx, that he had helped dye. He grinned and leaned on the counter, waiting for Onyx to make it to the register.
"And what can i get you handsome?" He winked as he said this.
"Well, your time after your shift for one."
"Oh yeah? I'll have to check if i have time for you." Daivik winked and playfully stuck out his tongue.
"Oh you always have time for me, let's be honest." Onyx was grinning.
Daivik was so grateful he had met Onyx. They had saved him at a time where he didn’t have the best of friends, or any friends at all. Although Onyx was older, they were in the same year as Daivik, so they spent a lot of time together, despite the different majors.
"I get off work a little late today. Is that okay?" Daivik said.
"Sure, as long as you don't blow me off... Unless~" Onyx winked and got a stupid flirty grin on his face. Daivik laughed.
"We can do that later~ I'll see you in some hours babes."
