Chapter Text
You stumble through the halls, trying to find your room while the ships is being thrown about in the storm. Your hand grasps at the doorhandle, just as the ship jerks violently, throwing you through door. You hit your bed and hold on for dear life, praying the storm ends soon.
-----
You stretch slowly, savouring the weighted warmth around you. The storm passed, leaving the ship creaking with each gentle motion. You roll over and face plant a hot wall of muscle.
"Huh?" Suddenly your wide awake, your eyes slowly trace their way past the broad chest and shoulders, up to a soft smile and kind eyes.
"Morning, how'd you sleep?" Ace tightened his arms around you
"What? Did you walk into the wrong room last night?" You pulled your hands to your chest
"Uh no," Ace smirked "You are in my room."
"What? No that can't be right." You sit up and look around. This was definitely not your room "Oh I'm so sorry, I'll leave now- uh!"
Ace pulled you back into his arms "Nope, not happening."
"And why not?" You huff, blushing furiously
"Because you're warm and you smell good." Your heart stops
"It's called soap, maybe if you showered more often you wouldn't stink as much." You pull the blanket up to your chin, try to face away from Ace
"Woah, are you always this feisty first thing in the morning?"
"Only on days that end in 'Y'"
"And here I was thinking we could make this a regular thing." You turn slowly
"What thing?" Ace's gaze darkens, his eyes tracing your lips
"You, sleeping in my bed." You cheeks heat up, Ace smirks his signature cocky grin
"And why would I agree to that?" You try to feign indifference
"If you really wanted to leave, you would have." Ace turns to lay on his back, he catches your eyes on his flexing muscles.
You role your eyes and sit up.
"This really was an accident," you mumble
"I know, that storm threw us around pretty good. I was still pleasantly surprised to find you, passed out on my bed." Ace chuckles "I tried to move you, but you just wrapped your arms around me and wouldn't let go."
A loud sigh escapes your lips, storm aside, you did sleep very well.
"Whatever, I probably thought you were a blanket or something."
Ace sits up, ruffling your hair "it's OK, I didn't mind one bit."
You're shocked expression makes Ace smile, his eyes warm and inviting.
"Thank you, we should probably go inspect the damage or something."
"No need, we made it to a port. Got the locals caring for that."
"So what do we do then?" Ace winks at you before wrapping you in his embrace once again
"We can sleep in. Thatch has taken the morning off to clean up so breakfast isn't happening."
"Well alright then, but I'm not staying here all day."
"If you did we wouldn't be sleeping." Ace chuckles under his breath. You shrug and lean into his arms, you can feel his breath hitch and heat beat rapidly.
"I wouldn't mind having a nap, it's rare we get too anyway." Ace lowers both of you to lay down. You lay chest to chest, with his arms at your waist.
"Do I get a goodnight kiss?" Ace jokes but freezes when you move to peck his cheek. Now it's his turn to be bright red and wide awake.
