Hornet didn't usually like having her cloak off, so she didn't take it off unless nessesarry like treating her own wounds, so, it would surprise any bug if they saw her without her cloak.
Hornet's cloak had gotten torn and was in no condition to be worn, so she had to wait till she could weave a new one or even just get one so she decided that since she wasn't in any current danger, she could stay in the same area while she waits.
Lace had stopped trying to attack Hornet a while ago and instead would just hang out around Hornet, and Lace had noticed that Hornet eventually stopped getting annoyed by her presence and even her teasing.
Lace had been simply walking around, while she wasn't specifically looking for Hornet, she wanted to know where Hornet was and she kept walking around untill she eventually found the camp that Hornet had set up and started to approach her.
Hornet had just been sitting there on the quilt she had weaved a few weeks ago and noticed that lace found her camp and was approaching her but Hornet pretended not to notice because it seemed like Lace was trying to sneak up on her and she might as well indulge her.
Lace was going to sneak up on her but by the time she got close enough to actually see Hornet she saw fluff and quite a bit too, and so, Lace stops right dead in her tracks and has to make a double take, she definitely didn't expect that Hornet was fluffy.
Hornet finally decided to notify Lace that she already saw her and that she could stop hiding "I know you're there, you can come over here and just sit down" she says it without even turning to look at Lace so she didn't see that Lace had frozen in place.
Lace slowly starts walking towards her again and when she gets to Hornet she sits down next to her and she just states at Hornet's fluff and is tempted to touch her fluff but doesn't "you have fluff?" while what she said was a statement, she spoke it like a question
Hornet had forgotten that she didn't have her cloak on so she hadn't known that Lace could see her fluff but it didn't matter to her much because she was comfortable enough with lace at this point "yes I have fur, you can even touch it if you'd like" she says it with a shrug and doesn't expect Lace to want to.
Lace jumps at the chance and she basically just flops onto Hornet and snuggles into her fur, mumbling the word 'soft' and she hopes that Hornet doesn't push her away because this is the most comfortable she has been in her life.
Hornet froze in surprise for a few seconds before laying down slowly onto the quilt that she had been using as a makeshift bed, Hornet had never liked not having cloak on but she could think of now as an exception.
