Dead Keep Talking

Summary:

Ask: In it, the reader (gender female) has a nightmare about losing Leo, and Leo does his best to comfort her. Make it take place after the Rise movie and have Leo and the Reader be dating in it.

Notes:

I'm trying to get a lot of requests done so I don't have to worry about it this month since I'm busy... But I'm getting a tiny bit burnt out lmao

Work Text:

The air feels heavy as you see Leo drop to his knees. His plastron is broken, blood trickling from the split. He instinctively covers the crack in his plastron with his hand, coughing up more blood. You make an effort to run to him, but you wake up abruptly, your body drenched in cold sweat before you can reach him.

You sit up, gasping for air, and flinch when you sense an arm around your waist. "Baby...?" You hear Leo mumble, sitting up a little to kiss your shoulder. "What's wrong?"

"N-Nothing..." You try, wiping your eyes and sniffing. Leo scoots closer, pulling you back against his plastron. "Just a dream."

"Come on, baby. I can tell it wasn't a good dream." He murmurs, nuzzling you neck. He churrs quietly, rubbing your sides. "Tell me about your nightmare."

You pause for a moment, contemplating whether to reveal the entire truth about your nightmare to him. But maybe it’s better to approach it with a lighter touch. "It was about you and I couldn't get to you."

"Couldn't get to me?" He asks, wrapping his arms tight around your waist.

"You were hurt." You explain further, your hands moving to lace your fingers with his. You can feel Leo nuzzle you more, his churrs quieting to comfort you.

"You had a dream where I was dying..." He finishes, resting his chin on your shoulder. You give a small nod and he quickly spins you around to face him. He presses your hand to his plastron and a few of your fingers to his pulse. "I'm alive, baby. I'm not going anywhere."
