The young Demon took many breaths saliva dripping from his Mouth as he observed the slayers sent to slay him. He should’ve killed and eaten them it wasn’t hard. His webs could control their body. Paralyzing them and it would be no issue.
It wasn’t before. That’s how he received the title Lower Five after all.
He held out his hand the web’s attaching themselves to the slayers back. But instead of eating them… he sent them out of the mountain.
He doesn’t know why. Something happened a year ago that he saw made him stop eating something that he had long forgotten and made him stop finding their appetizing. Lord Ubuyashiki noticed and stripped him of his rank.
It was painful when it happened yes. But he doesn’t find himself as ashamed as he should’ve been. He wasn’t hiding the crossed out Lower Five that was visible on his eyes.
The humans yelled convinced they were going to die as his strings controlled their body and forced them out of Mt. Natagumo. He doesn’t know why he does this… he’s starving and he needs to eat, yet even the thought of doing so made his mind revolt.
It was as if two beings were in him. His body and instincts telling him to eat the humans who so foolishly entered the forest he resided in and his mind who was disgusted of the dead bodies.
He found himself burying the bodies of the slayers who died on the Mountain. Be it them jumping of ledge because they couldn’t take it anymore. Him scaring them, or the webs being too harsh and pulling on them too forcefully killing them.
“Caw!” A bird caught in one of his webs caught his attention. It was bleeding, and terrified. Normally he’d let it go. But he’s not being normal right now as normally he wouldn’t be starving as he would have eaten a human.
Fuck it.
He grabbed the trapped bird but instead of being calmer it flailed even more. Could it sense his intentions? Doesn’t matter.
The Demon gripped the black bird harder more blood coming out of its body. He looked at it. Feeling sympathy. But he was so so hungry and the disgust in himself was nonexistent with the bird as it did with a human recently.
He bit it swallowing as much of its blood as he could. The bird took its last breath soon after.
Rui drank ever drop of blood until it was nonexistent in the bird and he felt relief.
After a year of starving himself he finally had blood granted it wasn’t as delicious as a Human’s but it was something and right now it tasted like the best thing he’ll ever have.
And yet…

was still
so
Hungry.
”There he is!” He heard a human coming from behind and when they got closer he heard a gasp.
“He ate that slayers Kasugai crow!”
Rui turned around he could still feel the saliva dripping from his mouth as he tried brushing it away. A girl with the demon slayer uniform had her hair up in a side ponytail a pink butterfly attached to it. The other was a Boy with a green haori who carried a box on his back.
He tilted his head a little curious.
A civilian with a Demon slayer?
His curiousity was short lived as the girl struck towards him. He used his webs to latch onto her sword and tossed her away like a rag doll. The other boy caught her and- shit what was that smell?
Rui held his nose until he saw that the girl was bleeding! Fuck!
The boy seemed to have noticed the slayer’s open wound and quickly covered her, Rui chocked down his saliva and made a run for it.
“Why did he… run away?”
