A Wanted Assailant

Summary:

Steve's dragged into an alley, but his mugger is the person he's most longed to see.

Chapter Text

Steve’s no stranger to fights, obviously, but it is unusual to get randomly yanked into an alley.

Steve squares up, ready for some asshole bully to demand his money like they’re in high school, but he’s flung to the ground and a crushing weight presses on his chest. It almost feels like an asthma attack.

His assailant has long, greasy hair and dirty clothes. Steve’s seen him in the news, masked and dressed in leather like his kinkier fantasies.

He’s not masked, now and Steve would know that face, those eyes, anywhere.

“Bucky?”

Bucky scowls. “How do I know you?”

Chapter 2

Notes:

I'm blown away by the response this got and was inspired to add to it. I didn't use the quote smlm suggested, but it's a similar theme.

Chapter Text

Steve’s drawn Bucky’s eyes and mouth a million times, but now his eyes are sharp and cold, and his mouth is almost pouting.

He wants to lunge forward and kiss the pout off, try to warm him up with his lips, but he can tell Bucky’s not in his right mind. How could he forget Steve? What happened?!

“We’ve been best friends forever, Bucky, and lovers half our lives. I thought you were dead.”

Still scrutinizing, Bucky echoes “I thought you were dead… your heart, your lungs. You need protection.”

“You always have my back in fights,” Steve says, hopeful.
