Chapter 1: A Hotel?

Chapter Text

“Finally,” said Nene, heaving her suitcase out of the airport and sighing, “we’re in England.”

“This is going to be amazing!” Yelled Tsukasa, striking a pose. “Time to spread my stardom to another corner of the world!”

“Or maybe no one will be interested,” said Rui with a laugh, “I mean, the culture is quite different here.”

“Hey!” Said Tsukasa, turning to Rui and shouting. “Everyone will appreciate the world future star!”

“Shut up!” Said Nene with a groan. “You’re giving me a headache. Can we just get to the hotel already?”

“Alright, alright!” Said Tsukasa. “Let us take our leave!”

Just then a bundle of pink shot towards Nene and she tumbled to the floor, with a scream. However, she soon smiled as she saw the girl with short pink hair smiling back at her.

“What an unexpected encounter,” said Rui with a grin.

“Emu!” Nene said with a gasp. “How did you get here?”

“Yeah,” said Tsukasa, “how?”

“Oh,” said Emu, jumping up and moving back from Nene, “I was actually travelling here with my family…”

Then her smile faded and she looked to the ground.

“But,” she continued, “I actually lost sight of them and now I don’t know what to do.”

“Oh dear,” said Nene.

“Are you sure that you have no idea where to find them?” Said Rui.

“Yes,” said Emu, scrunching her eyes up, “I have no idea what to do guys!”

“That does sound like a disaster,” said Tsukasa, placing his hand on his chin, “hmm, what to do…”

No one said a word for a couple minutes and Emu slumped down on the floor and began to sigh and hug her knees to her chest. Nene looked over at her and frowned, watching Emu rock back and forth, scrunching up her eyes as if she was going to cry.

“Wait!” Said Nene. “What if, Emu comes with us back to the hotel and then we can find some way of contacting her parents so she can go back with them?”

“Oh yeah!” Said Emu, jumping up from the floor.

“Now that’s what a good idea looks like, Tsukasa,” said Rui with a laugh.

Tsukasa rolled his eyes and Emu began to jump up and down.

“This way,” she said, “I can walk with you guys and we can all have fun seeing the sights in London! I’ve always wanted to go to London!”

“Well,” said Nene, with a smile, “what would you like to see first, Emu?”

“Oh, I really like the London eye because it looks just like the fairest wheel back at home, but it’s waaayyyy bigger.”

“Right then,” said Tsukasa, “let’s go to the hotel!”

“Yeah,” said Rui, “we should probably get there before the rest of our classmates is out of sight.”

“Wait a second!” Said Nene. “Where are the rest of our classmates?”

“Oh shit!” Said Tsukasa, as everyone’s stomachs dropped like a rock sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

Everyone exchange wide eyed glances at each other.

“Noooo!” Said Emu. “I can’t be lost again! This must be a curse!”

“Don’t worry Emu,” said Nene, placing her hand on Emu’s shoulder as she began to sob, “I’m sure they couldn’t have gone far.”

“You’re right,” said Tsukasa, “the sooner we go after them, the better chance we have of finding them!”

As he said this he began to run across the street, the other three looked at each other for a bit they ran after him.

After running for about ten minutes, Tsukasa skidded to a stop and began to point at a huge black building with big glass windows, breathing heavily.

“There!” He said. “That must be it!”

“Soooo big,” said Emu, her eyes wide.

“Hmm,” said Nene, looking the building up and down, “it looks a little strange for a hotel, though.”

“Well,” said Tsukasa, “it’s dark and we can’t really see much. Plus it’s about the proper shape of a hotel, and there’s a lot of glass like a hotel, so this must be it!”

“If you say so,” said Nene.

“It’s worth a try,” said Rui.

“Alright,” said Tsukasa, “let’s go!”

He pushed open the door to the building and he walked inside, followed by the other three.

As they walked inside, they saw a long room with a tall ceiling and an endless row of mostly empty desks. The cold night air no longer breezed past them, but instead a slight warmth.

“Wow,” said Emu as they walked inside, her eyes to the ceiling “it’s sooo fancy in here, it’s all shiny blue and black.”

“Yeah,” mumbled Nene, “some hotel…”

“That’s odd,” said Rui, his eyes darting around, “there really aren’t many people here.”

“Well it is late,” said Tsukasa with a laugh that shook slightly with doubt, “I’m sure they’re all in bed or something. Anyway, I propose we split up. That way, we can find out which hotel rooms our school is using and we can finally get this whole situation sorted.”

“Good idea!” Said Emu, clenching both her fists and smiling. “I’ll go to first floor, the second floor and the third floor!”

“I’ll check the next three floors,” said Rui.

“I guess I’ll check floors seven to nine,” said Nene, with a sigh.

“Well I’ll check the very last floor!” Said Tsukasa.

“But what about all the other floors?” Said Emu, tilting her head to one side.

“No one uses those!” Tsukasa said with a laugh. “Now as soon as one of us finds the right floor, they come and get the rest of us! Got it?”

“Yep!” They all said, before walking their separate ways.

Tsukasa walked around in the dark, sighing to himself, and a bubbling annoyance in his stomach.

“Why does it take so long to get all the way up here!”

Just then a word ingrained in gold on a door snapped his attention away from the thought of climbing stairs: Pegasus.

“Can it be?!” He said, running over to the door, his bubbling feeling fading into sparks. “This room must have been designed specifically for me, I mean, my name does mean Pegasus after all.”

He grabbed the handle and flung open the door, before shouting:

“It is I, Tsukasa Tenma, the World Future Star!”
