Work Text:
Utena laid her head on Anthy’s and let out a contented exhale. They were sitting outside on their porch bench with the afternoon sun shining on their legs, partially blocked by the canopy above them. Anthy had her head laid on Utena’s shoulder with her legs stretched across the seat, as she was crocheting little flowers for a cardigan she was making. Utena had her eyes closed, just soaking in the feeling of the warm sun mixed with cool shade, and enjoying the silent company of her girlfriend.
Before she knew it, Utena found herself dozing off, lightly snoring in a way that made Anthy giggle once she noticed. She looked at the drawstring pouch she used to store completed flowers, and got an idea. She slowly sat up and grabbed a handful of crochet flowers, and lightly placed them across Utena’s body; on her shoulders, on her lap, in her hair, and even one perfectly placed on the tip of her nose. Anthy then carefully nestled herself back into her old position, and looked at Utena, waiting for her to wake up and notice the flowers scattered across her. Anthy nearly dozed off herself, but noticed the rose-haired girl rustle a bit before she could drift off.
“Nn… did I fall asleep?” Utena leaned forward slightly as she awoke from her nap, then flinched at the feeling of something falling off her nose “What was that?– a flower?” She looked down and saw what was probably around a dozen crochet flowers strewn across her body. She looked at a smirking Anthy, then returned with a playful smirk of her own “What, were you trying to turn me into a flower bush?”
“Maybe,” Anthy chuckled as Utena started placing some flowers on her too “Do you not like being a flower bush?”
“Nah, not quite my style. I think it would suit a pretty girl like you, though,” Utena gently pulled Anthy closer by the back of her head, and kissed her forehead. She then picked up a little purple crochet flower in her hand, and clasped it gently “I like this one though, mind if I keep it?”
Anthy smiled as she plucked the flowers from herself and Utena “Go ahead. I made more of those than I need.”
After they picked up all the flowers and put them back in the pouch, they leaned against each other yet again and spent the rest of their lazy afternoon napping.
