Work Text:
The moon rose over the horizon, with it the scarlet pearl. She sat alone in her tower with Tilly, her true soul bound.
She didn't need Scott or anyone like that. She doesn't need any alliances or anything of the sort. She's got her dogs and her tower.
It doesn't hurt when everyone avoids her or when she's branded the crazy lady. She's fine with it as a matter of fact.
It's not like it stings when others take an instinctual step back whenever she's around. It doesn't really!
At least the moons on her side. Artimes, hecate, máni, thoth, whoever you believe in. She will never truly be alone with the moon in the sky.
She had an odd beauty in a way. Almost untouchable as she illuminates the night sky. Pearl wonders if the moon ever feels like this. It's a silly thought. The moons not alive but on nights like this when she illuminates her entire tower, moonlight washing over her space, it's easy to believe that...maybe she understands. Maybe she's reconciling her, like a strange, lunar hug.
She may not be as warm as the sun, but her moonlight is like a blanket, momentarily shielding pearl from her worries.
