Work Text:
I’m never attending school, ever again. From now on, I’ll live life for myself and live my life with happiness!
…Yi-Han, a Korean graduate student, thus swore after obtaining his Master’s degree with much effort.
He was never going near a place of study ever again.
However, as the saying goes, things never go as planned.
When Yi-Han was reborn as a Wardanaz, he was at first puzzled. Then fascinated. Then agonized
Not for politics
Not for society…
but about how he won’t be able to watch or hear Till; a fictional character. Before finally accepting the situation he was in and deciding that he won’t forget about his favorite shows, characters from earth ever.
During his childhood as a Wardanaz, Yihan picked up art as a hobby… though, he only kept on drawing the same person over and over again before changing to a different person…the thing is , no one in the household had ever seen the people he drew before.
Soon, Yihan started writing strange words- lyrics only he knew that, which the head maid thought was magic symbols but Yihan swore it wasn’t…
And in the blink of an eye, 15 years had passed.
Now in his dorm room, sitting on his bed.
It’s night time…Almost time for dinner Yihan thought in his head…
He imagines Till, his shaggy grey hair, his teal coloured rebellious eyes…his thinly built frame…the boy who had survived abuse, manipulation, and near-death experiences, yet never gave up…Till, whose love for Mizi had fueled his strength even when beaten and locked in solitary…. Till, who had been saved and protected by Ivan, only for tragedy to strike again and again…..
Yihan still remembered crying his eyes out, cursing Luka during the Final round. He also remembered his tears of joy and screams when he saw Till as a rebel at the end of Karma.
Every time Yihan had a vacation or during the weekend or free-time he would rewatch Alien Stage over and over with fan made videos, fan art, alternate universes of Till… Ah, the good times
Yihan sniffed. He got too emotional remembering his past again.
First time he got emotional was when his older brother asked if Till was imaginary, which Yihan took it personal even if he knew that he was fiction, his love for Till was real. That day, Yihan felt embarrassed that he simped out in public to his family about Till.
Yihan stood up from his bed and made his way to the common room.
He opened his room door only to find Gainando, Yonaire, Asan and some other unnamed students of Blue Dragon peering their ears on his door, they fell on his feet as they tumble on top of each other.
Yihan glared at them, irritated “what are you guys doing?”
“h-huh?...oh nothing just passing by! Yep...nothing else” Gainando said quickly, panicked.
“Right…with your ears glued to my door?” Yihan said, unamused by his lie.
Yonaire got up brushing her robe from dust. “You’ve been acting strange… I mean today you didn’t even pay attention today in Professor Gracia’s lecture. You never daydreamed in class before”
“right, and you keep mumbling a name even doodling sometimes” Asan adds with a hint of confusion with an eyebrow raised.
They’ve noticed too much…ugh dammit Yihan mentally curses, he swore he never spoke too much about Till, he didn’t, maybe they were just very observant.
Gainando leaned forward, eyes gleaming with the excitement of a gossip-hungry noble. “soo Yihan who is the person you get distracted by?”
“none of your business” Yihan spat out in annoyance.
Crap… I can’t let them know that he’s a character…or even from this world
“He’s someone important to me, nothing else for you to know.”
“right…someone so important that the great Yihan Wardanaz would cry for” Gainando giggled
“what- I did not cry!” Yihan’s face blushed with embarrassment.
“you’re eyes are red Yihan.. is something wrong?” Yonaire asked with worry.
Gainando leaned closer, whispering. “Sure, sure… just fine.... So… is it a secret admirer? A forbidden romance? A tragic hero?”
“No! It’s… personal!” Yi-Han shouted, spinning away in embarrassment. Forbidden romance? Ha! If only they knew… Ivan died for him… Till survived it all… ah I ship them so hard…
