Chapter Text
It was a casual Saturday in the pizzeria. Nice day outside, lots of customers. Though, Elliot wasn’t able to enjoy the weather. He had to work all shifts. Only dumping garbage took place outdoors. As dreadful as that sounds, Elliot genuinely enjoyed his job! He was on cashier duty currently, smiling as he took every customer’s order.
He stopped smiling when the previous customer walked away, revealing Chance, who stood behind them, now face to face with Elliot. He decided to visit Builder Brothers Pizza on a weekend? Shouldn’t he be in his casino? He could’ve missed the taste. It was a common thing he ate during Forsaken. You know, eating something so often, eventually growing fond of it… maybe?
A whole month passed since they’ve been free… back into Robloxia. Everyone had stuff they got back to, continued their lives. Was Chance not preoccupied?
He had another guess, a more silly one, but no way! Why would he come here just to see Elliot? They weren’t really friends—more like acquaintances, or people forced to work together as a team. Were they fond of each other? Yes, but not that much as to being content enough to visit each other. He came to a final conclusion that he must be ordering pizza for the casino, that seems about right, but couldn’t he have it delivered?
It’s been a hot minute once Elliot realized he’d been zoning out, staring at Chance. He was a tad embarrassed once he realized.
Chance waved, attempting to get Elliot’s attention. “Hellooo! Earth to Elliot! Ya there? I know I’m handsome. Can’t help but stare, eh?”
Elliot squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head as he pushed all those thoughts aside. Unfortunately he only heard the last bit of Chance’s sentence. Honestly, Chance wasn’t a bad looking guy, but he wasn’t staring for that matter.
“Sorry, I zoned out—what would you like?” Elliot forced a smile and a casual tone, but if he wasn’t in public he would have said something back to Chance, along with asking a load of questions. He just pretended he hadn’t heard what he said earlier.
Chance smirked once Elliot finally replied. “I’ll take a pepperoni pizza, normal size. Nothin’ else.” Elliot planted the order into the cash register, repeating the order and cost, handing Chance the receipt after he slid his credit card then slipped it back into his pocket. He took another card out and handed it to Elliot. It looked like a business card, now that Elliot took a closer look at it. He noticed a phone number and address. “Must be the address to his casino.”
Maybe Chance wanted to keep in touch. “Thanks.” Elliot slid the card into his back pocket and made sure to remember to add his contact when he got home. “No prob! Just don’t want ya missin’ me, kid.” Chance smirked like he always did and went off and took a seat as he waited for his pizza. “He thinks he’s so charming…” Elliot thought to himself—wholeheartedly, not spitefully, before enthusiastically taking the order for the next customer in line.
After a whole day of working at the pizzeria, Elliot was finally able to enjoy the day—or night… it was dark out and he was exhausted. He wasn’t going to bother heading out his house this late, but he didn’t have any ideas on what to do before going to bed.
That’s when he got one. He took the card out of the back pocket of his uniform pants. They were already folded away. Of course he hadn’t remembered this sooner, but he didn’t mind. He grabbed his phone and added the contact, sending a message, hoping Chance would reply, which he probably wouldn’t. He waited a few minutes, still no reply. Elliot decided to take a nap since he had nothing better to do.
Just as he was able to fall asleep, he heard his phone ring. He picked it up and answered. “Hello?”
Chance was on the other end, there were tons of other people speaking in the background, making it hard to hear him. “Chance. If this is you, exit the casino if you wanna speak. I can’t hear you over everyone there!”
“Alright I’m out! Can you hear me now?” Elliot was relived he could now make out his voice. “Yes. That’s better…. Why’d you call?”
“Oh uhh I was just bored y’know, got nothin’ better to do. I thought why not call an old friend?! Heh.” Elliot was glad he thought of him as a friend. “You could’ve texted me back, and don’t you have other friends to talk to? I don’t mind speaking to you—just a bit out of the blue eheh…”
Chance chuckled slightly. “Oh yeah, plenty! Just wanted to catch up with you, Elli.”
“Really? That’s nice of you Chance. Well uh, nothing much—I’m just glad I’m able to work back at the pizza place. I missed my job…”
“You’re that dedicated to your job huh? That’s admirable, Elliot. I did miss my casino too, but for some odd reason I find myself missing the cabin… it was peaceful, you know? And this game we were in. Those rounds—they were like a challenge. I liked taking risks. I could gamble with my life. We died countless times, yet always respawned. I didn’t have to be so cautious, unlike here. Now I have to worry about my safety. It was fun, not caring about death because we didn’t die forever…—I’m ranting now, sorry.”
Elliot thought on that for a moment, it was interesting to him. All Elliot thought when he was forsakened was survival and safety, but his perspective was different. “Chance, you can talk more if you want. I was listening, I didn’t mind at all!”
Chance was relieved. “Thanks… uh what was I saying? Oh! Yeah, I just miss the ability to respawn. I also wanted to keep contact with the other survivors… Guest, Two Time, Shedletsky… you know the rest! Unfortunately, I hadn’t asked for their number… but I knew I’d find you here!”
Elliot smiled a bit at that. Chance was right. Where do the others live anyway? Are they even in the same region? “Haha yeah! Chance, is your casino near the pizzeria? Maybe I could visit you sometime there!”
“Good idea! Yeah it’s nearby. I’ll share the address. It’s open everyday of the week. It’s especially busy on weekend nights, somewhat weekday nights! Just visit anytime you’re free!”
“Alright cool! Must be really busy right now then? I’ll be there Monday. Possibly even get off early.”
“Sounds great! Yeah, it’s real busy right now. I should probably head back. They might be looking for me eheh. Well, good talk! Have a nice one, Elli. I’m looking forward to seeing you Monday!”
“Yeah! ‘night Chance, bye!” As soon as he said that, Chance hung up. Elliot sighed. He noticed Chance shared his location with him. Now he could check the distance of the casino from the pizzeria. “So that’s where it is huh? That isn’t too far from the pizzeria.” Elliot set his phone on the nightstand and fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
