Celebration
Today Jiang Cheng woke up earlier than usual. *Much* earlier than usual. After all, today was an important day. It was Lan Xichen's birthday, and he had things to do before his Lan Huan woke up. He placed a kiss on Xichen's bare forehead before his departure.
The first thing on his list of things to do was to get out the gifts he'd been collecting for Xichen's birthday. He had hidden them in various places, and got them separately so as to not cause suspicion. He got them out, placing them neatly on the table.
When that was done he went to the kitchen, getting started on the breakfast he was going to make for him. Jiang Cheng didn't think of himself as an extraordinary chef or anything, but he had picked up a thing or two from his sister.
When that was done he brought the food back to their shared bedroom. He arrived to see Lan Xichen already awake, looking over at him as he entered. A soft smile made its way to his lips.
“Good morning.”
Jiang Cheng greeted as he brought the food over to Lan Xichen.
“Good morning, my heart.”
He said, happily receiving both the food and the kiss his husband so lovingly placed on his cheek.
“Happy Birthday.”
Jiang Cheng said softly as he sat down beside him on the bed.
“Your friends and brother will be here this afternoon to celebrate.”
Jiang Cheng informed him.
“And you planned this for me?”
Lan Xichen asked him knowingly. Jiang Cheng turned away, so Xichen could only see the flush on the tips of his ears.
“So what if I did?”
Lan Xichen chuckled, wrapping an arm around his beloved.
“I appreciate it, my heart.”
LXC said softly into his ear.

As Jiang Cheng had told him, all his friends and close family came over in the afternoon for a celebration. It was truly wonderful, and Lan Xichen had a good time.
After the guests had left and they returned to bed the two of them talked.
“Did you like your birthday?”
Jiang Cheng asked him.
“Mn. I did. Although.. there was one thing that I would change.”
Xichen said.
“And.. what is that?”
Jiang Cheng asked, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
“I would've preferred to wake up next to you.”
Lan Xichen responded. He was met with an eye roll, but Jiang Cheng's cheeks were flushed.
“Sap..”
