Chapter Text

LUKE MELVIN

Man, it sure feels hotter than usual today. Weird. I'm Luke, most people usually call me that here at Camp Diamond, but the 'full name' is Luke Melvin, if any of you were curious.

You know, usually? I don't mind the heat, it's never that bad, but this particular summer camp session, this very…Dark? Brooding? Would it be offensive to call him 'emo'? Because he kind of looks like the definition of it. The thing is, I've noticed him just like, not participate at all, while most of my campers are happily doing whatever Ash, Trev, and I tell 'em to. Not to mention he's completely breaking the dress code with that dark clothing of his. Hopefully I can get him to come around to us soon, since he's in my cabin and all.

Camp Diamond is in Guntersville, Alabama. It's 2013. Usually the weather is like, perfect for summertime, but the high feels like…I don't know…Ninety, ninety-one? The sun must hate us today. How unfortunate for us that can't handle that kind of heat—No offense, Ashley. She burns easily, like, she looks like a fresh tomato by the end of camp if she doesn't use a jacket or sunscreen. Whose jacket does she use? Haha, mine, or Trevor, he's the type guy that has every kind of jacket, coat, sweater, known to man. He's definitely prepared for winter, that's for sure.

We're doing archery today. I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it. I can do a perfect shot almost every time…As long as Ash isn't looking. She makes me nervous. Not in a bad way, of course. My face gets all red looking at her, I can't help it.

For some reason, there's been this group of girls that just stand in a circle outside of the archery range. I don't know if they're gossiping or doing each other's hair or what, but camp's been open for a week now, and I'm tired of them not following instructions. Looks like I'll actually have to use my authority for once.

"Alright, let's try to get back to shooting those arrows, not detailing on the recent dramas. Emily, Melissa, Lexis, let's go-"

…Is that the emo kid in the middle of the circle?

Notes:

Sorry for like, the SHORTEST chapter in the history of AO3, I forgot most of what I was to do with this first chapter. Good news, the summaries I made for the other chapters are more detailed, therefore longer! Woohoo! ^_^
