The Story of the Wolf Who dares the Night

The cave was a cathedral of shadows. The damp air clung to the stone, heavy with the metallic tang of blood and the musky scent of wolves. A handful of torches struggled against the darkness, their flames bending under the draft that slipped through cracks in the rock.

At the center sat Reo Mikage, bound by thick ropes that dug into his pale wrists. The torches painted his skin in shades of rose and gold, gleaming against the purple of his hair. Despite his situation, his demeanor was that of a man inconvenienced rather than threatened. His posture was loose, elegant even, with one leg crossed over the other as if he were sitting in a drawing room rather than surrounded by werewolves.

The pack stirred around him. They were giants with muscles corded beneath rough hides, amber eyes burning with feral intensity. Their growls filled the air like a low drumbeat, the sound vibrating through the floor. Yet for all their menace, the vampire before them didn't flinch.

Reo sighed languidly, leaning his head back, his violet eyes half-lidded. "Tell me," he drawled, voice calm as silk, "which one of you thought kidnapping me would end well? I'm genuinely curious."

The so-called leader stepped forward, a towering brute of a wolf, and his scarred jaw twisted as he bared his teeth. His breath steamed in the cold air. "You don't belong with her," he growled. "The Icon of Fenrir is one of us, not some pampered leech's pet."

Reo's smirk faded slightly. "Ah. So that's what this is..." He shifted a little, the ropes creaking. "You must be very proud, then, worshiping someone you will never understand."

The wolf snarled and lunged forward half a step before holding himself in check. "You mock what you cannot understand. The Icon is no... She is the reincarnation of Fenrir himself. She carries the blood of the first wolf who devoured gods. She could crush you without a single gesture of her hand."

Reo chuckled softly, a low, musical sound that cut through the tension like a blade. "And yet," he said, "She hasn't. Perhaps you should ask yourselves why." The pack stirred uneasily. Some growled, some looked away. None dared to answer.

Reo let the silence stretch before continuing, "You see, that's where you are wrong. She isn't your Icon. She isn't even your Alpha." His violet eyes danced with something dangerous, something proud. "She is herself. And she chose me."

A cacophony of snarls shattered the tranquil air.

"Watch your mouth, Vamp," one spat. "You speak her name without honor!"

Reo's eyes sharpened slightly, the barest smile curling his lips. "You think I would ever dare to speak her true name here?" His voice fell conspiratorially low, almost intimate, despite the chains. "That's mine alone."

Confusion passed among the wolves, but before any could question him, the air shifted.

Outside, the wind was biting and cold, sweeping into the cave like a god's breath. The torches swayed frantically, casting shadows that writhed across the stone. And above the wind's howling came the deep, sonorous growl—neither earthly nor unearthly.

The wolves went rigid.

Reo glanced up, an expression of knowing bright in his eyes. "Ah," he said, almost fondly, "that would be her."

Outside came the crash and the sound of shattering stone. A guard was thrown through the entrance and landed in a heap of fur and blood.

A silhouette emerged, framed in the ragged opening, set against the crimson light of the Blood Red Moon.

Seishiro Nagi.

Silver-white hair shining in the moonlight cascaded over her shoulder like molten frost. Icy gray, with traces of silver, her eyes burned with cold fury. Every movement radiated power effortlessly and absolutely. The air around her crackled with energy. Each step she took could carry the weight of a legend.

Once, they had called her the odd Wolf, a wandering outcast who wanted nothing to do with the politics or pride of her kind. But that was before they had learned the truth of her bloodline. Before the packs had knelt and whispered her name like a prayer and a curse. Now she was the Icon of Fenrir, the living embodiment of destruction, a force her kin both worshipped and feared.

But still, in Reo's eyes, she had been Seishiro, the girl who had once found him lost in a forest under this same crimson moon.

The wolves hesitated in struggling reverence and terror. "N-Nagi," one stammered, voice quaking, "you shouldn't-"

She moved before he could finish.

In an instant, she crossed the cavern, her hand slapped against his chest, and hurled him into the far wall. The stone cracked. Another wolf lunged at her; she spun and kicked, crushing ribs as he crumpled into a heap.

Poetry and violence in equal measure, her movements were swift, precise, and terrifyingly beautiful. Each had the promise of ancient wrath. In moments, the cave lay still, with the only fallen debris scattered across the ground. One by one, the torches flickered out until only the blood moon's red spilled through the cave's jagged entrance.

Reo exhaled softly, admiration playing across his features. "You got dramatic," he teased, his tone more affectionate than sarcastic.

Her expression didn't change. "They used dead sage and wolfsbane to mask your scent," she said. "It slowed me for a minute. It was a hassle."

Then she crouched before him, and with a flick of her wrist, she ripped apart the ropes like cobwebs. As they fell, Reo's hands were free. Then, before he could rise, she scooped him up easily, unbothered with one arm beneath his knees, the other behind his shoulders.

Reo blinked, smirking up at her. “Really? I suppose this is the part where I swoon.”

Her lips twitched, the faintest ghost of a smile threatening to appear. “If you faint, I’ll drop you.”

He blinked and smirked. "You're really spoiling me tonight."

She did not answer. A faintly amused expression flickered over her face.

When they emerged into the open air, the blood-red moon spilled down upon them, staining her hair and his skin the same color. Neither spoke for several long moments. The night wind moved through the pines and brushed her silver hair, a god's hand caressing it.

"They called you the Icon of Fenrir," Reo finally said quietly. "The name suits you. They have make of you a legend."

Nagi's eyes flickered toward him. "Legends are cages," she said. "I'm not their god."

"No," Reo murmured, his voice low and reverent, "You're something far greater, Seishiro"

Her expression softened slightly, a glimmer of warmth hiding in those gray eyes. "You're the only one who still calls me Seishiro."

Reo smiled faintly. "Because no one else deserves to."

For a moment, the world held still. The red moon hung above them, casting its eerie glow over the clearing. The forest was silent except for the faint hum of magic in the air. Reo reached up; his fingers brushed her cheek—cool and soft under his touch.

"Seishiro," he said again, the name whispered like a secret prayer, "My treasure. My moonlight."

Her breath caught at that, the hardness of her gaze melting.

Their lips met soft, slow, and aching under the weight of everything unspoken. Not a kiss of hunger but recognition- two beings finding each other, drawn together again under the same blood-red sky. When she finally pulled back, Reo's trademark grin returned, lazy and tender. "So," he murmured, "are you going to carry me all the way back, or do I get to walk this time?"

Nagi's lips curved faintly; it was the closest thing to a smile anyone but him would ever witness. "If I let you walk, then you'll find another way to get into trouble."

Reo laughed. "Fair point."

She faced the forest, her hair shining like molten silver in the light of the moon. Together, they disappeared into the trees, the vampire and the wolf, the eternal and the unstoppable, as he whispered her name.

And under the crimson gaze of the Blood Red Moon, the world whispered again of the Icon of Fenrir, who walked beside a creature of night and defied every legend...

Notes:

I wrote this series last year. There is a lot more I would like to share to write about!!

Nagi found out she is the Icon or the Reincarnation of Fenrir. She gets popular very quickly. Then the werewolf community find out she is in a relationship a Vampire.
Which is an insult to werewolf-kind but they cannot fight Nagi since she is too strong...so they abducted Reo instead to persuade him leave Nagi.
