Repairs were one thing, a proper break was another.
Aside from the bustling units crowding the hangar, it was quiet for the most part. Supply runs had been going well among the Alliance which was more than enough for a brief intermission. Downtime was a precious thing, a time of recharge and replenishment for many. A promise too good to be true. Yet, there were times, occasional shimmers of respite that would make their appearance as so. Just as the miracle bestowed upon them had brought- A blessed streak on their hardened days. It was almost alarming, how much their luck had grown, especially with the constant tug and pull in the war. Nothing truly stayed in their favor, not for long at least from their experience. The Speaker Titan made sure to keep their pride in check, unlike a certain cocky bastard. They spent most of their break just as the smaller units did, their blasters discarded neatly to one side of the hangar, helmet tipped over their main optic as they laid upon one of their propped platforms. Systems idle as they sat on standby. Occasionally they'd look into their coms or check over their systems.
In all honesty, the Titan was bored.
Their frame was still running on the adrenaline of combat, aching to spring into action. The sight of a Skibidi felt more natural than the interiors of their base. Speaker wasn't sure what to make of the thought, so they discarded it, just as they did with every other foreign emotion.
A loud thud tore them out of their processors. Tertiary speakers perking upwards as they tipped their helm back into place. Slowly, the latches of their hangar would slide, the doors sliding open with a hiss, then a slow creak. Their main optic would flicker amidst the dull lighting, but it wasn't necessary. They knew who the revving jets belonged to. How could they not after all the time they've spent on the front lines together? The fact the Titan had managed to get to their doorsteps without them hearing first was more of a surprise. Usually, they'd catch their noisy comrade further away, but the ruckus of their men must've drowned it out. A few were already chirping from the catwalks in greeting. The Speaker Titan gave their salutations in the form of a small wave. However, the other's presence did spark their curiosity.
Anything important could've been sent over their shared coms so what prompted them to hull themselves over?
On cue, the Camera Titan trilled, supposedly at them so they gave a chirp of their own out of acknowledgement. Speaker moved, pushing off the platform to meet the other optic to optic. The harsh red beams from the overhanging lights outlining their bulky frame. They may be somewhat blind compared to their fellow Titans, but the smudges of dirt and other miscellaneous debris across their comrade's frame did not go unnoticed. They straightened, tilting their headpiece quizzically. Camera caught on as always, reaching into their pockets almost sheepishly. The rumble of their jets starting up again as their vocal module came to life.
'My apologies for the sudden intrusion.' they started, fumbling as they held their gaze, 'I've brought you something.'
Finally, the other's hand would reappear from the depths of their coat, clutched around something Speaker couldn't make of. They let out a beep, an early thanks as they turned their hand over. Whatever scrap the Camera Titan had managed to salvage personally seemed more fitting for their head engineer to take but they made no protests. Or so they thought as the other's hand opened. The Speaker Titan stood there, not quite sure what they were looking at. It took a few reboots before it finally registered.
It was.. a rock.
They warbled, confused for the most part which Camera seemed more than happy to elaborate on. Their jets fluttering open in what they picked up as pride. 'It reminded me of you.'
Now they weren't sure whether to be pleased or insulted, so they let out another beep. They'll let the other interpret it as they please.
It wasn't after a few more seconds of awkward optic-contact did they realize that the other Titan was holding the questionable sized pebble for them to take. Their hand outstretched with the rock in all its sedimentary glory. It'd be rude to leave them hanging so eventually, Speaker took the lovely gift. They rolled the peculiar thing in their palm to admire what they could. It wasn't very special, not at first glance at least. The texture was just as they expected it to be. A mixture of rough and smooth, albeit crumbly on the edges. It was somewhat reddish in color, more like a murky brown than anything but the shape did stand out, it was almost T-shaped. Almost. More like an L but with enough gaslighting anything was possible. They assumed the other thought likewise and the idea alone was enough to earn them a whir. A mechanical chuckle from their speakers that only fueled Camera's happy beam. Ridiculous as it was, Speaker couldn't find it in them to tease. The Camera Titan really was something, a damn idiot at times but for reasons beyond their processing, they didn't mind. An odd flutter passed their core- but it disappeared just as quickly as it came. Perhaps they were malfunctioning.
No matter, it'll sort itself out later. There were other matters to attend to, such as where they'll put the little thing.
