Chapter Text

As Makoto Naegi, an average guy walks in the  Hopes peak academy high school campus saying to himself “okay Naegi… it’s just the first day of high school… i’m sure nothing bad would happen! besides even if i embarrass myself it’s fineeee, that happens to everyone i’m sure…”

He then walks around the corridor to find class no.78. Naegi then finds a place to sit-

“HEY”

“AH- you startled me!”

”Hey it’s me! Maizono”

”Oh right it’s you, I didn’t think you might remember me since you’re so popular and-“

”hey don’t think like that! we’ve been friends when we were middle schoolers, of course i won’t forget you!”

”haha…. right”

“Anyways let’s go sit together over there”

Maizono points towards the two benches which  were vacant and ready to be sat on, right beside those two benches a girl with long whitish purple hair with a side braid tied with a black ribbon, her head lying on her hands with black gloves as she looked out the window.

Naegi nodded as Maizono sat on the third row, which meant that he had to sit on the second row which was between Maizono and the girl with gloves

Naegi had met many unique and talented classmates in his class and wondered to himself “am I any talented?”

there was a high school level swimmer, baseballer, fanfic writer, gambler etc. but was he any of those? no, because he was just an average highschool boy after all who just happens to win a lottery that’s all…..

Although Naegi was the type of person who would pay attention in classes often but something caught his eyes, her long and straight hair, a side braid tied with a black ribbon, she looked so-

“excuse me, do you need anything? you’ve been staring at me since morning” she said in a cold tone.

”oh um i was- uhhhh”

”then can you stop staring at me, it’s kind of disturbing my focus on the class”

”oh uh sorry about that!” 

She then turned her head back to the direction where the home room teacher was teaching.

Naegi then tried to ask her for her name, he had hesitated to ask, but then when he finally had the courage to, the bell rings.

”hey um-“ the bell rings

It’s was finally home time,

today was actually a pretty decent day although he embarrassed himself because he was staring at a random girl and then got caught, but that’s ok, it’s just the first day after all and everyone makes mistakes!

He thought to himself “who is she?, no wait…. why am i even thinking about her?, why was i staring at her?”

”is something bothering you Naegi?” said Maizono as they were walking in the corridors to their way to the exit so they can go home.

”Oh! u-um it’s nothing…” said Naegi as he walked.

”Okay then! I really need to hurry or else i’ll be late for my concert today….”

”i mean you can’t keep your fans waiting!”

As Naegi came home, it was already pretty late as he was walking pretty slow as he was thinking about her, surely asking for her name can’t be that bad! 

Chapter Text

Feeling a bit more unsure than usual because of the conversation he had with the girl with gloves and a side braid on the first day yesterday.

He again sits on the same place as yesterday, hoping to ask for her name. He didn’t know why he had the urge to talk to her but he still wanted to ask. Not that he had a crush on her or anything……… right?

The home room teacher then announced “Good morning my dear students, I shall now announce the project, i know it’s just the second day and all but i’m not the one who assigned this okay? ITS THE DAMN CURRICULUM” she said in an enthusiastic tone while trying to keep her anger aside since she has to grade them, right at the second day of school- 

”It will be based of the literature chapter which is about detectives and mysteries, so  I want you guys to make a power point presentation on how you might solve a problem, i will be making groups of two”

everyone then moaned and chattered among themselves as they have to work on the project, after all its the second day of school.

”i really hope it’s me and you!” said Maizono in a happy tone 

“yeah!” said Naegi 

But unfortunately that’s not what they got.

the teacher announced “Asahina Aoi with Ogami Sakura, Maizono Sayaka will be paired with Celestia Ludenburg…….”

”oh well I guess we didn’t get paired after all…..well that’s okay!” Naegi said to Maizono in a enthusiastic tone.

”Togami byakuya will be paired with Fukawa Toko…… and the last one is…….”

Naegi then felt some anxiety on who it is, after all he still doesn’t know anybody yet. he didn’t have the courage to talk to anyone since all his classmates have talents while Naegi is just….. an average guy, that’s all.

”Makoto Naegi will be paired with Kyoko Kirigiri. These are all your assigned partners and make sure to get along with them”
