Work Text:
“I’m not so sure about this.”
“It’ll be fine, baby. You have me to protect you just in case.”
“Are you sure?”
Copia scoffs, “It’s nothing but a bunch of scary movies. If you need to close your eyes then I can tell you when it’s okay to open.”
Erin heavy-sighs through her nose and finally sits down in bed. She stalls their evening plans as much as she can with getting comfortable against the pillows but the first movie easily slides into the VCR in their room; an expensive purchase for Copia but he felt like splurging after his promotion. This one comes with a remote!
He delights too hard at being able to control from the bed when they watch a movie.
“Ok, Erin. I’ve started with Halloween.”
“Because it’s tomorrow?”
He grins over to her. “Yup.”
“Cute.” Erin leans in to kiss his cheek.
She cozies up to him on his right and leans over to pick up a few pieces of their popcorn. Copia reaches out to rest his arm behind her. He leans in to press a kiss to the top of her head when the scarry opening with the jack-o-lantern already appears to scare her. The movie is paused, and he enjoys privately to himself for a second that he doesn’t have to get up to do it.
“We’re only at the opening credits, Erin.” He checks on her, looking down to find her eyes closed.
Erin shakes her head. “You know horror isn’t my thing! The music was very good at setting the mood.”
“Tell you what; If you can keep track of how often you really truly get frightened, I’ll make it up to you with a kiss for each one.” Copia eyes her.
“Even if it’s a lot?”
He sighs dramatically and leans his head back. “It is a cross I will have to bear.”
“Ok, fine.”
Copia closes his eyes and whispers “Yes” while pumping his left fist. Erin watches, amused at the celebration. She rolls her eyes and calls him a dork under her breath. He seems to notice and scoffs at the name.
“I’m a dork? Need I remind you that it’s you that has seen A New Hope enough times you can quote it line by line.”
Erin lets out a sharp, shocked noise. “I-“
“And do I also have to mention the self-taped copies of Cosmos? Including having all of Carl Sagan’s books!”
“Hey-“
“Or that your current job basically involves going on and on about space?”
“Ok, I see your point,” she grumbles.
Copia smiles fondly down at her. “Face it, sweetheart. You are probably an even bigger nerd than I am.” He kisses her forehead. “So sue me for enjoying the idea that I’ll get to kiss my girlfriend – in your estimate – a lot at the end of the movie.”
He’s got her there, Erin has to admit.
Begrudgingly.
“Just play the movie, my older dorky rockstar.”
“I will, my beautiful space nerd.”
And he does.
As the movie unfolds, Erin isn’t not entertained. The story is interesting and some moments manage not to faze her. However, certain jump scares have her turning quickly to hide her face into Copia. He rubs his hand over her back to soothe her worries and as the movie ends with an ominous shot of Michael Myers, she breathes a sigh of relief as the credit roll.
Copia leans down to kiss the top of Erin’s head, soft and sweet. “So, how many did you count?”
“Oh. Uh, I think I lost track.”
“That was your only job!”
She blushes. “Ok, I admit, the story was interesting. But if I had to pick a number, I think I was really, genuinely scared… seven times?”
“Only seven? Are you sure there wasn’t more?”
“Only…?” she trails once Copia starts subtly urging her to move herself to straddle over his lap. “Oh! Did you want more?”
A curious rise of Copia’s eyebrow has Erin wanting to roll her eyes. He holds onto her waist for a few seconds before rising his hands to cup her cheeks.
“Eh… I can work with seven. Count them out for me, baby.”
The first kiss he gives is to the tip of Erin’s nose. Her blush comes back as she mumbles, “One.”
The next two are pressed softly to her cheeks. One to the left and one to the right.
“Two, three.”
Copia tilts her head towards him for his lips to tenderly grace her forehead.
“Four.” Erin’s cheeks tinge a darker read.
“You’re fantastic at counting, Erin. If you ever need a new job, you can come work for me as an accountant. I can give you a desk in my office.” He sends her a saucy wink. “You won’t have to sit with those bores.”
Copia’s lips travel down and he sinks his face into the side of her neck to place one before dragging himself over to the other side. He leaves a series of nibbles to her skin as an extra little gift, rubbing his nose into her quickening pulse.
“Five and six,” Erin sighs, whispering the numbers.
The last, naturally, ends on her lips. He’s slow and gentle, letting Erin finally melt into him with a mumble of “seven”. She leans in and wraps her arms tight around him; they sink deeper into his pillows for a soft moment of short, rapid kisses and she ends up on her back as he rolls them over with a huff.
“Ready for more?” Copia murmurs into her neck.
A dreamy sigh and a nod are the only things Erin can do. “Mhm.” She waits for him to take things further but he’s pulling away to leave the bed. Confusion washes onto her face when Copia rewinds the tape and picks up another one.
“Perfect. I have the sequel, too!”
