Chapter 1: The Creation

Chapter Text

In the beginning, things were empty - the world was empty. There were no houses, no towers where friends would gather and prepare for war. The world was a blank canvas of rivers and trees waiting to be touched by mankind.

Above this great new world, DreamXD sat, watching. He was from a foreign world, a world of gods. This new, foreign world was one of his own creations. He was a divine architect who was worshipped by civilization. He had chosen each and every aspect of this new world. He had selected each block, each biome, everything. He carved out deep valleys and ravines, shaped rivers and mountains, and now – his world was ready. He would not be residing there though, that was below him – besides he already had a home. Instead, he had designed this world for his human counterpart, his friend, Dream – the first, chosen mortal who would walk this world.

Dream entered the world as soon as it was ready, looking around in awe. The grass below his feet was a brilliant green, one that mirrored his own skin. The sun hung in the sky, a bright light and the air hummed a tune as it sailed by seeming to whisper that this was just the beginning. Dream marveled at the world, slowly taking it in as he invited his first companion, George, to join him.

Mere moments after Dream had taken out his communicator and messaged George, he appeared his clout goggles taking up too much of his face and his blue shirt reflecting the lighting of the sky. Together, the two looked at each other and laughed at the emptiness of the world. This was theirs, their sweet delight. There was much to be done, houses needed to be built, and the land around them needed to be explored. With this thought in mind, the two began to grab materials, a collection of wood and stone that they transformed into tools which gleamed in the sunlight.

“Y’know,” George suggested as he began to roast food over flickering fire, “We should beat the game.”

Dream tilted his head at George’s comment. “Eventually,” he remarked, “But for now, let’s just enjoy the journey. Maybe we’ll finally build a house. We haven’t done that yet.”

George adjusted his shirt as he took the food of the fire, placing it into his inventory, considering Dream’s response. “Fine,” he said before grinning. “But, I’m going to find diamonds first.”

Dream merely smirked at this comment. Sure, he thought, sure George would. And so the two set off, working in rhythm together, mining cobblestone before discovering a few specs of iron near a lava pool. When George suggested they head to the Nether, Dream couldn’t help but hesitate. “We’re not speedruning, George,” he replied. “We can explore. There’s no rush.” Still, curiosity ate at him and eventually, it got the best of both of them. And so, as dawn rose on their first night, the two collected flint, combining it with their iron to make a flint and steel.

This tool allowed them to strike the Nether portal. With a roar, it lit up – violent, violet flames swirling, yanking the two into another unknown world. George, never one to be left out, stepped through first, dragging Dream with him.

This world was different from the other one – the overworld. This world was full of fire, a combination of lava, red netherrack, and shimmering blocks. Dream couldn’t help but gasp at this world, pointing at one of the golden, glittering blocks. “Look! There’s gold here now!”

George’s eyes widened as he joked to Dream, “We’re rich already!”

Together the two mined golden nuggets and blocks, exploring the wasteland. They found a collection of strange yet interesting materials and eventually, after a while of towering above lava filled seas, a bastion appeared – a dark, ancient ruin filled with treasure and piglin brutes.

“Let’s go inside,” George said eagerly.

Dream hesitated. “We’re not ready. We need more materials.”

But it was too late – George was already climbing, he had started as soon as Dream began talking. Dream sighed, he knew this wouldn’t end well but he couldn’t let George go alone and so he followed. Inside, the two found and gathered gold, fought off brutes, and laughed as they were continuously killed only to respawn again, going back to keep looting. Each death told a story and served as a reason for the two to come together and rebuild their army of materials.

Eventually, after dying a few too many times, Dream turned to George suggesting that maybe – just maybe – they should take a break from the bastion, staying in the overworld to get armor so they could come back stronger. George nodded along to this idea as the two descended into the caves of the overworld, mining a combination of iron and coal, splitting their resources before crafting a set of armor for each of them – a helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots.

When they returned to the Nether, they conquered the bastion at last, emerging with a full inventory and full hearts. These materials were enough for the two to decide it was time to expand their world, inviting their friend Sapnap to join them. Sapnap joined loud, competitive, and full of energy, working with the two to begin to create a home in the center of a huge lake that they overtook with blocks to construct farms and forests. The three worked together in harmony, laughing, arguing, and hunting together.

It was not long after the three started to build their first house that they got their first pets. George was the first one to do so, finding a fish swimming in their lake which he named Beckerson. Sapnap soon followed George in this new mission, catching his own fish, Mars. And lastly, Dream, never one to be left out – especially amongst his friends, tamed a horse that he called Spirit.

With their world growing, the three invited more friends – Callahan being the next one who helped them finish their great house, the first true building on the server that they called the Community House. Together, the four completed the work that Dream and George had started with Sapnap, adding the last few touches block by block until they had a great new home, a symbol of unity and collaboration.

Soon, others came too: Ponk, Sam BadBoyHalo, and Alyssa. The once-empty world began to light up, filled with laughter and life.

What began as a simple server had become a community – a story of gods, mortals, and friends. And though they did not know it yet, this was only the beginning of the legend that would become the Dream SMP.
