Work Text:

Buck rushed to the bathroom, already taking off his t-shirt. He had to get rid of his pants as well; the smell of alcohol on clothes wasn't particularly sexy. Luckily his underwear didn't get damaged. He dampened a clean towel with warm water and, just to be sure, quickly washed his belly and thighs.

As he considered running upstairs to his bedroom to find something to change into, his eyes fell on a piece of clothing hanging between the towels. A sly smile stretched his lips as he put on his sleeping attire from last night without a second thought.

Hearing Buck's footsteps, Eddie leaned over to the table, trading the bottle of beer for the remote to unpause the movie. As he glanced at Buck he immediately did a double take. He looked dazed; mouth open and eyes fixed on Buck, following his every move.

Buck preened as he walked right in front of Eddie, heading for his spot on the couch. But he never made it there, stopped by a hand on his wrist.

“Isn't that… my shirt?” The words came out slow and heavy, as if Eddie had just remembered how to use his tongue.

“You want it back?” Buck watched in delight as Eddie's fist clenched on the crookedly buttoned flannel at the level of his belly, “Is it your favorite or something?”

“It is now.”

Eddie’s eyes darkened. He leaned back, pulling at the fabric, and Buck accepted the invitation.

“Too bad…” he smiled cheekily, straddling his lap, “...it’s my favorite too.”

It was meant to be a tease but the truth was loud in Buck’s voice. He loved that shirt. The material was soft and warm, black and red as wild poppies, and saturated with Eddie's scent. Buck wouldn't trade it for any other.

The thought made his mind drift to the few times he'd worn another guy's shirt—it had always been the morning after, a way to guarantee one more round before they parted ways. But never before he'd been given a shirt to protect him from the cold. And he'd never slept in one. With the exception of socks (which Buck only wore to bed when he was alone, the comments he’d gotten made him too self-conscious), Buck preferred to sleep the way God had created him. However, he couldn't resist wrapping himself in Eddie's scent, vicariously having him in his own bed all night.

Yeah, without a doubt, it was his favorite shirt.
