    Being the villain is hard, especially when you don't even notice yourself fall. It is so easy for Dream to justify his decisions, his actions, and all the consequences of them- until he can't run from the things he's done anymore. Until the people he's hurt decide to hurt him back. Until Dream realizes they might be right.

    Maybe he really is hopeless. He's not but... sometimes people need the time to realize that.

    Dream gets turned on and becomes enemy number one earlier than in canon, runs off after getting hunted, and becomes his true Disney princess self while believing the people he left behind are better off without him. They're not, an imposter has took his place and is wrecking house. Then he starts getting visits and, somehow, they don't recognize him.

    TLDR: I'm rewriting my first dsmp fanfic (The Prices Paid For Shattered Bonds) and that means the romance will *actually exist* in this one.
