Chapter 1: Greetings

Chapter Text

A layout of the apartment, with a table and couch adjacent to a tv. The kitchen is right beside the tv.

Ever since the holidays rolled around, the Crème Republic went frantic. So many merchants and sounds and crowds that it's hard to enjoy it.
The Republic is a place that is beautiful when the holidays roll around, but you can only guess the other kingdoms caught wind of such since the war died down..

As of late, all you've been doing is staying at home, as you're an artist, there's no reason to leave home anyway.
With that being said, you've been working constantly, and that might've been caught downwind by a certain acquaintance of yours..

Larkspur Cookie knocked on y/n's door and smiled as it was opened. "Why hello there." He fixed his ruffled hair.
"How long have you been here, you look exhausted..?" His face flashed between few emotions before landing on worry.
"I've been working, what is it you need?"
Larkspur chuckled, "Such a nice way to greet your friend." He held out a hand, "Why don't you come with me?"
Y/n's brow furrowed curiously, "Come...where..?"
"To my house for some rest.."
Y/n crossed his/her/their arms, "Are you suggesting I sleep?"
"Of course, I can make you some tea or such and you can at least relax on my couch. I'll get my blankets and some calming music." He smiled, "It'll be nice, I promise. A once in a lifetime experience."
Y/n was silent for a few moments before sighing. "... Alright... fine. But I want it known that I'm not enjoying this. At all. Understand?"
"That's okay." He chuckled and picked y/n up, like he/she/they weighed nothing.

"Wrap your arms around my neck, don't choke me out though." He chuckled nervously.

Despite his words, y/n felt his/her/their heartbeat speed up at the contact. It was a nice feeling. Y/n wrapped their arms around his neck and sighed. "Fine. This is fine." Y/n lied to themself.

Larkspur seemed to purr as he made his way towards his apartment and opened the door.
For being a small place, it was decorated beautifully and it had quite dim lights.

Larkspur placed y/n on the couch carefully and walked over to a counter that separated the kitchen and dining room from the living room, picking up a round pair of glasses and putting them on his nose ridge.

"What's your favorite drink?" He asked as he took off his corduroy coat and hung it on the wall.

Y/n shrugged, "I don't have any specifics but I guess I like [favorite drink]..."

"Alright then." He chuckled and put his hair up, reaching into his fridge for the drink.

After a small bit he came over, handed y/n the chocolate milk, and walked to a side table where a record player lay.

He put down a disc and turned it on as it played some low Christmas music. "Much better than working constantly, right?"

Y/n shrugged again, "It's decent." You joked.

He chuckled and sat next to you, staring at a painting of a kelp cat on the wall in front of them, just across the rug floor and the coffee table.
He snapped back and leaned over the side of the couch and pulled up a yellow blanket, placing it over y/n quietly.

Y/n smiled and rested against his side.

Larkspur raised a brow and rested his hands back into his lap. "Sleep if you need."

"Thank you.." y/n mumbled, it was nice having just yourself and a comforting presence...
