Tangled Mess

Summary:

I need to see more Burningcacao people chop chop...

Notes:

This is a story on Spice not being able to comb out his hair and Cacao is sick but ready to help him. If you can tell there is slight Carmeltiger (I made that up) in there...like if you squint.

Work Text:

Burning spice pov:

I am the great beast of destruction. I am the one who can kill off 1 million cookies in a second. I am the one who can’t brush my own hair?! At this point I’ll destroy my own hair too…THIS CAN NOT BE HAPPENING RIGHT NOW! I look at myself in the mirror with multiple types of combs and brushes in my hair, everything looks tangled, and I am annoyed. This is ridiculous.

How do I manage to do this? I can’t ask for help…even if I did, who would help me? All cookies fear me! I’m glad about that but now isn’t the time! I can’t help but growl in anger. I can’t trust Shadow Milk. He'll probably plant a trick on me and make my hair more tremendous than before, Mystic Flour will say definitely no, Eternal sugar will fall asleep mid brush, and Silent Salt is still stuck in that damn tree! Who…who… I gasp loudly.

Tiger Nutmeg pov:

I’m on patrol…well I was. Until I saw my lord run at me. No battle axe, no menacing war smile on his face. Just him. Arms wide open looking like he needed a hug and a boat load of combs and brushes in his hair. I told him to brush it sooner. “NUTMEG!” He cried? I never ever heard him cry before. He hugged me and we quickly ran back into the spice dome.

“Nutmeg, you gotta help me..I don’t know what to do! You comb out your fur and hair daily, right?” He questioned me. “Of course I do…” I responded. “Then you can help me right!?” He beamed. “Sir...I” I began. How could I help him? In his condition he would need a bunch of water, and I’m not getting wet unless we are in a war. To be honest this is a war between him and his hair. “I’m sorry sir.. I just can’t…” I heard him growl. I stiffen up preparing for him to try to attack me. No, he drops to the floor in defeat. He just sat there criss cross applesauce.

I can’t let my lord down like this. It honestly looked painful and it would become worse if I didn’t help. Well he might not like it but we have to get to the obvious option. “Maybe we can cu-” “No. Never dare to tell me to cut my hair ever again.” He said, his tone sounded serious. “Well the best I can do is get you help. Anyone would you recommend?” I asked, crouching down in front of my lord. “I don’t know! Just go get someone with long hair and that has hair problems like mine!” He yelled. Well not many people have hair issues like him…and they actually know to take care of it. But I know who might be able to help, he won’t like it, if he doesn’t that's his last chance to get good enough hair.

Dark Cacao cookie pov:

I sigh deeply looking out the window in my room. I see my warriors training just in case the stupid licorice sea comes out of nowhere. I see them mess up on some battle tactics, I wish I wasn’t sick. I would be commanding them properly but now I'm stuck in my room. The maids demanded that I sit back and lay in bed. I’m their king, they can’t demand me! Well…that's what I thought… Anything to get out of this stuffy room and get some fresh air!

My wish has been granted with a Tiger Nutmeg cookie entering through the window. “Train your guards better, they didn’t even know I snuck in here! Not that I need them to be that way.” She hissed. “What do you need?” I ask. Even though I don’t have my sword and I’m sick, I can still fight! Not that I need to. Me and Nutmeg somehow on the battlefield got this weird twisted connection. “My lord…” She began her voice lowering. Burning Spice cookie? Why on earth would she come over here for him? To pick a fight? “He needs your help…” She said quietly. I blink at her twice, eying her up and down before chuckling. “What type of failed prank is this?” I laugh. “I’m being serious!” hissed the tiger.

“Fine, fine take me to him.” I sighed, after laughing so hard. I was on her back as she jumped from pillar to pillar in my kingdom. Snuck in and snuck out the same way. I really need to upgrade my security. “You know…” She began. Her tail wagged in excitement. “This can start some good bonding.” I hate her. Why did I ever say that? Especially to her! Yes me, Dark Cacao cookie in love with my friend's enemy. I tried really hard, I did! I just don’t know why I like him. It's confusing. I gruff at her stupid comment looking away from her.

Burning spice pov:

I hear fast thumps on the ground. Finally she came back with my savior! I open the door slightly. Long black hair with white streaks in it…no. Dark chocolate skin. No. Purple pretty eyes. No. DARK CACAO COOKIE? NO! I sigh in pain. I wanted to let out a sob. Anyone but him! Well not literally but why him? I mean I understand, his hair is so long it touches the floor. Wow…look at it’s so long flowing in the wind. WHAT AM I THINKING ABOUT?! Before I could catch up to my thoughts they were at the door.

“My lord…” She said, bowing her head looking back at Dark Cacao. Cacao looked up at me. His eyes were normal but I could tell he had slight fear in him. I would be scared of myself too, especially with all this stuff in my hair. “I’ll try to help the best I can.” He muttered. I sighed deeply questioning if I should allow this. “Whatever, just get this over with.” I groan, pinching the bridge of my nose. “Is there a place where we can get to work?” He asked. I picked him up and placed him on my shoulder. He gasped but he just sat there quietly.

My big and spacious bathroom played off in the end. I wanted to destroy this place years ago, glad I didn’t. Cacao seemed to like it, he was in awe. It was just a bathroom. He turned on the faucet and red water came out. He looked at it in disgust. “Is it dirty” he questioned? “No. Our water is just filled with seasoning.” I stated proud of myself. He groaned at my positivity.

Dark Cacao pov:

Does he not know that this won’t work? Whatever is in that water might make his hair sticky or even worse matted! “We need clean water…” I said softly. He looked at me then stared out into deep space like he’s trying to solve a math problem. “So…I’m going to stay stuck like this forever…?” he muttered. “No!” I stammer. “We just need to filter your water.”

Next thing I know we have soldiers pouring water into a hugemongus tub. Towels covering the bucket filtering out the water. The tub looks as big as a water fountain. They aren’t fully done filtering so we should…attempt to comb out his hair. It was hard to pull his hair into four parts, but after some screams of pain we managed to get through. I started to comb at the ends of his hair. His hair is amazing, well amazingly long. Obviously it's not well taken care of or else I wouldn’t be here. It took us two hours to comb through. Well it was really gonna be an hour and fifty minutes but he decided to take a snack break that took ten minutes.

He made us sandwiches and chips. It wasn’t your ordinary sandwiches and chips though. They were filled with flavor. The chips were salty but at the same time not too salty. The way they were created would make Lays jealous. The ham I’m guessing was spicy. He said that the package it came in was mild but that it didn't taste mild. I decided to bear the spice. It’s my fault that my spice intolerance is so low.

Burning Spice pov:

Cute…what am I thinking about? This is my enemy's friend! He’s everything but cute! He’s only here to try to help me out with my hair. That’s it! No lovey dovey thing to add on to it. I hear his little sniffles. “Are you crying?” I ask him. “No,” he said. His mouth is full of food so his cheeks are kinda puffed out. He looks so cute. “It's just a little bit spicy, that's all.” He takes one final bite before moving the plate off of his lap. “We should go check if the water is filtered.” He says. He grabs ahold of my arm. Thank the witches I’m a clayish-red. I feel my cheeks heat up. This might be a trap. I just hate that I’m falling into it.

I led him back towards the bathroom. The water…Is there any water? “Where did all the water go?” I asked. He chuckled. STOP THAT! The more I’m around him the hotter my face gets! “The water isn’t gone. It's just clear now.” He said calmly. Before putting his hand in the water. I try to put my hand in it. It feels funny. I guess I’m not used to filtered water. I take my hand out and look at it. I lick my hand and smack my lips. “How does it taste?” He asked. He smiled at me, more like a smirk. That damn smirk.

I need to get a hold of myself. I can’t lose this battle, never have, never will. Especially to an ancient. But oh does he have his way of winning. He does make my heart flutter in ways it shouldn’t. Why do I feel like I’m laying down? Oh yea he’s washing my hair. I can’t believe I feel this way especially over hair! This is so stupid.

Dark Cacao pov:

His hair is soft. I know this shouldn’t be something I am alarmed or surprised about but it's so random. Must be because he's the great destroyer. I wonder…I couldn’t stop myself. I sniffed his hair and it smelled like cinnamon.

“Did you just sniff my hair?” He questioned. He released a low growl. I can’t believe this is how I’m going to die. “I don’t mind…” He whispered. His voice is too gentle. I don’t understand why it is though. “Just continue working.” He sighed. I guess I’m doing a good job. I stand up slowly, my legs slightly wobble from sitting down for too long. I grab a comb nearby but I face another problem. I can’t get in the tub. I have pants that can’t even rise above my ankles and a peace sign shirt Carmel Arrow cookie brought me for Christmas. “Uh…” I groan. How am I supposed to do this?

“Whats wrong?” He questioned. He slowly sat up, all the water is going come rushing down onto the floor if he fully sits up. “Wait!” He stopped and leaned back into the water. “Can someone you know like one of your soldiers go in the water?” I asked shyly. He turned his head to look at me. “Why?” “I can’t go in because of my pants. I don’t want to get them wet.” I said. He looked puzzled I guess he was thinking who to bring. “GUARDS!” He yelled, his arms crossed. Multiple of them rushed in weapons in hand. “Take him to closet and give him some clothes to change into.” They all nodded in unison. I felt his hand on my waist gesturing to me to follow them. I can’t help but blush at his gesture.

Burning Spice pov:

Holy crap he’s cute. That shirt is way too big for him. The way he’s trying to hold it up. I think I’m staring too much. He looked at me and looked away even quicker. His cheeks are puffed out and a little red. “Shall we continue.” I ask, looking away. “Yes.” He said softly. He got into the tub of water slowly gliding with the comb in his hand. He started at the root and slowly combed up. It took him 30 minutes. I wanted to ask him to work faster but I let him do his own thing. He took his time out from whatever he was doing for me. Why would I think about that?! I felt my face getting hot. Thank goodness his little sniffles stopped me from getting redder than I already am.

“What’s wrong?” I questioned. “N-Nothing.” He replied. I guess he got cold and shivered leading to his stuttering. Then he sneezed. Then two, and then two more. “Something is wrong.” I growled. “I-” “Tell me.” I hate being lied to. “I came here sick. The water is kinda cold and it's making it worse.” He mumbled I heard how stuffy his nose was. “How did I not hear it before?” I questioned myself. “It was so hot outside I thought I sweated it out.” He answered. “Do you need a break?” I questioned. “No, let's just knock this out.” He said. He was almost done with my hair. “Soon we’ll blow dry it.” He said. I feel him massaging my scalp. His hands are much softer than I expected. They are still rough but maybe it's just a me thing.

I stood up after laying down for so long. I hear my back crack. Ugh that doesn’t sound good I’ll get it checked out later. I walk over to the big mirror and look at myself. My hair looks so long and straight. Ugh I’m not used to this yet. I see him bend down to get the hair dryer that was on the flo- MY GOODNESS! IT'S HUGE! I look away quickly, I must not get distracted by the enemy!

Dark Cacao pov:

I grab and plug up his blow dryer that was on the floor. Then I grabbed the comb and walked over to him. “Are you ready?” I questioned him. His dough looked redder than it already was. I wonder why. He nods and I get to work.

I use the same 4 parts and from bottom to top process. I really hope I’m doing well and not hurting him. It seems like it's all going smoothly but then a lump. It's just a big clump of hair smashed together. How did this happen, I believe I combed it out throughly. “This might hurt.” I mumble softly. “Bring it I believe I can handle a couple of hair strands fighting back. It's nothing compared to my battle scars.” He slightly lifted up his back to reveal a few scars on his back. “What happened here?” I rub his sides gently. “Thats Herald’s arms.” He growled. “Who-” “JUST GET BACK TO WORK.” He growled at me. I try to quickly get back to work. “S-Sorry.” I shutter in fear.

I’m a king. I should let him talk to me this way. I can’t believe I let my guard down like this. He's still a beast! But why do I feel pain in my chest? It can't be because he yelled at me. He yells at everyone. It's because of the mentions of his past. I must’ve made him uncomfortable when I mentioned it. Why did I ask him about this?

Burning Spice pov:

I didn’t mean to yell at him like he looks hurt now. Well it's his fault that he asked! “Hey you’ve been brushing the same spot for at least a minute or two.” I mumble. “Ah- Um it so it's fully combed through.” It seems like I stopped his thought process. I don’t think my words affected him right? Well they most likely did but it couldn’t be that bad!

He moves to the front me to comb out my front. Observing his face he looks upset. The way some of his hair comes in front of his face. His purple eyes looked similar to a puppy’s. Dear witches, he's cute, I can’t fumble a baddie like this! “Listen, I didn't mean to burst out like that…” I begin. I choke on my words. It feels funny to say this. “I’m sorry.” I mumble. He seemed to relax at my apology. “It's ok I shouldn’t be so shaken by your words.”

I should be upset that he doesn’t really fear me but I’m not. Instead I feel happy. It's not like my regular destruction happy though. It’s…I don’t know what it is but it feels nice. Ugh, what am I talking about? I feel disgusted about feeling gitty. I hope it isn’t obvious that I feel like this. My dough is hotter than it is already. I need to get away from this feeling.

Dark Cacao pov:

I get done combing his hair. It looks like mine just with out the white streaks. I chuckle at him. “Whats so funny?” He asked nervously, “Nothing.” I tell him, smiling slightly. “We’re done!” I say happily cracking my knuckles and stretching. I feel good, great actually. I just combed out a whole beast hair. I know his hair is longer than mine so Carmel Arrow Cookie has no reason to be upset about combing my hair!

I suddenly feel sad. Is it because my hands hurt? Maybe it's because I wish I had longer hair? It could also be because-...oh. I know what's the problem. My heart is beating heavily because…because now that I’m done I’m leaving him. If anything the next time I’ll see him is during a random meet up that Pure Vanilla created that will end up in arguments and threats of war.

I don’t want to meet up with him like that. I want to see how he is now. More calmer, less aggressive, and a lot more handsome. Well during the war he was hot too, but this is very different. That menacing war smile that is always there in the battle. It's gone and replaced with a soft relaxed smile. A smile you would never expect from a cookie like Burning Spice. He’s turning to look at me. HE’S TURNING TO LOOK AT ME. I rub my face to get rid of the blush.

Burning Spice pov:

I turn to look at Cacao. I see him wiping his face, maybe some water got on it. I look back at myself in the mirror. It looks longer than before. Ew it's touching the floor. I scoop up my hair and comb it out with my hands a little. It looks like he did a good job. “Thanks.” I say smiling softly. Why am I smiling? I’m smiling over a cookie combing out my hair! This is ridiculous, puposturious! I would never- “I suppose I’ll be on my way now.” He said softly. Wait what?! Not now, not when I’m this close!

“WAIT!” I blurted out without even thinking. He jumped in surprise and turned around quickly. “Huh?” He gasped sharply as I grabbed his arm. “Don’t l-leave yet!” I stutter out accidentally. Anything to get him to stay a little longer. “Can you braid my hair?” I questioned him. “As you can tell I don’t really comb out my hair a lot.” I mumble. He looked at me confused. Yes, I know I have Tiger Nutmeg to braid my hair, but he gotta understand!

“Ok?” He said. I picked him up by his waist and set him down on my shoulder. I feel him comb out my hair with his hands. Now that I’m looking at it he seems really small. I can’t believe a tiny cookie like him has all that fire within him. He’s an amazing battle opponent on the battlefield. He’s just an amazing cookie overall. I can’t help but feel weird. If this is what they call love, I think I’m falling in love.

Dark Cacao pov:

He seems desperate for me to do this. I don’t mind, I mean I get to stay with him longer. I sigh and look away. Should I really stay, what if this is a bluff? I hope I don’t fall for him even harder. “I’ll stay.” I say to myself smiling. He thinks I don’t know but I know he’s happy about me staying.

I rested my head on his head. He felt so warm. I sigh and nuzzle into his hair. He’s so warm. I feel like no matter how sick I am he’ll somehow make me feel better. He settles me down on the couch where I combed out his hair before. Now I get to braid it! I don’t know about him but this will be very fun for me.

He gave me a comb so I can start braiding. I combed through carefully. Although, not to brag, I did comb it out greatly. I’m just combing it out slowly to spend more time with him. I hope he doesn’t notice. I began to separate his hair into 3 big strands because of how long his hair was. I slowly began to braid. I sighed in comfort. This is really peaceful and relaxing. I really hope he feels the same way. I wouldn’t want him to be stressed out or anything.

Burning Spice pov:

I’M STRESSING OUT! HOW IS HE SO CALM WHILE DOING THIS? I feel my cheeks on fire. I don’t know if I’ll be able to control myself anymore. I really, really want to cuddle him. He would be so cold against my skin. But in a good way. He will cool me down when I’m too hot. He’s like the moon to my sun. I sound so corny right now.

“My lord?” a soft voice said. Tiger Nutmeg came from the hallway leading into the room. Out of all the times she decides to come in here now? Yes I love Nutmeg’s company, but not right now! Especially while I’m with Cacao. Isn’t this supposed to be our little moment right now? To make it even worse my face still feels hot! This is no good.

“My lord are you alright?” She smiled and began walking over. Oh no. I know that smirk more than everyone. That damn teasing smirk. She knows me and she knows that my face looks redder than before. Before I could say anything, Cacao dropped down to my side, my hair still in hand. I look at Nutmeg quickly to hide my blush. “I’m fine. Is there anything you need?” I question her. “No just checking in on you guys.” CURSE YOU NUTMEG.
Tiger Nutmeg pov:

Way to go to Cacao. Why am I cheering my semi bestie on? He’s slowly making my leader fall for him. Don’t know how or when but one day one is going to confess to the other. I just know it. I chuckle to myself silently looking at Dark Cacao. He glares back his cheeks a little bit red. He lifts an eyebrow. I shake my head in dismissal of his worries.

I sit on the couch, my legs going into a loafing position. “I didn’t know you could do that.” Cacao said, confused. “Tiger is still a part of the cat family.” I say sighing. “You look like a loaf of bread that was created by lava.” He snickers. “And you look like a chocolate bar.” I giggle. He laughs at my silly joke. We kept snapping silly jokes at each other. My lord wasn’t paying attention to our jokes. It seems like he was in outer space. Well until I said something about his chilli.

“It's really good.” I told Cacao who seemed very interested. “Is it very spicy?” he questioned me. “It really depends on his mood.” I replied. “I could make you some if you like?” My lord said quickly. It sounded like he didn’t even have time to think about it. “If I ever find the time to make some, that is.” He replied nonchalantly. Yea right, if Cacao asked him to do something he’ll do it in a heartbeat. So will Cacao if my lord asked him. “Yes please. If you ever find time to make some, send it to me please?” Cacao said softly, gazing up at my lord. They both looked at each other. I cough to break up their love staring contest.

Once done braiding his hair fully Cacao, Spice, and Nutmeg talked for a while. It wasn’t long before a few guards came rushing in. “MY LORD, WARRIORS ARE PLANNING TO ATTACK US!” the guard yelled. “Who dares come here?” Spice growled standing up. His battle axe flying into his hand. Suddenly Carmel Arrow Cookie walked in surprisingly calm. “My king!” Carmel shuffled over to Cacao hugging him. “I really hope you didn’t start a war over my disappearance…” The king said quietly, patting Carmel’s back. “Almost did…” She said softly before saying hi to Spice and Nutmeg.

“The whole kingdom is stressed. Especially the maids.” She smiled. “Oh no…” Cacao whined. “Shall we leave?” Carmel questioned. Dark Cacao looked back at Burning Spice. Spice gave him a small approving smile and nodded. “Thanks…for helping me out.” Spice said softly. “You’re welcome.” Cacao said smiling, turning to walk away with Carmel.

Carmel Arrow cookie, Dark Cacao cookie, and the other cookies walked away from the spice kingdom. When right outside the walls Cacao’s face slowly crept into a smile. “HEY CACAO!” Spice yelled from behind the walls. “THIS DOESN’T MEAN I'M GOING EASY ON YOU IN BATTLE!” Spice yelled, kissing his braided hair. Cacao had a huge blush on his face. Thanks to the distance between the two, Spice couldn’t see the blush. “WOULDN’T DREAM OF IT” Cacao yelled back smiling. He turned back around walking with his warriors. His smile never fell. He knew he found the one.

Extra:

“You love him don’t you?” Nutmeg asked Spice. “In your dreams.” Spice replied looking away. Nutmeg raised an eyebrow at him. “HES REALLY NICE FOR A COLD KING. PEOPLE OVERESTIMATE HIM. HE'S NICE, HE’S PRETTY, AND HE HAS A REALLY BIG A-” Spice yelled before Nutmeg cut him off. “I think that's all I really need to know.” She hissed. “Good call..What about that Carmel girl?” He questioned the tiger who got flustered and looked away quickly. “OOOO!” “SHUT UP!”

“Was the date good?” Carmel asked Cacao. Cacao, who was caught off guard, began to stutter. “I-I-I…We…CARMEL!” Cacao hissed in anger. She giggled and sipped her boba. “W-Well that is not saving you from how you looked at Nutmeg!” Cacao said smiling. Carmel Arrow cookie almost spat out her drink. “H-HEY!” She stuttered. Cacao laughed at her surprised gesture. They all are gonna have long talks about who likes who. THE END >:3
