The locked burrow

Summary:

Stories were passed down from generation to generation of the Kubdels.
Tales of miraculous that gave whoever used them ancient powers of the gods.
Legends of guardians who protected the miraculous.
Myths of the family's heirloom pocket watch being a broken miraculous, its power locked away by the crack in its pattern.
And they were all true.

Or

I rewrote miraculous ladybug and this is me talking about the rabbit miraculous in my rewrite.

Work Text:

Davaa was raised in the guardian temple from the age of just six.

As the next chosen guardian of the European miracle box, she was multilingual in several languages and knew of her high expectations and very important duties.

Then as the elders would say, it all turned out like the illusion disaster of thirteen-fifty-seven. She had no idea what happened in thirteen-fifty-seven but they refused to tell her until she became an official guardian.

But that never happened.

—

Davaa was just coming back from the nearest merchant town when she saw smoke in the distance through the falling snow.

The fifteen year old felt a chill run down her spine.

She dropped her basket on the snow and began running as fast she could up the hill.

Davaa was shocked when she reached the top.

There, in the distance, was the temple of the guardians burning down.

Panicked, she began running down the hill when she heard a crack and tripped.

Whipping the snow from her face, she adjusted to a sitting position.

She turned to dig out whatever she’d tripped over.

Davaa gasped, covering her mouth with her hands.

Carefully, cautiously, she picked up the rabbit miraculous, the crack through it clear and deep.

She held it over her head, watching as it turned a silver color in her hands and the crack camouflaged into a beautiful pattern.

“Miraculous!” oh no.

Davaa spun up onto her heels, turning to see a small blue sentimonster running towards her, clearly aiming for Fluff's anchor to the mortal plane in her hand.

In desperation and quick thinking, she said the first thing that came to mind.

“Fluff! Clockwise!” nothing.

The sentimonster came closer and closer.

Davaa stuffed the miraculous in her pocket and booked it, running as fast as she could in the snowstorm.

She soon realized her cape was unfortunately slowing her down, despite its warmth.

Knowing this, Davaa still threw it off, the wind causing the cape to land on the stubborn sentimonster.

Shivering, Davaa managed to run faster until she had lost the creature and made it to the town she’d just left.

“The order of the guardians is gone,” she realized, her breath forming small clouds in the air.

—

Alix Kubdel had heard legends when she was young, young enough that her mother was still alive.

Of course, she didn’t believe her stories of miraculous. She didn’t even think of them that often until Ladybug, Chat Noir and Hawkmoth showed up.

That made her believe some of them.

But it's not like she expected her mom to be right about miraculous creation fixing broken miraculous like her family's pocket watch!

—

Alix had just come home from her race against Kim.

God she had not been prepared for an akuma that day, let alone to be the akuma!

She didn’t even remember anything past skating away holding her pocket watch before she felt a weird tingly feeling in her left rollerskate.
Next thing after that she remembered was sitting on the ground confused with her watch fixed in front of her, the main part of the pattern on it completely gone.

Now she was sitting against her bedroom door, looking at the watch curiously.

Alix tilted her head slightly before clicking open the watch.

Her eyes widened and she sat up straighter as a small blue light came out instead of the hologram thing.

Her shocked expression turned confused when the blue light turned into a weird little rabbit with blue on the inside of its ears.

“What year is it?” the little rabbit wondered aloud, looking around at the bedroom.

“Better question, what are you?” Alix asked, poking the rabbit to check if she was hallucinating as an akuma side effect or if it was real. It was.

“I’m Fluff! The kwami of time!” the rabbit, Fluff, replied happily.

“Wait so the legends are true? My family's pocket watch is a miraculous? Like Ladybug and Chat noirs?” Alix asked, holding out the miraculous in her hand.

As she held it out in front of her, it shifted from the blue, white and black it had turned to a silver decorated by swirls in the vague shape of a hopping rabbit.

Fluff nodded.

“Yep! My power lets you use burrow! Letting you go anywhere in time! There is a cost though, even worse for kids like you!” Fluff explained, patting Alix's head.

“And what's that?” the redhead wondered.

“Uh…I don’t remember! Do you have carrots?” Fluff queried.

Alix rolled her eyes, shut the pocket watch and stood up.

—

Turns out the cost was the farther in time she went the sicker she was afterwards. Just going to the eighteenth century got her a stomach bug.

Notes:

Basically what happened with the rabbit miraculous is it got cracked and locked, making it useless until it was essentially reset by miraculous creation(miraculous ladybug power).
