Work Text:
Raina laid in her bed, her mind consistently drifting to the Idol Awards. It was coming closer with each passing moment. With the idol awards coming closer, it meant she was days closer to achieving the Golden Honmoon, and it meant Raina was closer at being able to finally get rid of her stupid patterns. Then, she could tell Bo and Moira the truth. For now, she just had to trust that everything could go well, and she could get Sei to get the Saja Boys to back off.
Although, while meeting with Sei and talking to him have made Raina just... sort of want to drive for the Golden Honmoon even more, she couldn't help but feel like Takedown was wrong. Deep down, it just made her think of everything she hated about herself. She was an "oddity" among demons, and an "oddity" among hunters. A half-demon born from a Demon Hunter. The only thing she knew? That if she wanted to fulfill her ultimate duty, achieving the Golden Honmoon would get rid of her patterns. Permanently.
Raina flopped off her bed, heading onto the balcony. She stood under the night sky, wrapped in stars and clouds in the dead of night. "We are hunters voices strong, slaying demons with our song," she sang to herself, "fix the world and make it right. When darkness finally meets the light." She remembered being a child, with Celine braiding her hair next to her mother's grave, teaching her this song.
"We are hunters, voices strong, our faults and fears must never been since," Celine had said.
"Celine? Do all hunters kill demons?" Young Raina had asked. She lifted her right sleeve of her robe, revealing the dull purple patterns that all demons bore.
Celine pulled her sleeve back down. "Cover those up," she insisted. "You only have those because-"
"My father was a demon," she recalled. "Celine? How will I be able to get rid of the patterns?"
"Once the next generation of hunters, including YOU, makes the Honmoon Golden, your pattens will be gone," she answered, "forever."
This was what Raina wanted, but for some reason, with every passing night that she met with Sei, she somehow started to feel... a bit more comfortable with her patterns. Of course, she still wanted them gone, but she felt more at ease with them. For now, she just had to hope that her plan worked, and that Sei wouldn't leak the truth about her patterns, and leak the truth to Bo and Moira.
