Explosions and Kisses

Summary:

What happens when Shaoyou doesn’t take his safety seriously and Hua pays the price. Will Shaoyou learn the lesson needed to keep Hua safe from now on?

Work Text:

Hua Yong and Shaoyou have always had a love-hate relationship. Hua Yong has always loved (obsessed) over Shaoyou. But Shaoyou has had a more complicated relationship with Hua Yong. Their first meeting was based on a lie, and Shaoyou finds it hard to fogive so easily. He knows Hua Yong loves him, but again it is complicated.

Shaoyou knows that Hua would burn the world for him, if he so asked. That might be part of the problem though. Shaoyou has a soft heart even if he does not show it that often. And violence is not something he likes to dish out unless absolutely nessesary. Hua on the other hand would for a better term, shoot now, ask questions later.

Sometimes Shaoyou is okay with it as in Hua’s eyes he’s proving that he would protect him at all costs. Hua knows that Shaoyou doesn’t like to get his hands dirty so to speak. But other times (like right now) Shaoyou thinks that Hua is being a little over protective. When they were at work this morning, there was a package that was somehow delivered to Shaoyou’s office, it didn’t have any sender information, and it was sitting right on Shaoyou’s desk. There was not any camera that showed anyone dropping it off. So of course Hua was super suspicious. Shaoyou was of course curious, but not at the level that Hua was.

Hua was always on high alert because he has almost lost Shaoyou a few times before, due to other people’s carelessness and greed. So of course when Hua saw that package on his Shaoyou’s desk, he immediately went on high alert. Shaoyou sighed, knowing that Hua was freaking out. Trying to defuse the situation before it got too out of control, he tells Hua to just move it outside of his office, and they can deal with it later when they have time.

Hua looks at Shaoyou with determination, and pinches the bridge of his nose, “I will deal with this now, you get to work” when i find out who and what this is i will let you know. Carefully picking the package up, noting that it was a little heavy, but not too bad, he carefully picks it up and takes it out of Shaoyou’s office and disappears down the hall. Shaoyou sighs and rolls his eyes, but does as he is told.

Getting lost in work, he doesn’t even realize the time until a few hours later, when his stomach growls at him. He buzzes for Hua to come in so they can figure out food, but who answered was not Hua, the replacement secretary explains that Hua was not back yet from his errand this morning. Shaoyou was shocked as he didn’t think that this would take this long. He picks up his phone to call Hua, but just as he does, there is a definite boom that shakes the building. Not understanding what is happening and the chaos that erupts at the noise, does not immediately connect with Hua, but he begins to think about it. Picks up his phone to call Hua but it goes straight to voicemail. That never happens as Hua always picks up his calls, even if he is busy

Now Shaoyou is starting to panic, maybe Hua was right, and that he should have been more careful with that package. What if it was an explosive, it would definitely make sense now. He really starts to panic. Has he just inadvertently put his Hua in harms way because he was too careless? He couldn’t think of that right now, he had to find Hua. And now!

Hua had taken the package down to the parking garage, as he made his way down he called Wen Lang. As he picked up he explained he needed assistance on figuring out who and what this package was, explaining that it just showed up on Shaoyou’s desk this morning with no evidence. Wen Lang says he’s on his way. But before he could hang up Wen Lang heard a massive explosion. Then the line goes dead. Wen Lang stands there in shock for a second, before immediately trying to call Hua back, going straight to voicemail. Not being able to to get through to his friend, he calls the only other person that is close to Hua- Shaoyou.

Wen Lang has only ever called Shaoyou a total of 2 times, so it was not something that was in his comfort zone. Shaoyou has been trying to get down to the parking garage but as of late has not been successful, The explosion has definitely damaged the building. So taking the stairs is the only option at this point. He/s halfway down when his phone rings. Thinking that is was Hua, he picks up without looking at the caller ID, “Hello?, Hua? Is that you?” Wen Lang answered back at him- “No, but i was literally on the phone with him and then heard and explosion, is everything okay?” Wen Lang and Shaoyou have not been on friendly terms but they did have something they cared about in common, so they tried to be civil whenever nessesary.

“There was an explosion at the building, I think Hua was in the explosion, i cannot reach him” Wen Lang cursed, “im coming to help, you can’t stop me, Hua is my friend too.” Shaoyou sighs, knowing that Wen Lang is nothing if not persistent. “Okay, but be careful, I don’t know how the integrity of the building is at the momen, im currently trying to make my way to the parking garage, as the elevator is not safe now.”

Wen Lang, sent an affirmative, then said he is on his way, and to make sure he stays safe at least for Hua’s sake. Shaoyou agreed and reciprocated the sentiment. They hang up and Shaoyou continues down to the parking garage.

Chaos is still surrounding the building but Shaoyou only has one thing on his mind- Find Hua Young. He finally makes it down after what feels like forever, as he has had to stop multiple times due to rubble on the staircase, but finally he makes it. He shoves open the door, to more chaos. No one has come to the garage as they were trying to make their way outside to relative safety, but again Shaoyou needs to find Hua. The garage is in shambles, bits of the ceiling is everywhere, dust is thick in the air, Shaoyou covers his mouth with his overcoat sleeve and continues calling out Hua’s name.

Hua was in the garage talking to Wen Lang, when he accidentally slightly tips the package, hearing a click he throws the package as far from himself as he can, but apparently it was not far enough as the last thing he hears before everything goes black is Wen Lang saying he was on his way. Then an explosion and then nothing.

He comes to an unknown time later, completely numb, he can’t feel anything which he does not know yet is a good thing or a bad thing. He tries to sit up, but that was apparently a bad idea, pain explodes in his side. He cries out unknowingly, and stills all movement. He tries breathing through the pain. Growing up the way he did showing pain was met with punishment. Getting out of that mindset was taking more time then Hua wanted to admit. But he physically couldn’t move without pain. He was stuck. He had to wait for help, which again was not something he was accustomed to doing.

He lays in wait hoping that Shaoyou was safe and that he would be able to see him again soon. Wen Lang did say he was on his way, so maybe he wouldn’t have to wait too terribly long. As he was thinking that, he heard a faint call of his name, it was Shaoyou! Calling out back was a struggle, but it was doable. Hearing footsteps coming hear him, he calls out to Shaoyou again, hearing the footsteps coming closer rapidly. Shaoyou came around a corner and skidded to a stop.

Shaoyou called Hua’s name as he frantically searched for Hua. His mind was going a hundred miles a minute- what if Hua was injured badly, what if he died….Stopping that thought before it could spiral, he was calling out, and finally heard a soft reply back, sighing in relative relief he runs towards the reply, calling again, he hears a reply again, its fainter then the first. Shaoyou ran faster wanting to reach Hua as fast as possible. He turns the corner and came to a stop….seeing Hua almost buried in rubble he freaks out and runs to Hua. Skidding to his Hua’s side he tried to reach out but stopped himself not knowing where to touch without hurting Hua more.

Finally deciding to cup Hua’s face- Hua leaned into the touch, sighing in relief. “Hua, where are you hurt? I know your not fine, so dont even say you are.” Hua knowing he was not, but thinking that lying to his Shaoyou was too much work. “I can’t move, I’ve tried to, but I can’t tell otherwise” Shaoyou was shocked, not thinking that Hua was going to actually tell him the truth. His mind was running even more then before. “Okay, let me see if i can get some of this off you.” Shaoyou tried to move the smaller rubble off first as to not hurt his Hua more then he already was. As some of the rocks were pulled off, Hua let out a small whine. Signaling that something was wrong. Shaoyou immediately stopped, dropped down to his knees, cupping Hua’s face again. “What’s wrong Hua, what hurts?” Hua was breathing heavily, eyes screwed shut. Shaoyou waited not wanting to rush him.

Hua knew that was was wrong with him was more then his enigma powers were able to fix. His mind was racing tell Shaoyou he was in pain, or try and tuff it out. Pain shot up his side, and the decision was made up for him, taking as big of a breath as he could, “it hurts, I don’t think my powers can fix this fully” Shaoyou stilled as the words from his Hua sunk in.

Shaoyou knew that Hua was an enigma, and what that entailed, but hearing Hua say what he just did, was startling and dread filled his system. Looking at Hua with love and understanding, Shaoyou cupped Hua’s face startled again to find it wet, not with blood, but with tears…Was Hua crying??

Shaoyou was in his own world with Hua, when he heard ruckus from somewhere farther away, Hua heard it too, “it’s Wen Lang” Hua says softly. Shaoyou called out to Wen Lang, making sure that he knew where they were. Wen Lang came running around the corner, and looking down at what he was dealing with. Not saying anything to Shaoyou yet, he looks directly at Hua and Hua looks at Wen Lang, they have a silent coversation, Wen Lang nodded. Looking at Shaoyou “we need to get him to the hospital as soon as possible. He’s not gonna make it much longer if we wait on help to arrive. It’s gonna hurt him either way, we need to think about his wellbeing” Shaoyou looks at Hua, Hua looks back at him again with tears on his face.

”Please bare with us, i know this is gonna hurt, please let it out if you need to. Please Hua, i know this is not what you are use to, and i understand you are battling with yourself, but please this one time, for me, please do i ask” Hua looks at Shaoyou and nods. As soon as he got the response he gives a signal to Wen Lang, and together the get the rubble off of Hua. Hua does let out a few whines, and a few choice curse words, but other then that he was at least awake. That’s all that both Shaoyou an Wen Lang can ask for.

Once all the rubble was off of Hua, they were finally able to look at the damage done to Hua. Shaoyou was sick, the damage done was extensive, and he now understood what Hua meant when he said that his powers were not gonna be able to fix it all. The worst of his injuries was a rebar sticking out of his side, which explains why he said earlier that he couldn’t move. There was a few other less major injuries, but the rebar was the worst thing that both Shaoyou and Wen Lang could see. Shaoyou knelt down close toy Hua’s face and cupped his face, “Hua, its all off, how are you feeling? Anywhere else it hurts other then your side?”

Hua stayed quiet for a minute, thinking, taking stock of what he felt. His side was definitely the worst he thinks. “I think my side is the worst of it,” he says quietly. Hua was in pain yes, but he was also shocked that this is the first time he has cried, in his entire life. He’s glad that Shaoyou didn’t make a big deal of it. Knowing that it would be brought up later, he was just glad that it wasn’t now. He didn’t think that he could handle it now.

Wen Lang was observing the injury, was it safe to move him, or was it safer to just leave him until the paramedics arrived. “Shaoyou, do you think that it would be safer to move him now, or wait till help come, I don’t know when that help will be, and i don’t want him bleeding out on the garage concrete while we wait for who knows how long.” Shaoyou looks at the injury more closely, te rebar was not attached to the wall, so that was a good thing. And Wen Lang was correct, he didn’t know how long they would have to wait, but also he didn’t want to risk moving him if it was just gonna cause more damage in the long run.

“Hua, please answer me this truthfully, i need to know to keep you safe, do you want to move now or wait until help arrives? We need to know so if you wanna move we need to do it now.” Hua wanted to immediately say move now, but thinking about the answer more thoughtfully and logically, knowing that both would be painful, one would just be prolonging the inevitable the other was facing it head on.

“I wanna go now, waiting will just prolong it.” Hua says tiredly. Shaoyou noticed the change in his demeanor immediately. Looking at Wen Lang, he nods. Shaoyou again looks at Hua lovingly, “my Hua, please stay awake, we are gonna get you out, you have to stay awake.” Hua looks back at Shaoyou lovingly, knowing that if he fell asleep, he might not ever wake up, and to never set eyes on his Shaoyou again would be something he couldn’t bear. Nodding back at him. Shaoyou looked at Wen Lang- “ okay any ideas?” Wen Lang stood back and looked around the scene more closely in front of them. He had a few ideas that came into his head and then immediately discarded. “Okay, I think i have an idea, Hua, we are gonna lift you, and im gonna have to- now don’t hate me for this, its the only thing I can think of- im gonna piggy back you out” Knowing full well that Hua had pride even when injured, and piggy backing him was definitely not something his pride would like very much.

The look that Hua gave him was truly murderous, “Have any better idea’s?” Hua knew that it truly was the only way, but he didn’t like it one bit. Shaoyou nodded at the idea, knowing that his Hua would actually kill Wen Lang if he could, for even suggesting it. But not having any better ideas it was the only way. “Hua, please i know you dont want it, but unless you have a better idea, its the only way, other then waiting on the paramedics.” Hua sighed, knowing that yes it was the only way out. He was resigned to be treated like a child until he could get help.
