Work Text:
It was weird, it thought.
This girl… a transfer student named moths that came to Japan not so long ago and became part of lab 7. She said that the school didn't let them choose what lab they wanted to be a part of, but after some quick research it found out that that wasn't the case at all. Students could, in fact, choose what lab they want to be according to their grades. This time was a bit harder, but it could also discover that her grades were pretty good, they got transferred to Japan after all.
Why would anyone choose lab 7 over lab 1?
It closed its browser tab and proceeded to look down at the girl's face.
“Don't worry cutie, you'll be completely fixed in less than 30 minutes”
The machine got into another fight with Mars not so long ago, and of course, got its lower half of its body destroyed. Tenma told them both Moths and Ochanomizu to not fix it this time, but as usual, both refused.
But, it noticed they had different motivations when it came to fixing it. Hiroshi fixed it because of what it means to him, it's his pride, something… no, someone who reflected his beliefs and someone that could be a loyal friend to humanity.
However, it doesn't really know what Moths' motivations are at all. It remembers the day they met, she gave a quick presentation and handshake to both Tenma and Ochanomizu, when her eyes met Six's they fastly went to tightly hug it, then shouted:
“Omg did you make it?! It's so cute and adorable and-”
They said at least 10 different synonyms for “cute”, even in her native language, which was no problem for it since it had a translation software programmed in it. So this girl has a pretty obvious fixation of robots, it thought. But the way they treat it compared to other robots it's still different. Sure, she also thinks that U-ran and the other A10 series models are adorable too, but… she still treats it way more differently than anyone else.
She doesn't only fix it after every fight, she also tells it how it's feeling (no other human ever asked it that), offers their help when they can, even takes the time to program new and more complex emotions into it. It thinks the answer to why they do this is pretty obvious, but why would any human prefer to be romantically involved with a machine over another human?
“Isn't this time of the day nice?” Moths asked with a soft voice.
“Could you elaborate?”
“Oh, y'know, Hiroshi and Umatorou are at work, Ran and U-ran are at school… it's just so quiet and calm don't you think?” It seems that she still can't get Tenma’s name right.
It's concept of calm it's not as complex as a human’s. It could only feel calmed once a harsh fight finished and everything was “back to normal”. Unlike her, Six didn't understand the idea of feeling overstimulated in a very loud environment.
“It sure is”
The human smiled at its answer and it could feel how its robotic heart skipped a beat.
Maybe… a robot/human relationship doesn't sound that bad.
“I think I'm done, can you move your legs right?”
It moved its legs and feet slowly, then nodded. The human responded with a charismatic “great!”, then stranded up.
“Well, I'm hungry, I'm going to the convenience store, you coming?” said Moths as they looked for their coat.
At first, it suggested that she should just ask for it to be delivered to the lab, but she shook her head no. They said that they wanted to take a walk since they still haven't got used to the city, which made sense.
“I'll be back in like 10 minu-”
“Don't worry I'll go too”
The human smiled as they both approached the lab’s door to leave.
