Kirsh leaned away from the hand reaching toward his hair.
"Look with your eyes..." he said testily.
The roboticist's eyes narrowed behind round, titanium spectacles. She was a new hire - an expert in her field; someone who had been maintaining, and studying, synths for over three decades. She wasn't used to them talking back.
"I can touch you however I please. I'm your technician," she said coolly, even as her hand drew back.
Kirsh stared at her, his dark eyes sparkling with a defiance that she had only seen once, or twice, before. Older models seemed more inclined towards thinking of themselves as people, and desiring personal space... A pronounced flaw in their code and not a very desirable trait for a member of the constructed slave caste to have.
"I don't see how petting me is conducive to my maintenance,"
Kirsh's voice was mild, but unyielding.
"The Kavalier's work in incredible," the woman deflected, reaching out again and pulling the comms device out of Kirsh's head port. "I'm admiring it... You're lucky he still keeps you around. You're... How old, now?"
She plugged in some wires.
"You're yesterday's model..."
