Work Text:
“Amir, darling, what lipstick color was I wearing yesterday?” Barry leaned over the bathroom counter, holding up lip products to his face.
Amir’s features scrunched ever so slightly with concern. “I believe it was pink, but when I look at your lips I can’t say the color is the first thing on my mind. Why, what’s on your mind my dear?”
Barry blushed at his insinuation. “I just want to switch it up every now and then, that’s all!”
“Now, my love, I know you well enough to know that you aren’t quite being truthful.”
“You’re right,” Barry sighed. “I guess I’m just worried about forcing myself to stick with one look. If I wear one color or paint a certain way consistently enough, part of me is afraid I won’t be able to be myself if I deviate even a little.”
Amir cupped his lover’s chin in his hand delicately. “To me, you’ll always be absolute perfection. If you want a signature look, it would surely compliment you divinely. If you tried new things, well, you would be just as beautiful in my eyes.”
“You really mean it?” Barry’s eyes widened. While he didn’t expect his boyfriend to outright insult him, he wasn’t sure if he would understand his anxiety.
“I would never lie when it comes to beauty. I simply call it as I see it, if you will.”
“Thank you darling. What would I do without you?”
“I hope we never have to find out.”
Barry looked back at the tubes in his hand. “The question remains though, what color should I choose? Obviously pink suits me well but a wine or brown is trendy at the moment. Any thoughts?”
Amir smirked, swiping his thumb across Barry's lips. “I've always thought red looked good on my skin..”
