Ah.
Wolfgang was in quite the predicament now, because the one excuse he had managed to come up with, had anyone seen him leaving his dorm room, was that he was going to the laundry room to pick up a batch of clothes he had left there. And while any of the other fourteen students would have left him without a second thought...
"You're heading to Cassidy's tournament, Wolfie?"
...Ingrid would see straight through him. And the truth is something he couldn't reveal to a single soul. He thinks back to Grace this morning, telling her he was sick...
"...That's correct. I'm going to the tournament." he responds, smiling. And then pauses. "I'm...going to the pharmacy. I think I have a cold coming on."
"I'm sorry, hun." Ingrid frowned, genuinely downcast. "How about I come with you? I'm heading down that way anyway, what with Toshiko's aching head..."
Toshiko has a headache. What...what a coincidence. "Of course."
But after he'd grabbed whatever cold syrup or ibuprofen there was, Ingrid insisted on walking him to the dining hall too, even when Wolfgang tried to politely decline. She didn't leave until he'd walked through the doors safe, Cassidy welcoming him.
"I had a change of heart," he said, when the inevitable questions came from Grace. "I didn't think I should leave you alone."
And as he sat himself down, Damon visibly annoyed at his appearance, he turned to look at Eva in the corner of the room, game console in her hands. She quickly hid her face behind her console, but for some odd reason, for the split second their eyes had met Eva had looked like she'd seen a ghost.
She's lying in the water, face down. Generator destroyed. Her pink (red?) hair floating around her, clothes saturated with water. They're crying for her, mourning, and their screams fill the room. Their horror, palpable. Wolfgang cannot breathe - he is choking on the tears that threaten to pour out of his eyes, eyes glued to her dead body. Dead - like he's stuck in a repeating nightmare he can't wake up from. Dead, and he couldn't save her. Dead, and-
"Wolfgang?"
Toshiko's voice is tremulous, and it knocks him out of the stupor he's in. He's back to reality - back in the boiler room, where Diana Venicia is dead. And him, the Ultimate Lawyer, must bring the murderer to justice.
"Toshiko, you have no reason to be afraid." he insists. "Trust me, this will work out for us. We'll find the blackened."
Wolfgang says this, and he can feel the tension ease slightly. Just a touch. Toshiko nods, wiping at her wet eyes. Encouraged by him.
And he nearly misses the dirty look Eva shoots him before she storms out of the room.
