Rui has been coughing more and more lately, no one seemed to have a second thought about it. Until he started coughing up flower petals covered in blood. Every time he talked to Nene it seemed to get worse.
It got to the point where Rui would just ignore Nene every time she tried to talk to him.
"Hey Rui do you w-🎮" she gets cut off by rui running as fast as possible.
Nene thought rui hated her so at some point she just gave up and stopped talking to him. One day in the middle of English class Rui gets another coughing attack and coughs up a dahlia covered in blood.
Tsukasa notices it and talks to him after class. "RUI WHO DO YOU LIKE🌟" he yells. "You don't have to scream it and I like no one.🎈" He lies as he coughs up another petal. Tsukasa started getting a more of a frustrated look on his face. " STOP LYING! Now tell me the truth. WHO DO YOU LIKE!🌟" Everyone in the school hears him yell. "Fine I'll tell you just follow me to the rooftop so I can tell you in private.🎈" Rui says with an annoyed look on his face.
They arrive at the rooftop "Now tell me, WHO DO YOU LIKE.🌟" somehow he yells so loud that people still hear him. "Why do you want to know so bad any ways.🎈" Rui looks at him with concern. "I know you have hanahaki disease. Coughing up dahlia petals and even whole flowers. Do you like Nene?" Rui sighs as he realizes that Tsukasa hit the target and guessed correctly.
"You got it right I do like Nene, but I can't admit my feelings towards her it might ruin are whole friendship we've had since we were little. The only thing I can do is potentially ruin our friendship, die, or get surgery and forget her forever, and I don’t want to do any of that.🎈” Tsukasa goes silent for a second as he tries to come up with a solution. “ I have an id-🌟” he gets cuts off as the bell rings for lunch and they realize they missed an entire class.
"Can I have lunch with you if I have lunch with Nene my symptoms will get worse.🎈” Tsukasa looks at him in a “you know what you have do” way and then leaves him up there.
Rui ends up sitting there alone for a bit. Little did he know that Tsukasa was looking for Nene to send her up to sit with Rui. He does eventually find her and Nene goes up there but purposely sits on the other end of the rooftop. As she still think Rui hates her.
She starts to text emu.

EVERY TIME I try to talk to him he starts running
away and starts coughing. I’ve even started coughing
after talking to him.

talk to you and he’s sick and doesn’t want to
get you sick.

Nene also realizes that she has to go back to class. When she gets up she sees Rui and she finally remembers why she went up there anyways. She heads over to Rui “ Hey Rui why do you keep running away from me every time I try to talk to you🎮" He coughs up another flower " Rui are you okay. You just coughed up a bloody dahlia. Is this one of your new inventions 🎮" rui chuckles " The truth is I didn't want to worry you so every time you talked to me I'd run away so you wouldn't worry. I have the hanahaki disease for Tsukasa🎈" He lies "Alright please tell him soon I don't want you to die. I'll be heading to class see ya🎮"
Nene gets to class and once she sits down she coughs some blood up. She gets concerned and asked the teacher to be excused. She runs home hoping its nothing bad. Then she coughs a baby breath petal. She realizes she too has the hanahaki disease but for Rui. She gets worried because she thinks Rui's in love with Tsukasa.
