In The Flowers

Summary:

Please believe that the dawn will come.

Notes:

I just want to see Reo smile from the bottom of his heart. I won’t forgive what he did as The Quartering Duke but I hope he can go on living.

Work Text:

Is it red? It is a sea of flowers.
Please believe in yourself, because it is truly a beautiful flower field.
He's still confused, because memories are not clear right now; because it seems there's nothing here but only flowers and himself with petals surrounded.
A breeze is blowing. Where will it go, where's the end?
So quiet here.
Shadows appeared ahead. Several figures seemed to be walking towards him.
Some were children, running ahead; others were grown-ups, coming after.
He looked down and found that a girl had already been waiting, perhaps for a response for a long time.
“Brother Reo is so brave! Those experiments were scary, but you always stay with me, so I'm not afraid of those bad guys now!”
“…Huh?”
A sense of deja vu….
“Here, some flowers for you!” Another kid came up.
He gazed down at these clear, bright eyes. Then he unbelievably received this little gift.
What's next?
The fragrance of flowers....caused no allergy at all. It's only now that he realizes.
“Thanks for solving that odd case, Doleful Detective. I thought that I could never lend my friend a hand again.”
They are people who he had seen in cases. He now clearly remembers.
“But did I really help you with anything at that time.”
He had completely forgotten the excitement of that time, and was just muttering confusedly. He thinks himself ridiculous back then.
He looked at the flowers and became distracted.
“Don't be absent-minded! Raise your head!”
Attracted by the voice, he saw everyone smiling.
Yes, they are kids and adults, they are a few playmates and partners who care about and also tolerate him, they are those common ones who had experienced sorrow in cases.
Everyone in this peaceful sea of flowers shall blend into the world, and he, too, must hold the flowers and stand among them.
Finally, going to speak out this. Thank you all for believing in me until this moment.
But how can he face those who trust him?
However, if that's so— At least for now—
Please show your smile. Perhaps at some unnoticed moments, you trusted them, or wanted to trust them.
Just see it as response, thanks, and apologies, even though it may be unable to wipe off.
Is it white.
