Why does my boss hate Ava Silva?

Summary:

Camila notices things.

Notes:

This story is inspired by a Moonsun fanfic I read many years ago but do not remeber the title nor the story in general, just that someone was obsessed with their boss. Everything will be through Camila’s POV

Chapter 1

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Camila POV.

When I accepted this job I never thought I’d be obsessed with my boss. Not because I was obsessed with my boss, but I had fixated with her relationship with the social media manager.

Beatrice, the diligent woman that carried herself so properly and controlled her emotions with exquisite manners: A deep breath and a long sigh; was constantly put on edge by Ava, the adventurous, easy going and most likeable employee at the company.

And I just couldn’t help but be curious about why Beatrice reacted the ways she did when Ava would do something so typical of her.

For example, this morning, Ava had brought cut-out pumpkins to decorate everyone’s desks and took pictures to upload on the companies socials and not three minutes had gone by after she had posted the pictures, when Beatrice opened her office door, letting the cold that had gathered by the air conditioner wash over everyone’s cubicles, her expression serious, but we could all see her hair was disheveled, and that meant she was fuming inside. A common occurrence when it came to Ava.

Or at least that was what I was told.

“Ava!” She took a deep loud sigh. Ava stood up fast from JC's desk, where she’d been sitting on top of, “My office” Beatrice signaled for her to go inside. Ava blushed when she noticed everyone stared at her and walked fast towards the office.

The door closed with a loud bang that echoed through the sudden silence the situation had created.

“What do you think Ava did now?” Lilith asked Mary. We were at the cafeteria, I prepared my own pumpkin spice latte and eavesdropped into their conversation.

Mary shrugged. “It’s so common of Ava to screw up, I’ve decided I don’t want to know anymore.”

But I did. I wanted to know! And the small gossip wasn’t giving me anything. I wanted to know how it started, what did Ava do to have Beatrice have animosity towards her? Why did Ava continue to do things that made Beatrice have those reactions? Wasn’t she scared of getting fired?

I had tried Yasmine, the most gossipy of everyone, “It’s because Ava had someone find her a place here. Our superior, the head of the company” She had said. “No, interview, no experience… of course Beatrice will give her a hard time even if Ava is doing a good job.” I didn’t believe that though. Ava didn’t seem like a person to have connections around. I also asked Dora, but, she just told me not to meddle into others relationships.

“I’m just waiting for Beatrice to finally fire her.” Lilith said as Mary left to sit with Shannon.

“Why hasn’t she?” I asked, faking no real curiosity. “Seems like Ava doesn’t do her job very well. It's like, inevitable by now.”

“I don’t know…” She looked at Ava as she walked into the cafeteria. “yet.” She smirked.

And suddenly, a light appeared behind Lilith , illuminating her features like the goddess she had turned into, for me, at this very moment.

“And who are you?” the light went out. “Are you new here?” she took a sip of her coffee.

“Yes,” I’d been here since June. We’d had lunch together a few times already.

“Oh, aren’t you the new editor?” She stretched her hand to shake mine.

I nodded. My glasses almost fell off. “Yes, I’m the new editor.” I worked in the tech area of our department. I changed the settings on our site every day and I uploaded all of the new articles. As our proofreader and style editor, she’d been to my cubicle a few times.

“Nice to meet you…?”

“Camila.”

“Camila.” Lilith smirked. “You seem like a person I’ll like.”

I smiled. A little nervous. Lilith wasn’t a person that spoke with everyone. Just Mary and Shannon and sometimes Beatrice. She was intimidating and wasn’t scared of being loud about her opinion, especially when it came to Ava.

Notes:

I started this story with a specific ending in mind however it will progress into a lot of filler conversations and situations.
Hope you enjoy.
