Debut

Debut loved Halloween, she loved the fun of it all, dressing up and bobbing for apples, but most of all she loved hanging out with her friends. She had on a witch costume, a cool hat and everything, and she was leaning against the bar, taking slow sips of her apple cider. Fearless sat in the stool next to her with a hot cider, staring down Showgirl.

Debut took another sip. “You like them?”

Fearless's head whipped around to look at Debut, cheeks turning red. “Yeah- uh, maybe…”

Debut smiled, nudging her friend. “C'mon, make your move now before someone else does!” She motions toward Stick Season, who was talking animatedly with Showgirl.

Fearless dropped her face into her palms and groaned. “I'm so awkward though, I'm going to mess it up!”

“It will only get worse!” Debut huffed. Sometimes her friend needed someone there to encourage her, and Debut was more than happy to meddle as she had no love life.

“Fine,” Fearless sighed.

Debut watched her walk across the room to Showgirl and Stick Season, butting into the conversation, and eventually pulling Showgirl off to the dance floor. Debut smiled against her cup, taking another sip.

Fearless

It wasn't Fearless's fault that Showgirl was insanely pretty, and how was she to stay away? She hadn't been able to take her eyes off of her new neighbor all night, and Debut had finally convinced her to talk to them, thank the gods. Now, thanks to her friend, Fearless was dancing with Showgirl, spinning around to an upbeat Halloween song. Fearless's dress flew out, showing off the intricate lines of her costume. She was dressed as a princess, somewhat inspired by Juliet from Romeo and Juliet.

The person across from her twirled Fearless in a circle, laughing in delight. It was a beautiful sound, and Fearless loved it. Showgirl was dressed as a cheerleader zombie, dark circles drawn under her stunning blue eyes. Fearless dragged her fingers down Showgirl's costume, admiring the coordinated cuts to make it appear ragged while still being stable. Showgirl noticed her gaze lingering with a smirk, and cupped Fearless's cheek with her hand.

Fearless blushed, and Showgirl pulled her closer. “Would you like a kiss, princess?”

She nodded eagerly, surprised but loving that idea.

Showgirl's smile was sweet as she pulled Fearless in, and her lips were even sweeter, making Fearless melt immediately as she kissed her back.

Speak Now

Speak Now picked at the hot glued on scales of her arm bands, impatiently waiting for her girlfriend to finish fixing her braid. She huffed, and Folklore finally tucked the final strand into place.

“There you go, baby. Prettiest dragon I've ever seen.”

Speak Now twisted in the chair, quickly kissing her before standing up. “Thank you! I think we should go find Poets before they get looped into drinking.”

Folklore laughed, grabbing Speak Now's hand and helping her to the door of the room they had found.

They ran through the halls together, Folklore's fairy costume flowing behind her. Speak Now used the tip of her costume's wing to shove in front of her girlfriend, pumping her arms in the air in silent triumph. Folklore rolled her eyes, smiling.

“What the hell, guys.” Poets appeared next to them, grinning at their antics.

Speak Now leaped onto Poets, who caught her just in time. “Hi, baby! Me and Folklore were just looking for you.”

Poets sat her girlfriend down, ruffling her hair. “I was getting us all a cider from the bar.” She handed a cup to each of them, saving the third for herself.

They settled onto a couch, Speak Now laying her head on Folklore's shoulder. She yawned, knowing there was no place she'd rather be than with her girlfriends.

Red

Red had chosen to go as Katniss Everdeen for the party, specifically the dress on fire look. Her dress was black on top, flames painted on the bottom, curling up. She had on smoky eye makeup adding to the effect. She was pretty proud of it, and it had gotten a lot of people's attention, including Evermore, who Red might have a huge crush on.

“Hey Red, I'm heading towards the food, do you want anything?” Red jumped, forgetting the very person she was thinking about was only a few feet from her.

“Oh um, sure Evermore. Maybe a donut?” Fuck that sounded so bad.

Evermore smiled, showing she heard, and made her way through the crowd of dancing individuals toward the food area. Evermore's own elf costume was extremely beautiful, a long shiny dress and incredible headdress. It made her look ethereal.

Red leaned back against the wall, sighing. Short n’ Sweet approached from the side, standing next to her.

Sweet held out a hand to Red. “Come out for a dance.” Red smiled, knowing that Sweet just wanted to help her out.

She took the other's hand, following her to the dance floor. Sweet spun her around, jumping to the beat.

“Red, I swear Evermore likes you back, I'm a master at love, I would know.”

Red rolled her eyes at the comment. She didn't know about master at it. “I try to tell her, but my brain is, like,” she gestures wildly. “Imploding whenever I talk to her.”

Sweet smiles a bit, showing she gets it. “Just keep trying, darling.”

Red smiles, giving Sweet a hug before she breaks away, noticing Evermore had returned.

1989

1989 looked in the mirror, making sure her costume was perfected. All she needed was the choker, and it'd be perfect.

She turned to her girlfriend, Midnights, who was leaning on the doorframe, gesturing that she needed help clasping it. Midnights came over, taking the small clip in her fingers, brushing 1989's hair back to make sure she didn't catch it. She fastened the black choker, and 1989 smiled.

“It's perfect, thank you, baby.”

Midnights smiles, kissing her cheek. “We've got to get going, the party started about five minutes ago.”

1989 nodded, getting up. She was going as Alice in Wonderland, while her counterpart was going as Caitlyn from Arcane. 1989 would have been Vi, but there was no way in hell she could pull that off.

During the short drive to Man's Best Friend's house (she was hosting the party), 1989 gazed out the window at the passing lights, letting them blur into one another.

Midnights walked her up the lawn, already seeing the flashing lights inside. 1989 twisted the door knob, revealing the party inside. Costumes swirled around, music blasting, with red solo cups on the floor and people smiling and laughing everywhere, jumping to the beat. Midnights grabbed her girlfriend's hand, tugging her into the mix, kicking the door shut.

Reputation

People cheered and yelled as Reputation shotgunned a soda, wiping her mouth with a grin as she finished it. Lover clapped from her place next to Rep, always supporting her girlfriend. Rep crushed the empty can in her hand, throwing it into the overflowing recycling as she led Lover outside. The two stopped for a breath, looking at the stars that were dusted throughout the sky.

Lover leaned against Rep's shoulder, shivering lightly in her Harley Quinn costume. Rep smiled, wrapping her cape around her girlfriend, as she was wearing a vampire costume.

“Having fun?” Rep looked at her girlfriend for an answer.

Lover smiled against her girlfriend's shoulder. “Yeah, thanks for convincing me to come.”

Rep moved her girlfriend's head up lightly, kissing her. “Of course, baby.”

A few minutes pass in silence, before they head back into the party. Rep starts to walk towards the wall, but she's yanked back by her girlfriend's hand.

“Lover!” She says while laughing as she's dragged to the dance floor. Lover spins her around, whisking her past other couples and friends. She spots Fearless dancing with Showgirl, looking quite flustered and she smiles to herself, glad Fearless finally found someone. Rep gazed at Lover, thankful for her girlfriend and how amazing she made her feel.

Lover

Rep had gone off to the bathroom, and Lover was hanging out by the drinks, trying not to smudge her lipstick too much. She and her girlfriend had danced for a while, eventually taking a break for food, drink, and to use the bathroom. Many people had had the same idea and the dance floor cleared out a bit. Someone leaned on the wall next to her, a big smile on their face.

Lover turned to them, recognizing Showgirl. “Hey, Showgirl.” She smirked. “Looks like you and Fearless enjoyed yourselves.”

Showgirl blushed, the color showing through her zombie makeup. “Yeah she's nice.”

“Have you met my girlfriend, Reputation?”

Showgirl blew a stray hair out of her face. “I don't think so.”

Lover smiled dreamily. “She's amazing.”

The two laughed and traded stories, eventually migrating over to the stairs. They sat down, holding drinks they'd snagged on the way there. Lover spotted Rep and waved her over, introducing her to Showgirl.

Rep smiled after a particularly funny story about how Showgirl's cat had gotten into glitter, leaning in to whisper in Lover's ear.

“See how much more fun a party can be when you talk to people?”

Lover lightly smacked Rep. “Cut me some slack, I'm not feeling very people-y today.”

Lover laughed as Rep pulled her backwards and she didn't resist as she was pulled into her girlfriend's lap. Rep ruffled the top of her head, running her fingers through Lover's Harley Quinn ponytails.

Lover started telling Showgirl another story as her girlfriend played with her hair.

Folklore

Folklore was having a great night. She and her girlfriends had danced until they couldn't anymore, and they had their share of food and drinks. Speak Now was now asleep on Folklore's chest and she was leaning on Poets, the three of them curled up on a couch.

Debut sat down on Folklore's other side looking conflicted.

“Hey Debut, what's up?”

“Do you think I'll ever find someone?” Debut sounded so miserable, and Folklore instantly felt for her.

“Hey, of course you will, if you want. But you know you don't ever need to, you don't need someone to be happy.” Folklore used her free hand to reassuringly pat Debut on the back.

Debut sighed. “Yeah it's just hard watching everyone else find someone and not…”

Folklore smiled. “I know. Just have fun. Live, you know. Come to the movies with me, Poets, and Speak Now sometime.”

“Really?” Debut looked up at her.

“Of course.” Folklore looked down at her girlfriend's sleeping form draped over her. She brushed Speak Now's hair behind her ear, falling back onto Poets’ shoulder. Debut thanked her, and Folklore assured her it was no problem.

She felt Debut leave and wished her well as she walked to the door. Folklore finally let her eyes droop, letting the warmth and comfort of her girlfriends lull her to sleep.

Evermore

Evermore swirled to the beat, dress flying out. She was wearing an elf costume, with a homemade crown she was really proud of. Red pushed through the crowd toward her, and Evermore noticed she looked a little shaky.

“You okay, Red?”

Red startled, looking up at Evermore. “Yeah, I- I um, just wanted to ask you something. Um ah, would you like to dance with me?”

Evermore smiled. “Yeah.” She'd had a crush on the younger for a while, but was sure it wouldn't go anywhere. This was a pleasant surprise.

Red blushed and offered her a hand, and Evermore gently took it. The older woman pulled Red close to her chest, starting to move slowly to the music, making sure they were both ready as not to trip.

They stepped in time to the song, a slow dance having started during their prior conversation. Evermore played with Red's hair, gently threading her fingers through it. The woman laughed slightly, enjoying Evermore's light touch.

Evermore pulled her in, pressing her lips against Red's. Her eyes widened before she quickly reciprocated, and after a moment they parted, leaning their foreheads against each other's.

A wide smile split both their faces, finally having acted on the long standing feelings between them.

Someone whistled behind them, and they turned, seeing Sweet, who winked at Red. Showgirl and a few other friends were also smirking at them from across the room.

Midnights

Midnights pushed open the window, stepping out onto the roof. Once she was far enough away, she waved the others forward. She smiled, getting comfortable on the slanted surface. Stick Season, Man's Best Friend, and Poets came out behind her and picked out assorted places to sit.

“At least it's nice and warm tonight,” said Poets, who had just disentangled herself from her girlfriends to come with them.

“Yeah it is.” Midnights popped open her bottle of wine, taking a swig before offering it around. Stick Season and Man's Best Friend accepted, but Poets pushed it away, knowing she was going to be driving later.

Midnights laid back, tracing patterns through the stars with her eyes. She always loved the nightsky, though she supposed her name kind of gave that away.

A few of the brighter stars seemed to form a seagull, reminding her of 1989. It was her girlfriend's favorite bird, but she hadn't brought her up here. 1989 was downstairs playing some party games with Lover and Rep.

Midnights was glad she had found something to do, 1989 had been nervous about the party for a while, but as soon as she arrived she'd fit right in. A soft smile formed on her face, and Poets shifted next to her.

“Folklore and Speak Now having a good time?”

Poets laughed fondly. “Yeah, Speak Now's napping on Lore's chest right now.”

She grinned, picturing it. “Surprised she can sleep through the noise. Sounds just like her though.”

The little group chatted quietly for a while before they headed in as the party fizzled out. Midnights was content with how the night turned out and 1989 seemed to be too. That was enough for her.

Poets

Poets had been chosen to drive, as she'd just drank a few cups of the non-spiked cider, and refused wine on the roof. Speak Now was too sleepy to drive, and Folklore had also drifted off while Poets was on the roof. Most house's lights were off at this point, but she could still see a few strobe lights of parties still going strong.

She smiled to herself, hearing the sleepy mumbles of her girlfriends as she drove them back to Folklore's place.

They didn't have a house together yet, as they were still technically in high school though they were saving up. Lore's parents were never home so they used her house as their home base.

She pulled up the familiar driveway, parking the car. Poets turned backward to address the tired people in the back of the car.

“We're here, sleepyheads. I can't carry both of you.”

“But you can carry me,” came the reply from Speak Now.

Folklore groaned. “I guess I can walk.”

Poets went over to Speak Now's door, sensing she was not going anywhere if she didn't carry her.

She opened her girlfriend's car door, unclicking her seat belt and picking her up bridal style. Speak Now nuzzled into Poets’ neck, sighing softly. Poets smiled at her, kicking the car door shut and walking to the door Folklore was holding open.

Poets managed to get her to bed, setting her down carefully. Folklore appeared behind her, hand out. Poets nodded, knowing what she wanted but trying to not wake Speak Now who had fallen back asleep. She tossed her girlfriend the keys and watched her go put them by the door.

She and Folklore started for the bathroom side by side to get ready for bed.

Showgirl

Fearless downed a whole cup of spiked cider across from her, slapping the cup down when she finished. Showgirl admired her, watching the way her curls bounced when she laughed. Debut sat beside her, definitely less drunk than the girl across from them.

“Damn you've got it bad. It's only been one night, you know that?”

Showgirl chuckled. “Yeah I know. She's just,” she gestured wildly toward Fearless. “You know?”

Debut butted her with her hip. “You liiiike herrrr.”

“Well no shit, we've kissed like what, 10 times?” She tried to hide her blush.

Debut smiled. “Exactly my point. I'm just giving you shit.”

“Yeah yeah.”

They were quiet for a few minutes, watching Fearless down more cider.

“I don't think she'll be able to drive herself home.” Debut said, smirking at Showgirl.

Showgirl almost jumped, having forgot the other person was there. “What- what are you implying?”

“Drive her homeee. Give her your number under the premise of making sure she's okay afterward. You know?”

Showgirl groaned, covering her face with her hands. “You know what, fine. Only ‘cause I know she won't be able to drive like this.”
